СOMMONALITY OF PLAUTUS 'COMEDIES AND V. KATAEV'S COMEDY «QUADRATURE OF THE CIRCLE»

Статья посвящена исследованию литературных источников драматургической техники комедии В. Катаева «Квадратура круга». Исследование формальных приемов в структуре произведения строится на текстуальном анализе трех комедий Плавта и комедии «Квадратура круга». Анализ сходства драматургической техники производится путем сопоставления отдельных сцен в комедиях Плавта «Клад», «Близнецы», «Пленники» и комедии В. Катаева «Квадратура круга». Автором статьи используется терминология, существующая в научном обороте, но не имеющая нормативного употребления. Слова «схема», «фигура», «элемент» являются синонимами и обозначают отдельный прием драматургической техники. Процесс текстуального сличения отдельных сцен комедий Плавта и Катаева демонстрирует очевидную общность драматургической техники. Сходство приемов драматургической техники, их количественный уровень указывает на факт заимствования Катаевым отдельных элементов из комедий римского автора. Драматургические фигуры, составляющие общность приемов в комедиях Плавта и Катаева, различны на идейно-тематическом и структурно-композиционном уровне. Глубина профессионального освоения творчества Плавта вкупе с дарованием и талантом самого Валентина Петровича способствовали феерическому успеху «Квадратуры круга» на российской и мировой сценах. Использование литературно-исторических традиций античной драматургии Катаевым является бесценным опытом и примером создания произведения высокого художественного уровня. The article is devoted to the study of literary sources of the dramatic technique of V. Kataev's Comedy «the Quadrature of the circle». The study of formal techniques in the structure of the work is based on the textual analysis of three comedies by Plautus and V. Kataev's Comedy «the Quadrature of the circle». The similarity of dramatic technique is analyzed by comparing individual scenes in Plautus 'comedies «the Treasure», «the Twins», «the Prisoners» and V. Kataev's Comedy «the Quadrature of the circle». The author of the article uses terminology that exists in scientific circulation but does not have normative use. Words: the schematic of figure element are synonymous and refer to the individual reception of dramatic technique. The process of textual comparison of individual scenes of Plautus and Kataev's comedies demonstrates an obvious similarity of dramatic technique. The similarity of the techniques of dramaturgical technique ,their quantitative level, indicates the fact that V. Kataev adopted certain elements from the comedies of the Roman author. The dramaturgical figures that make up the commonality of techniques in the comedies of Plautus and V. Kataev are different on the ideological-thematic and structural-compositional level. The depth of Kataev's professional development of Plautus ' work, combined with the talent and talent of Valentin Petrovich, contributed to the enchanting success of the circle Quadrature on the Russian and world stages. The use of literary and historical traditions of ancient drama By V. Kataev is an invaluable experience and example of creating a work of high artistic level.

The relevance of the paper lies in the need of garment manufacture in highly qualified technical designers, who can apply their artistic, creative and art skills in practice and have knowledge not only about design, clothing technology but also about artistic courses aimed at developing artistic and creative competence. The paper aims to study the components of artistic and creative competence of clothing technical designers in the scientific literature and analyze the essence of this competence. Methods: a classic analysis of psycho-pedagogical, scientific and methodological literature, legal acts and documents, educational and methodical documents and proceedings of conferences to generalize conceptual approaches to solving the problem under study to reveal the essence of artistic and creative competence of clothing technical designers; generalization – to integrate and group different classifications of artistic and creative competence into an integral unity, which manifests itself in the ability of the individual to work effectively in the professional field to formulate relevant conclusions. Results. The paper studies and reveals the components of artistic and creative competence of clothing technical designers. Also, it contains a theoretical analysis of recent publications on the study of artistic, creative, as well as artistic and creative competences. <p>Two important areas of professional development for teachers of English as a foreign language (EFL) in Indonesia identified in the 2003 Law on National Education System and 2005 Law on Teachers and Lecturers are disciplinary knowledge and ICT skills. The present thesis investigates institutional and individual aspects of EFL teacher professional development (TPD) in Indonesia in relation to the development of these two areas of expertise.  Three studies were carried out. The first study measured Indonesian EFL teachers’ target language (English) proficiency as a core component of their professional knowledge and how it is maintained and developed by the teachers. EFL teachers’ language proficiency in this study was operationalised as their lexical, reading and writing proficiency and measured using the Vocabulary Levels Test (VLT), IELTS-like reading comprehension test and IELTS-like academic writing test, respectively. The results showed that the teachers’ length of service correlated negatively with their knowledge of academic vocabulary, as well as reading and writing proficiency, indicating issues with the outcomes of the TPD in this area. To triangulate the test results, teacher perceptions data were also gathered using questionnaires and interviews. It was found that the EFL teachers tended to overestimate their own overall English language proficiency.  The second study used a longitudinal blogging activity with the EFL teachers as a form of personal professional development that targeted their English language and ICT skills while reflecting on topics related to their professional (teaching) activities. Qualitative analysis of the blog entries of three EFL teachers suggested that the individual teachers’ blogging, critical reading and reflective writing skills were very uneven. Interviews with nine teachers and 11 educational stakeholders were then conducted to understand their views on blogging as a form of professional development. The results revealed that the perceived obstacles and drawbacks outweighed the perceived benefits of blogging as a form of personal professional development.  The third study examined Indonesian national TPD policy documents, how these policies were translated into local professional development programmes in Malang district. It was found that the needs for EFL teachers to maintain their English proficiency and ICT skills were only partially addressed in TPD policy and implementation. In addition, the interviewed teachers and stakeholders perceived the definitions, goals, administration, evaluation, benefits, and challenges of TPD differently.  Taken as a whole, the present findings show that institutional implementation of TPD policies in Indonesia needs to better target individual EFL teachers’ English proficiency and ICT skills, and that opportunities for better professional development need to be sought at both personal and institutional levels. At the individual level, self-motivation to continue learning is crucial for English language teachers who want to keep up with change and innovation in English language teaching. At the institutional level, needs analyses and environmental analyses are essential in designing programs for maintaining and developing teacher professional competency.</p>

In the written sources the gods are arranged in a patriarchal family structure with Odin on the top.  If we try to rank the gods in order of precedence on the basis of the number of instances in the toponymic material, Odin would be found a good way down the list. Generally, we should expect gods connected with the cult of fertility and the agricultural society to be overrepresented in the toponymic material in comparison with a god of war. If we consider our literary sources and ask which of the goddesses' names are most frequently used as basic words in kenningar for women, we see that many of the more "unknown" goddesses are very well represented in this material. In the toponymic material, it was the leading goddess who was considered to be the leading god's wife, but not necessarily. Both Frigg and Freyja belong to the type of fertility goddess.

The article deals with studying the American experience of educator professional development. To carry out this research the following methods have been applied: content analysis, systematization and theoretical generalization of scientific literature, standards, technical assistance documents and samples of the individual professional development plan (IPDP) for educators. Having conducted the research, the following results and conclusions have been drawn. The primary goal for professional learning is to help educators develop and apply the knowledge and skills necessary to help students to learn foreign languages more effectively and efficiently. Therefore, the planning and designing of professional learning include defining the SMART goals of professional learning drawn from analysis of student and educator learning needs, which are determined by examining data on student learning outcomes. To achieve these goals those who are responsible for professional learning should select the appropriate job-embedded and external forms of professional learning, which allow the educators to satisfy student learning needs, bridge the knowing-doing gap and integrating new ideas and skills into practice. An IPDP is a tool serving as a guide for the professional learning. IPDP enables educators to chart their goals and to plan learning activities that improve their competencies in order to enhance their students’ performance. Completing the IPDP includes setting the goals based on student learning needs, deciding on the professional methods/strategies, tapping possible resources, setting the time-frame, identifying success indicators. After having been accomplished, the IPDP is evaluated by the person in charge. Evaluation of professional learning provides the opportunity to monitor the process of embedding the new learning into practices by observing and assessing changes in educator practice and increases in student learning.

ABSTRACT Background A vital element of the Next Accreditation System is measuring and reporting educational Milestones. Little is known about changes in Milestones levels during the transition from residency to fellowship training. Objective Evaluate the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Milestones' ability to provide a linear trajectory of professional development from general pediatrics residency to neonatal-perinatal medicine (NPM) fellowship training. Methods We identified 11 subcompetencies that were the same for general pediatrics residency and NPM fellowship. We then extracted the last residency Milestone level and the first fellowship Milestone level for each subcompetency from the ACGME's Accreditation Data System on 89 subjects who started fellowship training between 2014 and 2018 at 6 NPM fellowship programs. Mixed-effects models were used to examine the intra-individual changes in Milestone scores between residency and fellowship after adjusting for the effects of the individual programs. Results A total of 1905 subcompetency Milestone levels were analyzed. The average first fellowship Milestone levels were significantly lower than the last residency Milestone levels (residency, mean 3.99 [SD = 0.48] vs fellowship 2.51 [SD = 0.56]; P &lt; .001). Milestone levels decreased by an average of -1.49 (SD = 0.65) from the last residency to the first fellowship evaluation. Significant differences in Milestone levels were seen in both context-dependent subcompetencies (patient care and medical knowledge) and context-independent subcompetencies (professionalism). Conclusions Contrary to providing a linear trajectory of professional development, we found that Milestone levels were reset when trainees transitioned from general pediatrics residency to NPM fellowship.

Purpose This paper aims to provide insights into the relation between professional development (PD) and organisational change processes towards sustainability, with a specific focus on empowerment. Design/methodology/approach The paper builds upon a constructivist approach, combining a literature review, a desk research on key publications and reports and a socio-political analysis to reveal the specific context in Flanders, Belgium. Findings are then connected to earlier insights from research on organisational change for sustainability. Findings The paper provides a number of PD initiatives that focus on sustainability in general and in a single higher education (HE) institution. Framing such initiatives as an organisational change process offers insights on how elements of empowerment are currently incorporated in PD initiatives and how it can strengthen them to lead to the further integration of sustainability competences in HE. Research limitations/implications Limitations are linked with the kind of sources used in the constructivist approach. The analysis only looks at written reports on the topic, albeit it also builds upon the first-hand experiences of educators in the HE institution focused upon in the case. Practical implications There is a need to frame PD initiatives as an organisational change process towards sustainability with specific attention towards empowerment. Without this framing, PD approaches comprise the risk of being left in the margins or being understood as single initiatives without any connection to the bigger picture, i.e. the transition towards sustainability in HE. Social implications Interlinking PD and organisational change provides opportunities to frame the sustainability transition within the university in a wider societal context. Originality/value The paper provides an original contribution to the debate on sustainability competences, as it frames the PD within an organisational context, rather than focusing on the individual role of educators.

In India, ‘independent documentary film’ is a term that signifies a body of films that first appeared in 1975 during the Constitutional Emergency, a period when the repressive exercise of state authority threatened the democratic political foundations of the nation. The initial usage of the term ‘independent’ to denote a production category located outside of state structures is now a misnomer. In the post-economic reform landscape, independent filmmakers operate with greater flexibility and various interdependent and mutually cooperative forms of organisation between filmmakers, the state, international and domestic NGOs, private institutions and individuals are commonplace. My attempt here is to construct an ongoing critical dialogue between broader concepts of documentary studies and the situated perspectives that emerge from individual accounts and the analysis of films produced and circulated using diverse modes and architectures. Emphasising the historical significance of documentary as a space of oppositional representation, the accounts produce a grounded theory of independence structured in relation to institutions, industry practices, individual subjectivities and technology in post-reform India. Combining the study of independent film practice and textual analysis, the mixed methods study investigates how independent Indian documentary is a practice that not only produces political representation but opens up new material relations between culture, society and the individual.
