This paper examines the influence of stakeholder participation in project execution on completion of road projects implemented by Kenya Urban Roads Authority. Descriptive research survey design was used for collection of both quantitative and qualitative data. Analysis was performed using correlation and regression analysis. The results were r = 0.796, R2 = 0.634, F (4, 209) = 90.503 and p<0.000<0.05. The findings revealed that stakeholder participation in project execution showed a strong, positive and statistically significant relationship with completion of urban road transport infrastructure projects and accounted for 63.4% of total variation in such projects. The study recommends government agencies should endeavour should work together during project implementation to ensure that service lines and acquisition of land is done ahead of time to avoid delay in completion. This will aim at ensuring quality work is achieved by both the client and the consultant through a collaborative stakeholder engagement. In conclusion, the findings of this study will shape the future of road construction and stakeholder engagement in road construction projects.

Abstract. When designing bridges on motorways and railways, conventional beam or trussed design schemes of structures made of steel or reinforced concrete are used, but at present there is a significant increase in the speeds of motion of individual vehicles, axial loads and total train weight increase, and temporary intervals between trains. These factors lead to a significant increase in dynamic effects and necessitate the use of non-classical design schemes for artificial structures of transport infrastructure. In this study, it is proposed to take a threespan arch bridge with suspended central span structure as the basis for unified bridge overpass. Such an arrangement will allow changing the design length of the central span in a fairly wide range, reducing the total number of supports with an increase in the total length of the bridge overpass, and using a similar design as a double-track railroad, two- or four-lane motorway bridge. Calculations carried out and the results obtained for calculating displacements, internal forces and stresses in the units and elements of the proposed bridge overpass design allow concluding about the allowable limit values of the values found, sufficiently uniform load of all its main elements, the absence of strongly marked large-scale stress concentrators. Proposed design allows setting different sizes of spans during the design, reducing the number or even avoiding the installation of channel supports, adapting this structure for the passage of both rail and road transport. Design of the bridge, mathematical model of which is described in detail in the article, can be manufactured at the factory, and then delivered to the installation site and mounted there, which significantly reduces the final construction cost and makes it a profitable solution, for example, for arranging railway interchanges at different levels.

In the global world, the most important factor influencing international relations is globalization in various spheres. Within the new global environment, knowledge becomes the priority resource for economic growth and economic security that leads to increasing qualification requirements of workers. Intensive development of globalization trends under new conditions leads to strengthening the processes of international educational migration. This research is focused on international educational migration that is considered a movement of people between the countries of the world in order to obtain educational services of different levels and for different periods of time. Such movement may include schoolchildren, students, postgraduates, and doctoral students who improve their skills. The present study reveals the influence of the new wave of globalization on the nature of international educational migration in the world and analyzes the transformation processes of international educational migration, and defines the features of the effectiveness of international educational migration on the example of European countries.

AbstractThe study investigated the effects of road transport infrastructure on agricultural sector development in Nigeria from 1985 to 2014, using secondary annual time series data on agricultural development (proxy by gross domestic product in the Agric sector) road transport infrastructure (proxy by length of paved road per square kilometer of area) export and capital, all obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) [3], and National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) [16], statistical bulletins. The data were analyzed using Granger Causality test and Ordinary Least Square estimation techniques. The study concluded that a positive and statistically significant relationship exists between road transport infrastructures (LRT) also evidence was found of a unidirectional causality from agricultural sector development to transport infrastructure. The study, therefore, recommends that adequate and timely maintenance of existing roads should be carried out as well as enacting appropriate regulations that ensure proper implementation and completion of new road construction contracts in the country in order to boost agricultural sector development, reduce wastage of farm produce and increase the possibility of economic diversification.

The gradually exhausting crude oil reserves worldwide have made experts in the building industry to explore alternative resources for road construction materials. This study was designed to evaluate the potential applications of engine oil wastes as a bitumen modifier. The Waste Engine Oil (WEO) was obtained from an auto mechanic workshop. The base bitumen was replaced with WEO at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10% respectively. The WEO modified bitumen properties which included penetration, softening point, flash point, solubility, specific gravity and viscosity were measured in accordance to ASTM standard procedures for a period of 5 days. From the results obtained it was observed that as the replacement level of the WEO increased, there was decrease in the viscosity, specific gravity, flash point and the softening point properties. Incorporating WEO into the base bitumen can at best be acceptable at 2% - 4%.

The development of the Arctic zone of Russia is associated with the development of a transport system that provides not only the export of raw materials, but also the delivery of construction materials, equipment and cargo to support existing industries. In turn, investment projects for the development of natural resources determine the requirements for the development of the transport system. For the first time, a schematic diagram and a map of the transport system of the Arctic zone (rail, water and road transport), including the main communication routes and transport hubs, are presented. The main points of formation of the cargo base of mineral resources have been determined. The interdependence of the development of the transport system and the development of mineral resources of the Arctic zone is indicated. It was concluded that the development of transport infrastructure that solves production tasks allows, among other things, to improve the quality of life of the local population and the connectivity of the territories.

Road constructions are most relevant. This article provides data on the improvement of the properties of road construction materials, including those added to the soil: stabilized soil and adhesive asphalt concrete. Because of the impact of the above-mentioned additives, the accumulation of residual deformations in the structural layers of road products are reduced. The analysis of the market of the Russian Federation, which resulted in the identification of the following most preferred options for additives for research: ANT for soil stabilization and Amdor-10 and DAD-1 mark C for asphalt concrete. For asphalt concrete, several additivies were considered, since this is the most important structural layer in road pavement, perceiving the load from passing vehicles. This article provides comparative tables and graphs, which provide data on changes in the physic-mechanical properties of materials (soils and asphalt concrete) as a result of the application of the above additives. All tests were performed in accordance with the current regulatory documentation, and all the necessary requirements for the test materials were met. Were also obtained materials for testing. With the help of this device the possibility of resisting the accumulation of residual deformations is estimated. There is an imitation of situations in which materials are in real road. As a result, data were obtained that the use of stabilizing additives for soil and adhesive fabric reduces the accumulation of residual deformations and, as a result, increases the turnaround time between repairs.

Abstract. Application of rigorous construction procedures is fundamental when it comes to road construction. Nowadays, and in particular in Chile, the asphalt paving construction process is based on tradition, craftsmanship and other implicit, experience-based methods employed during road construction. This means, that the different stages of the construction process, including the paving of the road, are not controlled on time as they should, which causes that the final product does not have the ideal characteristics for which the construction materials initially were designed and manufactured. Therefore, we propose the use of tools and methodologies that allow monitoring each of the stages of the construction process in almost real-time. Our approach aims to evaluate the use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) during the asphalt pavement construction process by capturing images and videos during the placement of the asphalt mixture and the movement of the compaction machinery (pneumatic roller and drum roller) present in the construction site. The observations are digitally processed by mainly binarization and thresholding. As a result, the macro texture of the asphalt surface was estimated and the trajectory of the compaction rollers was visualized. In conclusion, our results reveal that the main factor that influences the quality of the roads corresponds to the performance and operations of the compaction machinery.
