The paper presents models for describing the operating scenarios of automated systems. The authors introduce and analyze the category “the life cycle of automated system scenarios”. The life cycle consists of a sequence of stages. The leading success factor of any scenario is the support of the scenario during all stages of its life cycle. The most important stages of the scenario life cycle are the following: the stage of forming the event set for generating the scenario, the stage of performing the sequence of scenario events and the stage of situational analysis of the external and internal environment of the event. In the article it is proposed to use a theoretical set model in order to select an element from a set of alternatives. The elements are events for designing a scenario. The model uses fuzzy logic and is based on the process of controlling an array of parameters if variants are available. The model is used to support the stage of forming a set of events for generating the scenario. The mathematical model of automated system operation which is used to support the stage of performing the sequence of scenario events is suggested in the article. The model is based on the principle of information logistics: each parameter (a set of data) is in the right place in the automated system, ‘just-in-time’ and in the required format. A modified frame model is proposed to support situational analysis. The situational analysis is used to operate the event algorithms and to determine the next event in the scenario. The modified frame model is based on the use of fuzzy logic procedures in a frame network.

Just-in-time adaptive intervention (JITAI) has gained attention recently and previous studies have indicated that it is an effective strategy in the field of mobile healthcare intervention. Identifying the right moment for the intervention is a crucial component. In this paper the reinforcement learning (RL) technique has been used in a smartphone exercise application to promote physical activity. This RL model determines the ‘right’ time to deliver a restricted number of notifications adaptively, with respect to users’ temporary context information (i.e., time and calendar). A four-week trial study was conducted to examine the feasibility of our model with real target users. JITAI reminders were sent by the RL model in the fourth week of the intervention, while the participants could only access the app’s other functionalities during the first 3 weeks. Eleven target users registered for this study, and the data from 7 participants using the application for 4 weeks and receiving the intervening reminders were analyzed. Not only were the reaction behaviors of users after receiving the reminders analyzed from the application data, but the user experience with the reminders was also explored in a questionnaire and exit interviews. The results show that 83.3% reminders sent at adaptive moments were able to elicit user reaction within 50 min, and 66.7% of physical activities in the intervention week were performed within 5 h of the delivery of a reminder. Our findings indicated the usability of the RL model, while the timing of the moments to deliver reminders can be further improved based on lessons learned.

One of the main causes of blindness is diabetic retinopathy (DR) and it may affect people of any ages. In these days, both young and old ages are affected by diabetes, and the di abetes is the main cause of DR. Hence, it is necessary to have an automated system with good accuracy and less computation time to diagnose and treat DR, and the automated system can simplify the work of ophthalmologists. The objective is to present an overview of various works recently in detecting and segmenting the various lesions of DR. Papers were categorized based on the diagnosing tools and the methods used for detecting early and advanced stage lesions. The early lesions of DR are microaneurysms, hemorrhages, exudates, and cotton wool spots and in the advanced stage, new and fragile blood vessels can be grown. Results have been evaluated in terms of sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and receiver operating characteristic curve. This paper analyzed the various steps and different algorithms used recently for the detection and classification of DR lesions. A comparison of performances has been made in terms of sensitivity, specificity, area under the curve, and accuracy. Suggestions, future workand the area to be improved were also discussed. Keywords: Diabetic retinopathy, Image processing, Morphological operations, Neural network, Fuzzy logic.

Green logistics is very attractive and request the point of view. Many companies try to be “green”, but on the other hand they also must be quick, be in right time in the right place and everything with as low costs as possible. So because of it, they use more road freight transport. Nowadays road freight transport is much expanded as transport companies prefer the possibility to operate just-in-time.  There are several advantages that give road freight transport the first place. Firstly, the truck can be prepared whenever, no matter what time is chosen.  Secondly, the flexibility and no more borders with customs control inside the Schengen Area make freight transport quicker. On the other hand, innovative approaches ask for environmental protection, which becomes one of the most important points of view.  If countries support this environmental friendly transport, this would be reflected in the transport prices which should make rail transport more interesting. Using the methodology in the manuscript was divided to three steps. The first step is to identify relevant questions related to border crossing. Next step is to elaborate a list of border problems, and the last step is an analysis of available data.

Abstract Harumanis is a famous green eating mango cultivar that has been commercially cultivated in Malaysia’s state of Perlis. A variety of nutrients are found in soil, all of which are necessary for plant growth. Micronutrients such as Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K) are essential for Harumanis mango (Mangifera Indica) to growth. The importance of soil fertility in achieving high plant productivity and quality cannot be overstated. It should be used in a moderate amount and in a balanced manner. Predicting appropriate nutrients and the right timing to satisfy the tree’s demands is critical. The aim of this study is to create for Harumanis mango a fuzzy logic-based system to analyse the results of soil tests for nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) in the Harumanis mango orchard. The interpreted data are used to estimate N-P-K nutrient levels and indicate the optimal fertilizer solution and application timing for each Harumanis growth stages. The system utilizes Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) to predict the nutrients demand for Harumanis mango growth. Results shows the system able to calculate and predict values of required N-P-K fertilizer for optimal growth. Thus, assist farmers in predicting the proper amount of N-P-K to apply to Harumanis mango soil.

Ornamental fish trade between regions in Indonesia allows the transfer of disease, especially if the disease does not show clinical symptoms in fish traded. Koi fish in Tahuna, North Sulawesi, mostly come from the area of East Java, which is one area with many cases of myxobolusis. In addition, the potential for parasitic diseases that come along when koi fish are brought between areas cannot be avoided, because the examination of parasites, especially Myxobolus sp. no longer listed in the regulation as a quarantine inspection requirement. The purpose of this study was to see the Myxobolus sp infestation that infected koi in Tahuna, North Sulawesi, although there were no clinical symptoms using conventional techniques and histopathology. The results of the examination showed Myxobolus spore infestation on the gills of the koi, although the amount was not much, both conventional and histopathological techniques. This shows that our level of awareness of the types of parasites that can infect fish is still lacking. Myxobolus sp is only transmitted through the spore stage back and forth; there is no horizontal or vertical transmission in fish or tubifex T worm populations. More knowledge regarding the life cycle of the Myxobolus sp. in order to obtain the right handling to deal with outbreaks, especially water quality management at the location of the cultivation.

Policy design requires the investigation of various data in several design steps for making the right decisions, validating, or monitoring the political environment. The increasing amount of data is challenging for the stakeholders in this domain. One promising way to access the “big data” is by abstracted visual patterns and pictures, as proposed by information visualization. This chapter introduces the main idea of information visualization in policy modeling. First abstracted steps of policy design are introduced that enable the identification of information visualization in the entire policy life-cycle. Thereafter, the foundations of information visualization are introduced based on an established reference model. The authors aim to amplify the incorporation of information visualization in the entire policy design process. Therefore, the aspects of data and human interaction are introduced, too. The foundation leads to description of a conceptual design for social data visualization, and the aspect of semantics plays an important role.
