Distance learning organized by Universitas Terbuka provides many benefits and opportunities for students in remote areas to get higher education services. For the time being, this learning program is facilitated by e-learning assistance program using technology and information media. This learning process emphasizes unlimited materials for students outside the main source, Buku Materi Pokok, that can be accessed whenever and wherever. The main focus of this tutorial online is to give a chance for students to learn in their free time, give them learning assistance, and measure how they understand the materials given. This emphasizes the learning process independently and autonomously. This article tries to give a new sight in this Tutorial Online about a technique or a model that can be applied. This model encompasses practices, assignments, and tasks can be done independently by students. This learning model will improve and build students’ autonomous learning by providing them with authentic yet simple tasks, practical and independent assignments.

Aim: The aim of the research is to discuss if the lean thinking methodology may contribute to enhance interdisciplinarity and collaboration in higher education engineering courses, namely when applied to engineering students at a Portuguese Higher Education Technology School. Methods. Lean thinking is an organisational methodology that uses innovation to organise and optimise human activities with the aim of eliminating waste. This methodology can be applied to a wide range of activities envisaging to mainly perform tasks that effectively add value to the related processes. When used in an educational context, this approach may also contribute to identifying which activities successfully contribute to add value to the students’ learning process, as opposed to being ineffective for that aim. Results. Current study focuses on interdisciplinarity through a set of collaborative Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) tasks that were planned, tested and assessed in an engineering Higher Education context. Conclusion. One of the main aspects envisaged through the developed CLIL tasks was to contribute to the enhancement of peer-to-peer collaborative learning in an interdisciplinary context, another was to reflect on reciprocal cooperation methodologies that enhance interdisciplinarity in Higher Education.

Higher education institutes like universities cannot ignore the need to teach well known information systems, like ERP systems. Case studies are the most chosen way to introduce the handling of these systems to fulfill the needs of the international employment market and to provide a practical focus within the education. Effective teaching concepts have to improve this situation by considering the pedagogical aspects, which support the individual learning process of each student. This chapter discusses the changes and challenges of enterprise systems in higher education and provides an overview about the learning theory and the actual learning supporting technology as a basis for our concept. The approach considers actual needs of higher education, e.g. present learning in a lab as well as e-Learning courses supported by new methods in technology-enhanced learning by recording students’ behavior to guide them through the system. Therefore the authors introduce an Adaptive Learning Cycle which considers tracking and analyzing results deduced with mining methods to improve the learning progress. The aim is to achieve positive influences on the progress of the learning process to build up professional competence.

Research into the design, delivery, support, and administration of Online Distance Learning (ODL) programmes in higher education is developing but still nascent with theories and discourses from many areas of traditional education being examined and developed to address the particular affordances of online education. Whilst debate continues about the procurement of and best application of educational technologies and systems, one aspect of the debate seems clear, that the technology and content alone is not “e-learning.” Directing someone to an online repository does not mean learning will necessarily take place. Whilst the technology and the content are essential, both are important only insofar as the affordances they provide for learning to take place. Using empirical evidence, this chapter argues that the actions of the tutor are therefore pivotal in an educational environment where the learning process is directed at more than simply accessing information.

Higher Education is the climax of the process of providing knowledge, changing learners attitude and inculcating specialized skills in individuals preparatory to taking a life-long employment with intent to earning a living and equally contributing to national economic growth and development. The Teaching and learning process is cardinal to the realization of the educational objectives of any nation. The advent of information and communication technology has made teaching and learning easier and beyond the traditional face to face interaction between the teacher and the learner. E-learning basically involving the transfer of skills and knowledge through an electronic device aims at improving the teaching/learning process. In spite of the benefits of e-learning to both regular students and distance learners, e-learning has been fraught with some challenges in Africa. Therefore, this paper discusses some of the challenges facing e-learning in Africa particularly in the Nigerian higher education system. These among others are epileptic power supply, high cost of procurement of computer hardware, inadequate infrastructure, and resistance to change on the part of the instructors, inability of learners to make use of ICT infrastructure, inadequate skilled manpower ICT, and corruption of computer storage device through viruses. Effectively managing the identified challenges means that the government would have to ensure regular power supply, lecturers and learners should be trained in the use of ICT infrastructure, and the government should evolve viable ICT policy as well as control or subsidise the price of the s of ICT infrastructure to make it affordable for both lecturers and learners. Research Question (RQ): What challenges did students recognize in the sudden transition to e-learning due to the outbreak of COVID-19? Which suggestions facilitated in the improvement of implementing e-learning and to what extent did the students think that following their recommendations contributed to better e-learning? Purpose: With the research, we wanted to determine what challenges students at higher vocational schools perceived during the e-learning process. Due to the sudden appearance of COVID-19, the educational approach swiftly changed, and both teachers and students were faced with many challenges. Method: Content analysis was used on domestic and international research studies. The literature was reviewed and analyzed using keywords. For the empirical research, we collected data by surveying students from the southeastern part of Slovenia in seven different short cycle higher education programs. The questionnaire was designed based on self-evaluation reports and previously analyzed professional literature dealing with this area. Results: Results are depicted based on the challenges that students faced in the sudden onset of e-learning due to the pandemic. By following recommendations provided by students, teachers were able to improve their e-learning approach, in which everyone was involved, and thus facilitated the learning process. Organization: The results of the research enable schools to implement the identified challenges that students perceived during the educational process to improve e-learning. The research findings portray a possible answer on what needs to be improved in e-learning and how to adapt approaches in a way that is tailored to the student. Society: Recognizing students’ e-learning challenges is the foundation for improving the entire e-learning process, which contributes to better achievement of educational goals and greater contribution of knowledge to society. Originality: Several studies on e-learning have already been conducted, but we have not found any that address the challenges posed by short cycle higher education students in the face of the immediate and unexpected introduction of e-learning due to the global health situation. Limitations/Future Research: We have limited ourselves to research that has already been conducted in this area. The resulting questionnaire was created as a pilot survey on a larger sample to determine reliability and to obtain a starting point for implementing improvements in practice and the possibility of further testing on an even larger number of students. The research also offers a starting point for the preparation of a questionnaire intended for higher education teachers who already have conducted e-learning.

E-learning is the best way of getting knowledge at present especially when it comes to distant education. E-learning is a computer-based educational system that allows you to learn in any place at any time. Earlier e-learning solutions were delivered on CDROMs but nowadays, an online platform is making easier ways for such implementation in terms of scalability as well as usability. Online courses such a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), which is a way of delivering the content of learning online for any person with easy access from any part of the World is becoming much more popular for certification courses. This research paper focuses on the requirements of such implementation as a part of teaching and learning strategy in one of the higher education institutions in Oman. The existing system in these days is Moodle which is one of the Virtual Learning Environments. Through Moodle, teachers are sharing many eLearning based tools with students. It is based on PowerPoint in Moodle learning and different activities on papers. The methodology used in this project is a mixed methodology – quantitative and qualitative, which includes a questionnaire to get more opinions from different people about this research and there also interviews. The study is performed in context to one of the leading private higher education institutions (HEI) in Oman. The proposed research will suggest a new E-Learning application, especially for some practical modules. Based on the above study, researchers have a plan to propose a new framework and solution for practical modules in HEI especially with the integration of MOOC. The large scale implementation of the proposed research and its solution will be on a cloud, in order to provide easy access along with scalability.

Since 2020, Saudi administrations have provisionally closed educational institutions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. At the time, employing technology was imperative to accelerate learning efforts and offer methods of enhancing interactions between learners and among learners and tutors. In this review, I first describe the e-learning systems that were used in higher education before the pandemic. Then, I investigate the impact of COVID-19 on Saudi higher education and how universities and public educational institutions responded to the pandemic. In the conclusion, I argue that policymakers, university sectors, and syllabi developers should unify national e-learning strategies, integrate technology in a systematic way, and design e-learning curricula to meet the needs of an ever-advancing world and revolutionise the learning process.

E-learning is an educational media that use ICT in the learning process. Nowadays, most of the higher education (universities) in Indonesia have integrated the learning process with e-learning systems. By using this system, learning can be done outside the classroom, anytime and anywhere. Based on the literature reviews, e-learning has many positive impacts on higher education components and its ecosystems, i.e., students, lecturers, higher education staff, and campus officials. Although it offers many advantages, similar to the information technology in general, e-learning systems are also vulnerable to security issues. Because, several security holes in the system can be penetrated easily by hackers, where the essential data contained in e-learning has high potential to be spoofed even modified by irresponsible parties. The security aspect of the e-learning system must be considered to minimize risks. Thus, the higher education can run their business as well. This paper aims to elaborate on the e-Learning system, opportunities, challenges, and several offered solutions on it. The research method used in this paper is literature studies from the latest references
