The Jigsaw II, one form of Cooperative learning techniques is an efficient strategy to use in a language classroom. The basic activities include 1) Reading with team members 2) Expert group discussion 3) Team members report 4) Test 5) Team recognition. The jigsaw II strategy is easyto implement and works well with a wide range of students.Previous researches related to Jigsaw II shows that it is more powerful and effective and appropriate in situations where learning is from text based materials. Reviews related to the strategy shows that no researches have been carried out to develop the reading comprehension of the high school students, particularly in the Indian context. Hence through this paper an attempt has been made by the researcher to check the effectiveness of Jigsaw II in developing the reading comprehension of High school students. The study statistically revealed that there is significant difference in the reading comprehension achievement of the students who were taught by using the traditional method and to those taught by using the Jigsaw II strategy. In accordance with the qualitative and quantitative findings attained it was found that Jigsaw II was found to be more effective than the traditional teaching method in developing the reading comprehension of high school students.

Abstract We examined the effects of peer support arrangements as an alternative to exclusive direct support from paraprofessionals for three high school students with severe disabilities in general education classrooms. We also explored the use of structural analysis as a data-based approach for further refining the interventions to enhance their impact in particular classrooms. Peer support arrangements were associated with substantial increases in social outcomes; academic engagement maintained or improved modestly for all participants. Moreover, structural analyses yielded findings used to adapt peer support arrangements to address students' individual needs. Although the effects of structural analysis-based adaptations resulted in increases in social responses for only one participant, levels of social interactions maintained, and improvements in academic engagement occurred for two participants.

In this millennial era, English speaking skills are very necessary for young learners, especially for Vocational High Schools students. However, few teachers still have difficulties in choosing the right technique to teach the speaking skills. Consequently, students feel that speaking is the hardest skill in English. This paper is aimed at discussing how to improve the students’ transactional speaking skills (group discussion) using problem-based group discussion technique at Vocational High School 5 Gowa. A quantitative research design was used to carry out this study with support from the data collection instrument i.e. speaking video test (group discussion). The design of this study conducted using a quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. Twenty (20) students in two classes i.e. ten students for the experimental class and ten students for the controlled class of the intermediate level were purposively selected to participate in this study. The results of this study showed that the problem-based group discussion technique is able to improve students’ transactional speaking skills. It was proved by the result of the statistical analysis of the level significance P = 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) = 9 indicated that the t-test values of the students’ transactional speaking skills (3.498) was higher than the t-table value (2.262). The outcome of this research indicates that this technique is effectively able to improve the students’ transactional speaking skills in exchanging information, taking a part in formal discussions and even learning to work in real-life situations
