Purpose: An important element in each teaching workshop for resident doctors at the University of Saskatchewan is the microteaching sessions, including feedback. We set out to test our observations that one condition for organizing the feedback increased the quality of feedback. In one condition, residents provide and receive feedback in all areas listed on our feedback form; while in the other condition, they provide and receive feedback in some areas. Methods: Over 115 residents participated in the teaching workshop in the 2019-2020 academic year. Each resident experienced both conditions for giving and receiving feedback—about half with one condition first and the other half in the opposite order. We developed and tested a simple survey that asked about the usefulness of the feedback. Results: We used the Mann-Whitney U test for differences between some areas or all areas. We found a statistically significant difference with small to moderate effect sizes (Cohen’s d) favouring the some areas condition. Conclusion: Residents found the usefulness of feedback given or received using the feedback condition in some areas greater than all areas. We will now only use the some areas condition and recommend that other teaching workshops that use microteaching practice sessions consider using this condition.

The teaching process consists of four pillars: the teaching objectives, the needs and preparations of the students, the input of behavioral inputs, experiences or educational activities, and the measurement and evaluation. These four pillars are interconnected to each other organically so that one cant be dispensed with the other. Therefore, this research aims to know the calendar in general. The research also deals with the knowledge of the good test specifications in the Islamic schools, especially the secondary school, and the quality of the exam in the final exam in the academic year 2015/2016.إن العملية التدريسية تتكون من أربعة أركان وهي الأهداف التدريسية وحاجات واستعدادات التلاميذ المساة بالمدخلات السلوكية والخبرات أو الأنشطة التعليمية ثم  القياس والتقويم. وترتبط هذه الأركان الأربع بعضها ببعض ارتباطا عضويا بحيث لا يستغنى أحدها عن الأخر. لذا، يهدف هذا البحث إلى معرفة التقويم بوجه عام، كما يتطرق البحث إلى معرفة مواصفات الاختبار الجيد في المدارس الإسلامية بخاصة المدرسة الثانوية ومعرفة جودة الاختبار في الامتحان النهائى المقنن فيها للعام الدراسي 2015/2016 مـ.

LPDs are non-bank financial institutions that are regulated and approved by the Regional Regulations of the Province of Bali. The management of LPD is fully handed over to the relevant Pakraman village. In line with the rapid development of LPDs, it turns out that on the other hand it shows diverse performance, so that LPDs need to pay attention to the level of product quality and customer interest in the products offered.            The purpose of the study was to determine the comparison of product quality and interest in saving at the Tajun Traditional Village LPD with the Traditional Village of Tegal. The number of samples from Tajun Adat Village LPD was 98 people and the LPD of Tegal Traditional Village was 84 people. The research data were analyzed by the Mann-Whitney Test. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the quality of the products of the Adat Village of Tajun LPD and the Traditional Village of Tegal. This difference is indicated by indicators of physical evidence, reliability, responsiveness and empathy. The product quality of Tajun Adat Village's LPD is better than the traditional village of Tegal. There is a significant difference between the interest in saving the traditional village of Tajun LPD and the traditional village of Tegal. The difference is in the indicator of confidence. Interest in Saving Tajun Indigenous Village LPD is higher than the Traditional Village of Tegal.

This study focuses on the results obtained from the teacher's assessment of Project-Based Learning, a methodological approach that implies a change in the university pedagogical paradigm that affects both the teaching and learning processes. To this end, a study is carried out taking as a sample university teachers during the academic year 2018-2019. Among the results obtained, it is worth mentioning that the teacher considers the Project-Based Learning a methodology that favours in the classroom, constituting a valid alternative to improve the quality of learning in university students.

Using egocentric network data from the University of California Social Networks Study (1,136 respondents; 11,536 alters), this study examines how difficult ties—an unexplored form of social negativity—are associated with well-being. Findings show that well-being is affected by the quality of the relationship rather than its presence in the network. Having a nondifficult partner is associated with lower loneliness compared to having no partner, but having no partner and having a difficult partner are related to similar levels of loneliness. Likewise, having difficult adult children and having no adult children are associated with reporting greater psychological distress than having nondifficult adult children. Consistent with the stress process model, the negative association of a difficult partner with well-being is buffered when that partner is otherwise supportive and when the other ties in the network are supportive. However, that association is amplified when the other ties are also difficult.

George, Kallie. The Melancholic Mermaid. Illus. Abigail Halpin. Vancouver: Simply Read Books, 2010. Print. Upon reading a plot summary of Kallie George’s The Melancholic Mermaid, you might first wonder if you’ve read the book before. Humans befriending mermaids, outsiders uniting, and children learning that their differences make them special are all plots that have been told and retold in a variety of mediums. It will be no surprise to readers that, though Maude the two-tailed mermaid has twice the speed, twice the strength, and twice the grace, these same qualities isolate her from the other mer-children. Similarly, when two-legged Tony’s webbed hands are revealed, an unlikely friendship with Maude is inevitable. However, while the plot and themes rarely venture outside established cliché, there are two aspects of The Melancholic Mermaid that not only make it well worth the read but push it over and above similar fare. Firstly, George’s poetic rhythms perfectly capture the lulling melancholy of the seashore. At times, she dances the line between poetry and prose, evoking the rolling tides of a calm day at the beach. Of particular note is her command of alliteration, which when well-executed, rarely fails to captivate children and draw them into a fairy tale world. Secondly, Abigail Halpin’s illustrations are positively breathtaking. Her use of colour, space, and contrast are all wonderful to behold and do a remarkable job of highlighting the settings and mood of George’s story. While the scenes on land are depicted in vibrant purples and reds, the seashore is dominated by calm and subtle shades of blue and green. If you are the type to choose a book by its cover, The Melancholic Mermaid should most certainly be a popular choice. The high quality of the illustrations make The Melancholic Mermaid a great book for beginning readers to grow into, and it will be ideally suited for children transitioning from picture books into shorter chapter books. While the story features both male and female protagonists, it will most likely hold a broader appeal for girls than for boys. Abstract Objective - This study compared the quality and helpfulness of traditional book review sources with the online user rating system in Amazon.com in order to determine if one mode is superior to the other and should be used by library selectors to assist in making purchasing decisions. Methods - For this study, 228 reviews of 7 different novels were analyzed using a content analysis approach. Of these, 127 reviews came from traditional review sources and 101 reviews were published on Amazon.com. Results - Using a checklist developed for this study, a significant difference in the quality of reviews was discovered. Reviews from traditional sources scored significantly higher than reviews from Amazon.com. The researcher also looked at review length. On average, Amazon.com reviews are shorter than reviews from traditional sources. Review rating—favourable, unfavourable, or mixed/neutral—also showed a lack of consistency between the two modes of reviews. Conclusion - Although Amazon.com provides multiple reviews of a book on one convenient site, traditional sources of professionally written reviews would most likely save librarians more time in making purchasing decisions, given the higher quality of the review assessment.

This study examined phonatory-articulatory timing during sung productions by trained and untrained female singers with and without singing talent. 31 untrained female singers were divided into two groups (talented or untalented) based on the perceptual judgments of singing talent by two experienced vocal instructors. In addition to the untrained singers, 24 trained female singers were recorded singing America the Beautiful, and voice onset time was measured for selected words containing /p, b, g, k/. Univariate analyses of variance indicated that phonatory-articulatory timing, as measured with voice onset time, was different among the three groups for /g/, with the untrained-untalented singers displaying longer voice onset time than the trained singers. No other significant differences were observed across the other phonemes. Despite a significant difference observed, relatively small effect sizes and statistical power make it difficult to draw any conclusions regarding the usefulness of voice onset time as an indicator of singing talent.

Stress is defined as a dynamic condition in which an individual is confronted with an opportunity, constraint, demand related to what he or she desires and for which the outcome is perceived to be both uncertain and important. This study focused on the manifestations and the sources of stress on faculty members of Hail University for the 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2018-2019.  A quantitative-comparative approach was employed in this study. There were 236 faculty who had participated in the study resulting to 94.4% response rate. Data collection started from February 2019 to April 2019. To measure manifestations and the sources of stress, the Total Teacher Concern Inventory was used. This consists of 48 distinct statements. Weighted mean, Analysis of Variance (F-test), and (t-test) were used.  All statistical analyses were performed at 0.05 level of significance. Results shows that the faculty disagreed that the sources of stress from work-related stressors (3.47). A significant difference between time management and sex (0.04) was determined. Likewise, a significant difference between gastrointestinal manifestations (0.01), behavioral manifestations (0.01) and the faculty’s age was obtained.

The contribution of the physiologic and cognitive processes is important for increasing the quality of the education and occupational productivity. The new researches done indicate that exercising frequency and emotional intelligence level have precious contributions on the occupational performances of the individuals. The purpose of this research was determined as evaluating the sporting situation and emotional intelligence levels of adults in different occupational groups. 586 individuals participated in the research, who works in various professions in Bartın Province. The information on the participant group and the other variables of the research was analyzed via descriptive statistic techniques. For evaluating the data, SPSS 21.0 package software was used and for analyzing the data, descriptive statistics, independent t-test and one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) techniques were used. As a result of the data obtained, no significant difference was encountered in the emotional intelligence sub-dimensions and total scores depending on the sporting situation of the participants (p > 0.05). As a result of the analyses done for the gender variable, significant differences were obtained on behalf of the women and it was seen that emotional intelligence total scores of the female workers are higher compared with the male workers (p < 0.05). For the finding where the relations between age variable and emotional intelligence was evaluated, it was seen that there is a significant decrease in the emotional intelligence level with the increase in age (p < 0.05). This decrease was tried to be explained with occupational exhaustion. At the same time, the finding was arrived that the total emotional intelligence scores of the participants who work as teacher, compared with the other professions, is higher with a significant level compared with the other profession groups (p < 0.05). The findings of the research were discussed in the light of the literature and recommendations were offered for contributing to the new researches to be made.

The current study aimed to investigate the most common translation problems that encountered the Saudi students in translating some of the literary items from Arabic into English. In addition, the study tried to investigate the most difficult terms that the students faced while translating them. Moreover, it aimed to explore the participants’ point of views behind such translation problems. To achieve the purpose of the study, a translation test, which involved 20 items and expressions, was prepared in advance. Furthermore, an interview was made to the participants to ask them about their point of views concerning the reasons behind encountering such translation problems. The sample of the study consisted of 15 male fourth year English-majored university students, who were chosen purposefully, at the University College of Taymaa in the first semester of the academic year 2017/2018 in Saudi Arabia. The design of the study was a qualitative as well as quantitative method. The data that were obtained from the participants’ answers in the translation test as well as the participants’ point of views in the interview were analyzed using the appropriate statistical analyses. The findings of the study showed that the students’ achievement in translating the items of the terms of address was the best compared with their results in the other two groups (lexical and cultural). Moreover, the analysis of the students’ interviews indicated that the lack of practice and lack of translation courses are a main reason in facing such these problems. Based on the findings, the researcher presented some recommendations and suggestions to develop students’ translation competence such as increasing the number of the translation courses that are presented to the students in their studying to have more practice in the process of translation. Moreover, more concentration should be given to the lexical, cultural, and terms of address problems in translation. Besides, students must be trained on how to use the bilingual dictionaries in the process of translation to get the intended meaning while rendering from Arabic into English and vice versa.
