This article aims to explore the role of Joseph Kam in the development of education and Christianity for the natives in Ambon in 1815-1833. This paper refers to the historical writing method in order to describe and analyze every event in the dimensions of space and time, with the principles of historical research, the historical method has stages from heuristics, verification, interpretation to historiography. The presence and efforts made by Joseph Kamp in the Dutch East Indies in particular in Ambon have made a major contribution to the indigenous people's literacy. His persistence in imparting education is always accompanied by the mission of the Nederlandsch Zendeling Genootschap to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ among the indigenous people. In addition to providing formal education by providing reading, writing, and arithmetic education to his students, Joseph Kamp also provides non-formal education by providing opportunities for his students to gain hands-on experience on how to operate a printing press or become part of the crew Schooner. Joseph Kam's persistence and hard work in serving the indigenous people have made an imprint on the hearts of Maluku.AbstrakTulisan ini bertujuan untuk menkesplorasi peran Joseph Kam terhadap perkembangan pendidikan dan kekristenan bagi para pribumi di Ambon pada tahun 1815-1833. Tulisan ini mengacu pada metode penulisan sejarah guna menguraikan dan menganalisis setiap peristiwa dalam dimensi ruang dan waktu, dengan kaidah-kaidah penelitian sejarah, metode sejarah memiliki tahapan dari heuristik, verifikasi, intepretasi hingga historiografi. Kehadiran serta usaha yang dilakukan oleh Joseph Kamp di Hindia Belanda secara khusus di Ambon telah memberikan kontribusi besar kepada masyarakat pribumi agar melek huruf. Ketekunannya dalam menanamkan pendidikan selalu dibarengi dengan misi dari Nederlandsch Zendeling Genootschap untuk mewartakan Injil Yesus Kristus di tengah-tengah masyarakat pribumi. Selain memberikan pendidikan secara formal dengan memberikan pendidikan membaca, menulis serta berhitung kepada para siswanya, Joseph Kamp juga membekali dengan pendidikan nonformal yaitu dengan memberikan kesempatan bagi para peserta didiknya untuk memperoleh pengalaman secara langsung tentang bagaimana cara mengoperasikan mesin cetak maupun menjadi bagian dari awak kapal Schooner. Kegigihan serta kerja keras Joseph Kam dalam melayani masyarakat pribumi telah membekas di hati masyarakat Maluku

This article examines the dynamics of the indigenous people of the Dutch East Indies' access to education during the Dutch Etichal Policy period. Considering that, the Netherlands was the longest-running country exploiting the Indies, the country was obliged to bear the burden of reciprocation on their colony. The burden of reciprocity was realised through an Ethical Policy that has three programs. They are irrigation, transmigration, and education. Of the three, Education was the program that had major impacts on the Indonesian national movement. This research used historical method. The result of this research showed us that although education had succeeded in undermining the Dutch colonial domination, the education during the Dutch Etichal Policy period was not fully given as a whole by the colonial government. Instead, it was very limited. The Dutch colonial policies, especially the one concerning education were driven by their interest of economic benefits for themselves over the improvement of the indigenous people of the Dutch East Indies' welfare.   Artikel ini membahas mengenai dinamika akses pendidikan bagi pribumi saat berlangsungya Politik Etis. Seperti yang diketahui, Belanda sebagai negara yang terlama mengeksploitasi Hindia Belanda membuat negara tersebut menanggung beban balas budi terhadap koloninya. Beban balas budi tersebut terwujud melalui program Politik Etis yang memiliki tiga program, yakni irigasi, transmigrasi, dan edukasi. Dari ketiga itu, pendidikan merupakan salah satu program Politik Etis dan salah satu program yang memiliki dampak besar bagi pergerakan nasional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode historis dengan analisis studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan meskipun pendidikan berhasil meruntuhkan dominasi kolonial, pendidikan saat periode Etis pun tidak serta merta langsung diberikan begitu saja oleh pemerintah kolonial meskipun tujuan Politik Etis adalah balas budi, pemberian pendidikan diberikan secara serba terbatas. Kebijakan-kebijakan pemerintah kolonial, khususnya di bidang pendidikan didorong oleh kepentingan keuntungan ekonomi bagi mereka sendiri alih-alih oleh motif untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat setempat.

In this era when technological advances make students vulnerable to unverified information, hoax, history learning has an important role in stimulating their criticism and literacy skills. Students understanding in the historical method which is consists of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and art of historical writing as an effective working tool should be pursued one of them by obtaining such knowledge from historian’s experience presented in the learning process. This study uses the classroom action research method with Elliot's design to answer the problem of how to improve students' abilities in historical research through the use of historian's experience? From this study it can be concluded 1) there is increase in historical research skills after the students get material historian experience; 2) it also increase students' criticism in choosing sources of reference; 3) history learning becomes more interesting and challenging for students.Keyword: Historical method, history learning, historical research, historian, classroom action research

In order for a person to motivate others, he must first find an adequate way to motivate himself. If we want to make the work with other people more successful, it is very important to know what motivates people in the environment. Motivation involves the process of initiating and directing human behavior, it is an internal force that drives us to achieve our goals and meet our needs. Greater curiosity and interest contribute to achieving greater success in all fields, and in particular the success of students in school. In contrast, lack of motivation impedes anything to be done in a better way. Poor motivation leads to failure, to the extent that one performs activities without ambition and with great difficulty. Studying the literature aims to determine what role motivation plays in the educational context, which is at the same time the basic goal. It also wants to point out the importance of motivation in teaching. The paper used the historical method as the basic method of historical research and analysis of the contents of pedagogical documentation. One of the basic tasks of teachers is to familiarize students with the nature of motivation and to teach them the procedures that develop motivation for students to learn. This is the key to the success of both the teacher and the students themselves.

AbstrakPenulisan artikel ini didasari perdebatan bagaimana sesungguhnya peranan para pangreh praja didikan Barat dalam perjuangan kemerdekaan. Oleh karena berada dalam pemerintahan Hindia Belanda, mereka dianggap tidak berkontribusi dalam perjuangan kemerdekaan. Bahkan, mereka dianggap merintangi gerak langkah kaum pergerakan sehingga sering dianggap sebagai lawan politik. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap sejarah pemikiran dan mentalitas dari salah seorang bupati  terkemuka pribumi asal Banten, Ahmad Djajadiningrat, melalui memoarnya yang berjudul Memoar Pangeran Aria Djajadiningrat. Pangeran Aria Ahmad Djajadiningrat mengikuti pendidikan mulai dari HIS, ELS, hingga HBS di Batavia. Berbagai jabatan di pemerintahan diembannya, mulai dari bupati, anggota Volksraad, mindere welvaart comissie, hingga anggota Raad van Indie. Penelitian ini mempergunakan metode sejarah yang terdiri atas heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Ahmad Djajadiningrat di satu sisi menjadi pemimpin tradisional yang kharismatis dan aparat pemerintah yang loyal, namun di sisi lain bersikap kritis terhadap kebijakan pemerintah Hindia Belanda dan mendorong berkembangnya pergerakan nasional di tanah Banten. AbstractThe writing of this article is based on the actual debate on what the role of Western-based education of pangreh pradja is in the struggle for independence. Because it is in the Dutch East Indies, they are considered not to be contributing to the struggle for independence. In fact, they were considered to hinder the movement of the steps that are often regarded as political opponents. This study aims to reveal the history of thought and mentality of anative and famousleader from Banten, Ahmad Djajadiningrat, through his memoirs entitled Memoirs of Prince Aria Djajadiningrat. The Prince Aria Ahmad Djajadiningrat started his education in HIS, ELS, to HBS in Batavia.  The various positions in government was held, ranging from the regents, members of the Volksraad, mindere Welvaart comissie, until become a member of the Raad van Indie. This study uses historical method which consists of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results shows that Ahmad Djajadiningrat isa traditional charismatic leader and a loyal government official. On the other hand, he is critical to the Dutch East Indies government policies and encouraging the development of a national movement in Banten.

AbstractThis study aims to explain the conflict Ambon, political upheaval in North Maluku to ethnic and religious conflicts 1999-2000. This study uses historical method. Historical research includes five stages: topic selection, heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The conflict that occurred since 19 January 1999 Maluku is a bloody event that coincides with Muslims celebrating the Eid al-Fitr 1419 Hijri. The conflict stems from a dispute between an angkot driver, a Christian Jacob Lauhery with Nursalim, an Islam of the Bugis Red Stone. Conflict then developed into religious conflict (Islam and Christian). In North Maluku conflicts also occur, local political upheaval, North Maluku causing polarization in society to ethnic and religious conflicts. The North Maluku conflict is also part of a power struggle. Another factor is the creation of a new sub-district of Makian Malifut based on PP. No.42 / 1999 has been rejected by the Kao community because it is considered contrary to customary law. The event spread to Tidore, Ternate, Jailolo and Bacan. The North Maluku conflict claimed thousands of lives, homes and places of worship, both Muslims and Christians burned. During the conflict, Pela Gandong in Ambon, Maluku and indigenous people in Maluku Kie Raha as a customary and cultural system no longer functions as a strong social bond.  Keywords: Conflict, Communal, Maluku, Ethnicity

The main problem discussed in this study, “how was the role of Sudharmono in leading the Golongan Karya (1983-1988)”. The research method used was the historical method including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Based on result’s study, Sudharmono was Soeharto’s right-hand man in New Order’s era. This proven with the candidacy of Sudharmono as Golkar Chairman from 1983-1988, that was directly elected by Soeharto. Sudharmono was a figure who contributed to Golkar’s progress in the New Order (1983-1988). Sudharmono was a Chairman from civilian,however, he could take Golkar to maximum advancement. These advancements were made because Sudharmono had taken formal and non-formal education with tremendously well. His great accomplishments made Sudharmono become a figurewho could work more. Sudharmono has made Golkar better through his policy called Tri Sukses Golkar, such as Sukses Konsolidasi, Sukses Repelita IV and Sukses Pemilu 1987, as well as General Assembly of MPR 1988. The policy that made by Sudharmonohave connectedness because if consolidation succeeded, it would affect success for other policy namely Repelita and the General Election of 1987. A great victory of Golkar in General Election of 1987, had succeeded made Sudharmono became the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia in 1988. This accomplishment became a threat to Soeharto because he could replace him from the presidency position. To prevent such action, Soeharto forbade Sudharmono to proposed back to became Golkar’s Chairman for 1988-1993 period.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui latar belakang kehidupan Haji Patarai Daeng Ma’ruppa, Peran dan Kiprahnya sebagai pegawai peternakan dan kepala Desa/Lurah Bontonompo, serta Peran dan Kiprahnya sebagai pemangku adat dan pelestari Gaukanga di Bontonompo. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bersifat deskriptif-analisis dengan menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah melalui tahap heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Haji Patarai Daeng Ma’ruppa adalah keturunan Karaeng Polombangekeng. Menjadi teladan dalam masyarakat Bontonompo pada masa pemerintahannya. Selain sebagai teladan dalam bidang pemerintahan, Haji Patarai Daeng Ma’ruppa juga merupakan seorang pemerhati dan pelestari budaya. Denga Peran dan Kiprah sebagai pemangku adat dan Gaukanga di Bontonompo. Kesimpulan bahwa Haji Patarai Daeng Ma’ruppa memiliki Peran dan Kiprah dalam pemerintah dan Pelestarian Gaukanga serta menjadi Pemangku Adat di Bontonompo.Kata Kunci: Peran, Kiprah, dan Haji Patarai Daeng Ma’ruppa This study aims to determine the background of the life of Haji Patarai Daeng Ma'ruppa, his role and progress as an employee of animal husbandry and the head of Bontonompo Village / Village, and his role and role as customary and preserver of Gaukanga in Bontonompo. This research is a descriptive-analysis study using historical research methods through the heuristic, critical, interpretation and historiographic stages. The results of this study indicate that the Daeng Ma'ruppa Patarai Hajj is a descendant of Karaeng Polombangekeng. Being a role model in the Bontonompo community during his reign. Aside from being an example in the field of government, Haji Patarai Daeng Ma'ruppa is also a cultural observer and preserver. With the role and role of the indigenous people and Gaukanga in Bontonompo. The main problems studied in this article is how the creation process of the art of cianjuran music and how far the role of R. A. A. Wiranatakusumah V in spreading the art of cianjuran music in Priangan in the 20th century. To get the answers to those problems, the historical research has been done with the method of research which consists of four phases: heuristik, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The application of historical method is then ellaborated with social science theories, among of those is the theory of change and continuity of K. J. Veeger.The result of the research indicates that the art of cianjuran music was born as a creativity result of Cianjur aristocratics adopting from some vocal arts among Sundanese society such as: poetry, degung, and kawih. In its growth, the art of cianjuran adapts with the change of epoch so that its existence can be kept well. In this case, R. A. A. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang SMAN 1 Luwu sebagai wadah proses pendidikan di Kabupaten Luwu 1967-2017) dengan mengungkap proses berdirinya SMAN 1 Luwu dan perkembangan SMAN 1 Luwu dalam periode 1967-1998 dan periode 1998-2017 serta peranan keberadaan SMAN 1 Luwu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, berdirinya SMAN 1 Luwu dimulai pada masa kepemimpinan Husain Saweni (1967-1980). Proses pendirian SMAN 1 Luwu tidak terlepas dari peran masyarakat yang menginginkan adanya pendirian sekolah sebagai sarana pendidikan formal. Perkembangan SMAN 1 Luwu dapat di lihat dari perkembangan sarana dan prasarana yang mengalami peningkatan serta prestasi-prestasi yang di raih oleh peserta didik baik akademik maupun non akademik. Keberadaan SMAN 1 Luwu sebagai pelopor pertama berdirinya sekolah pendidikan tingkat SMA dan termasuk sekolah yang diunggulkan dalam hal pencapaian prestasi di Kabupaten Luwu. Pendirian sekolah ini di rasakan masyarakat sebagai satu jalan dalam peningkatan pengembangan pendidikan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat di simpulkan bahwa masyarakat yang berperan aktif dalam proses pendirian SMAN 1 Luwu. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beberapa hal di antaranya sulitnya akses pendidikan tingkat SMA di Luwu, kesadaran akan pentingnya pendidikan, serta dukungan dari pihak masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah yang meliputi heuristik yaitu tahapan pengumpulan data, kritik sumber bertujuan menilai dan menentukan sumber, interpretasi yaitu menafsirkan data dan tahap historiografi atau penyajian atau penulisan sejarah. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara penelitian lapangan terdiri dari wawancara (wakil kepala sekolah dan alumni SMAN 1 Luwu) dan mengumpulkan dokumen sekolah serta literatur-literatur  yang berhubungan dengan penelitian ini.Kata kunci: Perkembangan, SMA, Luwu AbstractThis study aims to know about SMAN 1 Luwu as a vessel through the process of education in the district Luwu 1967-2017) to uncover the process establishment of the SMAN 1 Luwu and development SMAN 1 Luwu in a period 1967-1998 and 1998-2017 as well as the role of the existence of SMAN 1 Luwu. This is caused by some of them difficult access education level of high school in Luwu, mindfulness will be the importance of education, as well as the support of the community. The paper deals with the problem of the establishment of capitalism in Russia in the late 19 - early 20th centuries. Using a wide array of historical research and documents the author argues that the thesis on the advanced state of capitalism in Russia in the beginning of the 20th century does not stand up to historical scrutiny, and the role of the famous Emancipation reform of 1861 appears to be of limited importance.
