Traditional cupping therapy is an alternative therapy that is invasive in society. The Indonesian Cupping Association (PBI) has established a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) as a guide for its practitioners in service. In this study, an analysis of the SOP items was evaluated on 30 cupping practitioners in the DKI Jakarta area. This study aims to obtain an overview of the SOP with easy, medium, and difficult categories that can be fulfilled by cupping practitioners and are expected to provide input to the Standard Cupping Operational Procedure module. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study, conducted on 30 cupping practitioners in DKI Jakarta who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collection method was done by observing cupping practitioners three times each to avoid bias in their behavior. In addition, interviews were also conducted with 30 clients who use cupping services to assess SOP  impression. Data analysis explained descriptively. Results show that there were SOP activities in the Standard Cupping Operational Procedure module with an easy category of 64.5%, a moderate category of 14.5%, and a difficult category of 21%.  There are easy categories that mean infrastructure, namely 72.7%, 13.6% moderate category, and difficult category of 13.6%. The conclusion contained in the SOP are included in the easy category. However, SOP items still need attention and supervision, especially SOP items with medium and difficult categories.

Summary Introduction: Patients who are treating cancer have often used alternative therapies. In the internet era, information can be broadcasted widely, and this happened with phosphoethanolamine in Brazil, where this substance was claimed by the population to be the "cure for cancer." Method: This is a cross-sectional study developed by the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC). An objectively structured questionnaire was sent by e-mail and SMS to active MDs members of the SBOC. Descriptive statistics was used to evaluate the data. Statistical significance between the variables was tested by Pearson's Chi-squared test (p<0.05 was considered significance). Results: The survey was sent to 1,072 oncologists, and 398 (37.1%) answered at least part of it. One hundred and fifteen (28.9%) had followed patients who had used phosphoethanolamine. Among these, 14 (12.2%) observed adverse events and four (3.5%) attributed clinical benefit to the substance. Most of the oncologists (n=331; 83.2%) believe that it should only be used as part of a clinical trial protocol. Most physicians did not recommend this drug to their patients (n=311; 78.1%). Oncologists in Southeast, South and Midwest Brazil were more likely to have patients taking the drug compared to the Northern and Northeastern regions. Conclusion: This is the first survey to assess the opinion and experience of oncologists about this alternative therapy. Most oncologists in Brazil do not believe that synthetic phosphoethanolamine is active in cancer treatment, do not recommend its use without proper evaluation, and state that it should only be available to patients in the context of clinical trials.

INTRODUCTION: COVID-19 pandemic has caused a major impact to global public health including one of the high risk groups which is the medical students. This study was intended to assess knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) towards COVID-19 among medical students in International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). MATERIAL AND METHOD: An online cross-sectional study was conducted among 438 medical students of IIUM from 6th July 2020 to 9th July 2020. KAP towards COVID-19 was measured using a structured Malay and English version questionnaire consisting of 13 items on knowledge, 3 items on attitudes and 3 items on practices. RESULTS: The average correct response rate on knowledge was 85.4%. Only 12.1% of the students had correct knowledge on all items, and 1 in every 4 and 5 students had misconceptions on the clinical features and transmission of COVID-19. In term of attitudes towards COVID-19, majority of the respondents believed that COVID-19 would be effectively controlled (85%) and had faith that Malaysia could overcome the war against COVID-19 (99%). Most of the respondents practiced good towards COVID-19 in avoiding crowded places (90%), wearing face masks (95%) and practicing hand hygiene (91.6%). CONCLUSION: Although the results are positive towards KAP, only 1 in every 10 students responded correctly to all knowledge questions, and few proportions had misconceptions on the disease and did not maintain adequate practices. Policies aimed at appropriate health promotion activities may ensure empowering the medical students with adequate knowledge on all aspects of COVID-19, and practice properly following the standard operating procedure implemented by the government.

It is estimated that more than 27,200 of Malaysians’ deaths annually are related to smoking. Majority of the smokers start smoking at the early age, smoke more than 15 years and spend less than RM 100 for cigarettes in a month. So, this study aims to determine the trend of smoking among smokers in a residential area in Dengkil, Sepang, Selangor. A cross-sectional study was conducted among Malaysian, aged more than 18-year-old with a combination of stratified, systematic and simple random sampling. Respondents who fulfill the inclusion & exclusion criteria were interviewed using a validated questionnaire and data were analysed using SPSS. The prevalence of current smoker was 23.5% with higher among male (50.7%), single (31.0%) and self-employed (44.1%). Peer pressure plays important role in either to start or to quit from smoking. It is important to increase awareness program primarily in educational institutions such as schools and colleges. Keywords: smoking, trend, prevalence, sub-urban, Selangor, Malaysian.

Background: It is important to detect and manage hydronephrosis early for improved clinical outcomes. The objective of this study is to detect and manage the hydronephrosis which occurs antenatally. Methods: Hospital based cross sectional study was carried out in 20 cases of hydronephrosis in pregnant women as per the inclusion and exclusion criteria laid down for the present study. Patients with mild hydronephrosis were observed. Patients with PUJ obstruction underwent pyeloplasty. Patients with posterior urethral valves underwent cystoscopic dilatation. Patients with VUR were put on prophylactic antibiotic and observed. The patients were followed up post operatively with USG and DTPA scan as indicated. Results: Among the 20 cases with hydronephrosis, majority were males. All cases in terms of side affected were found to be equally distributed. Hydronephrosis was found to be mild in seven (35%) of the cases. Renal dysplasia and bilateral hydronephrosis were found to be the predictors of post natal pathology. Grade 3 and grade 4 were 40% each. There was no persistent case. The most common cause of hydronephrosis was transient hypertension in 5 (33.3%) of the cases. Conclusions: Mild hydronephrosis resolves early and there is no persistence. Renal dysplasia and bilateral hydronephrosis are the important predictors of the post natal hydronephrosis.

BACKGROUND: Stroke is a leading cause of disability and remains the second leading cause of death in the world. Some of the pathogenesis of stroke are interactions between genetic and acquired risk factors, the interaction is related with the atherosclerotic which is the main pathogenesis of ischaemic stroke. Previous studies demonstrated an association between methylene tetra hydro folate reductase (MTHFR) genotype and ischaemic stroke; the MTHFR C677T genotype is one of the independent risk factor. AIM: This study aims to know about the role of polymorphism gen MTHFR C677T in ischaemic stroke patients with and without hypertension. METHODS: This study is a cross-sectional study, the sample was taken consecutively, after approval by the Medical Faculty Science’s Ethics Committee at University Sumatera Utara. All sample matched with inclusion and exclusion criteria, demography data and blood sample were taken. Demography data were analysed using descriptive statistic. RESULTS: Of the 106 ischaemic stroke patients were divided into two groups, the first group is patients with hypertension (53 patients), and the second group is without hypertension (53 patients). We have done the PCR- RFLP to all the patients, we got 78 patients with 677CC of MTHFR genotype, 23 patients with 677CT genotype and 5 patients with 677TT genotype. We found polymorphism C677T is more frequent in ischaemic stroke patients with hypertension (16 patients; 69.5%), and all the patient with 677TT genotype are an ischaemic stroke with hypertension (5 patients; 100%). CONCLUSION: We concluded that polymorphism MTHFR C677T have an important role in hypertension and ischaemic stroke.
