The enterprise has an intricate and elaborate system of relationships between the departments, functioning closely as a cell within an organism, with its defined role within the market. In the complex context of actual economic system, resources are limited and enterprises seek for efficiency in order to reduce costs. In this paper we present the development of a solution for the optimization of an agricultural enterprise related to the plastic-based materials usage in the agricultural processes. In this matter, the experimental part consists in the creation of a model of a plastic management system using methodologies from the literature (e. g., System Dynamics or SD etc.) and its simulation with specific tools used traditionally. Besides the experimental part, we will make a short analysis regarding the structural and economic issues regarding plastics used in agriculture and some considerations regarding the bioplastic material that can be obtained from different types of agricultural waste.

The relevance of creating integrated management systems for enterprises in a digital transformation environment is proved. New approaches to improving the management system in accordance with the new European excellence model (EFQM 2020) and international standards for achieving sustainable success and risk management are described. Approach to the development of integrated management system model based on the new EFQM 2020 model and international standards such as ISO 9004:2018 and ISO 31000:2018 is offered.

Development of an artificial tissue by tissue engineering is witnessed to be one of the long lasting clarified solutions for the damaged tissue function restoration. To accomplish this, a scaffold is designed as a cell carrier in which the extracellular matrix (ECM) performs a prominent task of controlling the inoculated cell’s destiny. ECM composition, topography and mechanical properties lead to different types of interactions between cells and ECM components that trigger an assortment of cellular reactions via diverse sensing mechanisms and downstream signaling pathways. The polysaccharides in the form of proteoglycans and glycoproteins yield better outcomes when included in the designed matrices. Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) chains present on proteoglycans show a wide range of operations such as sequestering of critical effector morphogens which encourage proficient nutrient contribution toward the growing stem cells for their development and endurance. In this review we discuss how the glycosylation aspects are of considerable importance in everyday housekeeping functions of a cell especially when placed in a controlled environment under ideal growth conditions. Hydrogels made from these GAG chains have been used extensively as a resorbable material that mimics the natural ECM functions for an efficient control over cell attachment, permeability, viability, proliferation, and differentiation processes. Also the incorporation of non-mammalian polysaccharides can elicit specific receptor responses which authorize the creation of numerous vigorous frameworks while prolonging the low cost and immunogenicity of the substance.

This paper presents an L1 adaptive controller for pressure control using an engine bleed valve in an aircraft air management system (AMS). The air management system is composed of two pressure-regulating bleed valves, a temperature control valve, a flow control valve, and a heat exchanger/precooler. Valve hysteresis due to backlash and dry friction is included in the system model. The nonlinearities involved in the system cause oscillations under linear controllers, which decrease component life. This paper is the unique in the consideration of these uncertainties for control design. This paper presents simulation results using the adaptive controller and compares them to those using a proportional–integral (PI) controller.

The article describes managing the processes of an organization as managing a holistic entity through the characteristics of the value stream. At the same time, the value stream is an activity aimed at creating the value for customer, which is implemented through a system of interconnected processes/operations. The article demonstrates the possibilities of integrating the modern models, standards, methods and tools for quality management and lean production into the processes of an organization in order to achieve the aims. Integrated management system model based on quality management and lean production technologies is presented.

Three different types of biomass sourced from forestry waste (eucalyptus residues), agricultural waste (wheat straw), and energy crop (miscanthus) were used as starting materials to produce hemicellulosic sugars, furans (furfural and hydroxymethylfurfural), and oligosaccharides. A two-step hybrid process was implemented; biomass was first autohydrolysed without any additive to extract hemicelluloses and dissolve it in water. Then, the hydrolysate was treated with a solid acid catalyst, TiO2-WOx, in order to achieve hydrolysis and produce monomeric sugars and furans. This article investigates the role of the biomass type, autohydrolysis experimental conditions, polymerisation degree and composition of hemicelluloses on the performance of the process coupling autohydrolysis and catalytic hydrolysis. The highest global yields of both oligosaccharides and monomeric sugars were obtained from Eucalyptus (37% and 18%, respectively).
