In recent years, the university libraries in China have acquired increasingly abundant electronic resources. However, the information silo phenomenon appears due to the lack of connection between university IT system and the community. Based on the book borrowing, favourite collection, comments and social relationship of students, this paper digs into the personalized interests of students, and promotes the design and implementation of a personalized recommender system. Specifically, the overall framework and recommender engine of the system were created based on the library data services. The modules in the system were also elaborated, and the recommendation results were verified by an offline test.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the websites of university libraries to ascertain that libraries are effectively utilizing their respective websites to provide easy access to all electronic resources available in the library. The objective was also to a represent a comparative analysis between public and private university library websites regarding the presence of electronic resources with their easy access via the internet. For the purpose of this study, a research instrument in the form of comprehensive checklist of eighteen e-resources was developed to evaluate their accessibility in the websites of public and private university libraries. Twenty university library websites, comprised of ten top-ranked public and ten top-ranked private universities in Bangladesh, were studied for data collection using content analysis method. The findings demonstrate that the presence of e-resources on selected university library websites is still in its early stage, but it has been growing rapidly. The private university library websites are ahead of public university libraries in terms of the integration of web-resources. It is hoped that the findings of this paper will serve to assist the University librarians and other similar institutions in choosing, selecting and acquiring the most appropriate format of information resources, and making these available to their websites, which will both satisfy the needs of their library users and fit within their library budget.

<span>In the fall of 2002, Ohio State University along with the University of Washington, the University of Western Australia, Washington State University, and Glasgow University entered into a development partnership with Innovative Interfaces. The goal was to develop a module to manage electronic resources, integrated into Innovative’s Millennium library system. The product, Electronic Resource Management (ERM), became available in 2004 and is based on the work of the Digital Library Federation Electronic Resources Management Initiative. This article focuses on one aspect of ERM, the integration of the module with the Web OPAC, and describes how the Ohio State University Libraries replaced a back-end database with ERM to support lists of electronic resources on their Web site.</span>

On average, the University libraries in India have spent 43.54 per cent of their budget on the procurement of print resources and 56.46 per cent of their budget on the procurement of electronic resources during the period of study. Similarly, on average, each Institute of Engineering and Technology has spent 24.04 per cent of their library budget on the procurement of print documents and 75.96 per cent towards the procurement of electronic resources, whereas 27.51 per cent of the library budget by the Institutes of Management in India is being spent on the procurement of print resources and 72.49 per cent towards the procurement of electronic resources. The article analyzes the results of survey of 1357 employees of the Russian Universities. The aim of the study is to identify various aspects of use of library resources and services, as well as to reveal the degree of satisfaction with the work of libraries. The survey results are presented for the sample as a whole and by specific groups of respondents, selected by the place of work (employees of the leading and metropolitan universities) and by preferences in the use of new formats of resources (only working with electronic resources or their subset - licensed resources). It is concluded that the users highly appreciate the work of libraries in general, however demonstrate the need for improvement in the use of licensed resources: the need for the new search services, new forms of library support when using these resources and the opportunity to work with them outside of the University premises. Key words: Survey, University Libraries, Library Resources, Library Services, Electronic Resources, Licensed Resources, Leading Universities, Sociological Data, Quantitative Methods of Analysis

In January 2014, Mason Libraries along with four other libraries in Virginia used 4-VA telepresence technology to teach a two-day boot camp to graduate students on research data management. Our workshop generated greater than expected interest from graduate students here at Mason. One lesson learned is that there appears to be a gap in the curriculum across all participating schools regarding the teaching of data management skills to budding researchers. This session will be an overview of the learning outcomes from the Data Management Boot Camp, how the University Libraries' Data Services carries out research data management training, and discussion of future plans for helping researchers organize and manage their data.
