Considering the manner in which technology is proliferating in all spheres of life, it is becoming pivotal to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning process, in today’s information age classrooms, by implementing digital learning tools. The purpose of this study is to determine the consequences of technological implementation on students’ academic achievements, in higher education. A mixed method, qualitative and quantitative, was used to collect data. A total of 40 students studying the course entitled English for Business in Department of English Language & Literature, College of Arts, during the academic year 2017-18 at University of Bahrain participated in this study. The findings obtained from the quantitative evaluation and qualitative dimensions of the study revealed that the course educators and students had a positive attitude towards the use of educational technologies as it impacted students’ performances positively.

Christian Louis Lange once said, "Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master." The effective use of technology in education has changed the face of education and it has created more educational opportunities. Both teachers and students have benefited from various educational technologies, teachers have learned how to integrate technology in their classrooms and students are getting more interested in learning with technology.The use of technology in education has removed educational boundaries, both students and teachers have collaborated in real time using advanced educational technologies. However we need to make sure that technology is used by teachers only to facilitate the learning process, not to replace the teachers. Extensive use of technology acts as an impediment to the systemized to the teaching-learning process.   Recent advancements in educational technologies have yielded positive results in our education sector. New educational technology supports both the teaching and learning processes. Technology has digitized classrooms through digital learning tools like computers, ipads, smartphones, smart digital whiteboards. It has expanded course offerings, and has increased student's engagement and motivation towards learning.  This paper deals with the problems faced by teachers while teaching English in the traditional methods. In this chapter, the two authors co-construct meaning of their individual lived experiences as education faculty engaging in online teaching and learning. It highlights each faculty unique experiences facilitating graduate student learning in an online environment. Co-construction of meaning centers on pedagogical approaches, program design and focus, reflection of faculty-self experiences, employment of digital learning tools, and utilization of best practices of each faculty experience with teaching and learning in an online environment. This narrative is co-constructed following a collaborative autoethnographic approach by two faculty, whereby the central descriptions of each faculty member is situated in one's lived experiences and rich story of facilitating and instructing courses in an online learning environment. The faculty experiences are mainly derived from teaching graduate courses offered by a department of education. The research method in presenting two self-reflective narratives in online teaching and learning extends to doing “collaborative autoethnography.”

Abstract At a time when the advances in information and communication technologies meant that new approaches to virtual teaching and learning could be proposed, the teaching staff on the degree in Translation and Interpreting at UVic decided to offer part of the degree in distance learning mode. This learning mode was launched in the 2001–2002 academic year, with optional face-to-face teaching sessions some Saturdays and coexisted with the traditional face-to-face courses. During the first years, the fourth-year interpreting specialisation subjects were not taught online for technical and pedagogical reasons. Since the 2014-2015 academic year, we also teach these subjects online. The challenge that we face starting the 2017-2018 academic year is twofold: 1. To adapt the online teaching of interpreting subjects to groups with a high number of students in the new Inter-university Degree in Translation, Interpreting and Applied Languages jointly offered by the University of Vic and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). 2. To adapt the contents and methodology of interpreting subjects to changes in professional practice: telephone and videoconference interpreting, especially in liaison interpreting. In our paper, we will show some online teaching resources, as well as several online tools which we use in our courses.

Revolutionary changes have been brought about in teaching and learning environment with the introduction of electronic formats in classrooms. Mobile dictionaries are potentially valuable learning tools today. This study has strived to get insight into the prospects of using mobile dictionary in an EFL classroom of university students of Pakistan with reference to teachers’ perspective. The aims of this study are to know foreign language teachers’ point of view regarding the use of mobile dictionary in English class, investigate the challenges in introducing this e-tool and explore the benefits EFL learners can have through the use of mobile dictionaries in English class. To achieve the objectives of this quantitative study, the researcher has got a questionnaire filled by fifty English language teachers working at different government colleges in Pakistan. The questionnaire which was used to collect data from college teachers consisted of two sections. The first section comprised of fifteen questionnaire items on five-point Likert scale the second section consisted of two open-ended questions. The reliability of the first part of the questionnaire was computed through SPSS (XX). It has been found that most of the college teachers are of the view that the use of mobile dictionary in an EFL class of university students will help them learn vocabulary, pronunciation of words and word origin. These EFL learners can also access authentic content and develop their language competence through the use of mobile phone dictionary in the class. Apart from this, the participants have also pointed out some problems which can be a hindrance in using mobile dictionary in an EFL classroom in the context of Pakistan.

The increment of concern in the use of online learning tools into English Language Teaching to adopt the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has inspired this study to examine students’ thoughts on Edmodo, as one of the online learning tools, at the English Literature department within the University of Bangka Belitung. Edmodo is used by the researchers to discuss the students’ attitude in improving their English skills. Data were collected by means of questionnaires and interview. A Likert scale questionnaire was administered and open-ended interviews were conducted to get more information from the students. Data were qualitatively and quantitatively analysed by using SPSS v.22 Software. The results reveal that the Edmodo usage is aiding students’ cooperation in small group discussions, reflecting that teaching and learning activities established on the ground of communicative teaching method were able to improve cooperation and communication, raising students’ motivation to take part and involve in various learning and also empowering them to be self-determining and be more responsible for their own learning. This study is an endeavor to attract more researchers to do further investigations on this area within the Indonesian English learners at the university level.

The government has declared that all Malaysians that no one; both in rural and urban areas; would be divested from the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development. This calls for a need for teachers nationwide to make essential adjustments to the teaching and learning process. This paper takes a closer gaze on the obstructions faced by teachers in integrating ICT tools in teaching English language in the classrooms. This study aspires at determining why the teachers do not use ICT in the classrooms even they were utterly encouraged by sufficient technical supports.10 English teachers from a Secondary School were interviewed and their views and thoughts were discussed. The findings exposed that even the school is highly resourced with ICT tools and facilities, obstructions such as lack of time, amount of workload, lack of ICT skills and teachers’ negative attitudes towards ICT were hindering the teachers to incorporate ICT in their teaching. However, the teachers should be competent to shape and systematize their learning environment in non-traditional ways by merging the ICT with new pedagogy.

Abstract: Pandemic Covid-19 has had a direct impact on the world of education. The limitation of the crowd in community activities in public places causes the world of education to maximize the use of information and communication technology as a medium for distance learning or online. This encourages educators/ teachers to formulate alternatives for distance learning media by adapting them according to the conditions of available facilities and infrastructure, and mastering the use of a number of digital platforms that can be used as alternative learning media. This digital-based learning innovation training activity aims to introduce and assist the use of several digital learning media in one of the schools, namely SMK Lingua Prima Indralaya. Assessment of the success of the training held was carried out through a pretest and post-test. Assistance is carried out so that teachers understand and gain insight in formulating innovative learning methods in the implementation of the distance or online teaching and learning process. In this training, introduction and assistance were carried out related to the use of audio podcasts, maximizing the function of social media and also designing materials with attractive and innovative PowerPoint templates.Keywords: digital based learning; effective learning; pandemic period  Abstrak: Pandemi Covid-19 telah berdampak secara langsung terhadap dunia pendidikan. Dibatasinya kerumunan dalam aktivitas masyarakat ditempat umum menyebabkan dunia pendidikan harus memaksimalkan penggunaan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi sebagai media pembelajaran jarak jauh atau daring. Hal ini mendorong tenaga pendidik / guru harus merumuskan alternatif-alternatif media pembelajaran jarak jauh dengan cara mengadaptasinya sesuai dengan kondisi sarana dan prasarana yang tersedia, serta menguasai penggunaan sejumlah platform digital yang dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran alternatif. Kegiatan pelatihan inovasi belajar berbasis digital ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pengenalan dan pendampingan penggunaan beberapa media pembelajaran digital di salah satu sekolah, yakni SMK Lingua Prima Indralaya. Penilaian terhadap keberhasilan pelatihan yang diselenggarakan ini dilakukan melalui pretest dan post-test. Pendampingan dilakukan agar para guru memahami dan menambah wawasan dalam merumuskan metode pembelajaran yang inovatif dalam pelaksanaan proses belajar mengajar jarak jauh atau daring. Pada pelatihan ini dilakukan pengenalan dan pendampingan terkait penggunaan podcast audio, memaksimalkan fungsi media sosial dan juga merancang materi dengan template powerpoint yang menarik dan inovatif.Kata Kunci: masa pandemi; pembelajaran berbasis digital; pembelajaran efektif

This paper explores not only the care of the indigenous in nativity of teaching of English Language and also advising the methods for language learners and language teachers, the methods where all learners do have some access for cognitive knowledge of intellectual development in language. The learners according to GT method to use their cognitive faculty to memorize grammatical rules, vocabulary lists, translation and reading comprehension and many more. This paper doesn’t explain all the rules but principal characteristics of GT method, it suggests GT method importance. It unravels the focus learning through cognitive system which is a real thinking as native speakers do. The word indigenous here meant the nativity of EL, the teaching of educated native speakers of ELT which second language teachers cannot faithfully do the same but there are absolute qualities can be gained from native speakers learning. There are hundreds and thousands of software technologies that teach English Language. Information and communication technologies (ICT) refer to technologies that provide easy access to information through telecommunications. This includes the internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums. Learning EL through ICT is a half-backed knowledge.  All developed countries they setup and use digital learning. Here thanks to technology but if the curriculum is not designed with the standard approaches and the methods of ELT, surely a wrong learning enter! Even it leads to kill the language standards due to unnecessary globalized jargon. Globalization is one of the many terms virtually quotidian in present times discourse.

In her previous-related study the researcher discussed about the digital learning model aiming at educating Indonesian students and English language teaching and learning practitioners in increasing the listening and speaking skills in English (Wahyuni, 2017). Meanwhile in this research, the researcher focused on the students’ perception on the use of smartphone as an English learning media especially for Indonesian Secondary High School (SMA) students. This is the type of concurrent mix (combination) research whose qualitative method is more highly used than its quantitative method. Data collecting techniques in this research are survey study with Likert-scaled questionnaire, direct observation, and interview. The survey result then classified and ranked statistically to know the frequency level of the smartphone use in learning English as well as to encounter students’ perception on it.To present more comprehensive data and information, the research result then quantitatively illustrated in an appropriate chart or diagram, and qualitatively described in narrative form. The implication about the use of smart phone is presented as well to give more insightful view for the students or teachers about how to maximize the advantages of smart phone media in learning English.

Models are simplified representations of more complex systems that help scientists structure the knowledge they acquire. As such, they are ubiquitous and invaluable in scientific research and communication. Because science education strives to make classroom activities more closely reflect science in practice, models have become integral teaching and learning tools woven throughout the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Although model-based learning and curriculum are not novel in educational theory, only recently has modeling taken center stage in K–12 national standards for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) classes. We present a variety of examples to outline the importance of various types of models and the practice of modeling in biological research, as well as the emphasis of NGSS on their use in both classroom learning and assessment. We then suggest best practices for creating and modifying models in the context of student-driven inquiry and demonstrate that even subtle incorporation of modeling into existing science curricula can help achieve student learning outcomes, particularly for English-language learners. In closing, we express the value of models and modeling in life beyond the classroom and research laboratory, and highlight the critical importance of “model literacy” for the next generation of scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers.
