Manual time and attendance systems are still being practiced within a considerable number of universities, colleges, government departments and companies. This traditional system requires the user to fill in their timesheets or sign on the attendance sheet manually. The practice inefficient and ineffective for university’s student attendance recording due to,  i) lecturer may lose the attendance sheet, ii) student may sign for their friends, iii) student may forget to sign on the attendance sheet, and iv) challenging to monitor attendance rate and analysis. Thus, there is a necessity to change these traditional attendance recording methods to a more efficient one. The attendance rate is significant because students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend classes consistently. As such, a mobile app, namely Smart-Hadir, is designed to overcome problems as mentioned above. Smart-Hadir is a smartphone application developed by UMS aimed to record student attendance digitally during a class session. The technology used is slightly different from the existing applications, where Smart-Hadir is not using RFID technology but rather covers NFC, QR code, and beacon technologies. Attendance could be taken either using NFC or QR code displayed on the wall using a projector or scan the available beacon. Lecturers can create class session using the Smart-Hadir anywhere and anytime. Students are then required to take their attendance either scan the QR code, search the beacon, or swiped their student card on the lecturer’s phone. The students’ attendance will be immediately captured and saved into the database. Lecturers will be able to view the statistic report, identify and e-mail absentees, as well as monitor students’ attendance behaviour. A statistical report can be generated. It shows the percentages of students’ attendance rate, absent rate, and status. The Smart-Hadir is advantageous as it can be used to capture meeting or event attendance record as well.

As digital technology develops, users create expectations for performance that may be violated when malfunctions occur. This project examined how priming expectations of technology performance (high v. low v. no) and experiences of technology malfunction (present v. not present) can influence feelings of frustration and performance on a task. A preliminary sample of 42 undergraduate participants completed a QR code scavenger hunt using the augmented reality mobile app, ARIS. Following the task, participants reported what they found for each scavenger hunt clue, their responses to failures in digital technology, and technology acceptance attitudes. Several factorial ANOVAs revealed a main effect for expectation on adaptive items of the RFDT scale and a main effect for malfunction on performance level. This suggests a potential contradiction between attitudes and behaviors when considering a common scenario involving technology.

In this paper, we present a novel solution to detect forgery and fabrication in passports and visas using cryptography and QR codes. The solution requires that the passport and visa issuing authorities obtain a cryptographic key pair and publish their public key on their website. Further they are required to encrypt the passport or visa information with their private key, encode the ciphertext in a QR code and print it on the passport or visa they issue to the applicant. The issuing authorities are also required to create a mobile or desktop QR code scanning app and place it for download on their website or Google Play Store and iPhone App Store. Any individual or immigration uthority that needs to check the passport or visa for forgery and fabrication can scan its QR code, which will decrypt the ciphertext encoded in the QR code using the public key stored in the app memory and displays the passport or visa information on the app screen. The details on the app screen can be compared with the actual details printed on the passport or visa. Any mismatch between the two is a clear indication of forgery or fabrication. Discussed the need for a universal desktop and mobile app that can be used by immigration authorities and consulates all over the world to enable fast checking of passports and visas at ports of entry for forgery and fabrication

BACKGROUND Automatic processes, such as attentional biases or interpretative biases, have been purported to be responsible for several psychiatric disorders. Recent reviews have highlighted that cognitive biases may be modifiable. Advances in eHealth and mHealth have been harnessed for the delivery of cognitive bias modification. While several studies have evaluated mHealth-based bias modification intervention, no review, to our knowledge, has synthesized the evidence for it. In addition, no review has looked at commercial apps and their functionalities and methods of bias modification. A review is essential in determining whether scientifically validated apps are available commercially and the proportion of commercial apps that have been evaluated scientifically. OBJECTIVE The objective of this review was primarily to determine the proportion of attention or cognitive bias modification apps that have been evaluated scientifically and secondarily to determine whether the scientifically evaluated apps were commercially available. We also sought to identify commercially available bias modification apps and determine the functionalities of these apps, the methods used for attention or cognitive bias modification, and whether these apps had been evaluated scientifically. METHODS To identify apps in the published literature, we searched PubMed, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, and Scopus for studies published from 2000 to April 17, 2018. The search terms used were “attention bias” OR “cognitive bias” AND “smartphone” OR “smartphone application” OR “smartphone app” OR “mobile phones” OR “mobile application” OR mobile app” OR “personal digital assistant.” To identify commercial apps, we conducted a manual cross-sectional search between September 15 and 25, 2017 in the Apple iTunes and Google Play app stores. The search terms used to identify the apps were “attention bias” and “cognitive bias.” We also conducted a manual search on the apps with published evaluations. RESULTS The effectiveness of bias modification was reported in 7 of 8 trials that we identified in the published literature. Only 1 of the 8 previously evaluated apps was commercially available. The 17 commercial apps we identified tended to use either an attention visual search or gamified task. Only 1 commercial app had been evaluated in the published literature. CONCLUSIONS This is perhaps the first review to synthesize the evidence for published mHealth attention bias apps. Our review demonstrated that evidence for mHealth attention bias apps is inconclusive, and quite a few commercial apps have not been validated scientifically.

In the current practices, farmers typically rely on the traditional method paper-based for farming data records, which leads to human error. However, the paper-based system can be improved by the mobile app technology to ease the farmers acquiring farm data as all of the farm information will be stored in digital form. This study aimed to develop a smartphone agricultural management app known as Padi2U and implement User Acceptance Test (UAT) for end-users. Padi2U was developed using Master App Builder software and integration with the multispectral imagery. Padi2U provides recommendations based on the Department of Agriculture’s (DOA), such as rice check, pest and disease control, and weed management. Through the Padi2U, farmers can access the field data to understand the crop health status online using the Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) map derived from the multispectral images. The NDVI is correlated to the Soil Plant Analysis Development (SPAD) value, corresponding to R² = 0.4012. UAT results showed a 100 percent satisfaction score with suggestions were given to enhance the Padi2U performance. It shows that Padi2U can be improved to help farmers in the field monitoring virtually by integrating multispectral imagery and information from the field.

Nowadays many colleges use galaxy network technology as well as computer and Internet technology, give full play to various technical means of information network and make good use of various kinds of various education, scientific research and information resources, develop all kinds of application system and management system, realize network interaction management, and thus fully promote the development of higher education informatization. An intelligent classroom attendance checking system is introduced in this paper. As an important part of campus management system, this system can intelligently complete examining students’ attendance. In addition, this system can automatically collect data information in real time, automatically analyze and process the collected data, report these data using visual interface, and thus intelligently implement SMS notification at the same time. The traditional way is to assess, record and manage the attendance of students by roll call or magnetic card, which not only consumes the time, but also interferes with each other; while RFID student attendance application system is applied to manage the attendance of students using RFID technology, which not only completes the attendance checking conveniently and quickly, but also saves resources.

Work instructions laboratory equipment is one of the documents that must be available in the laboratory. This document provides information on the operation steps of the device correctly. A laboratory manager usually prints the document on A4 size paper and installs it on a part of the tool to facilitate access to the document. The treatment makes the work instruction document break down quickly and is not suitable to be applied to small sized tools. Therefore, it is necessary to manage the work instruction document for easy access, efficiency in the use of documents, and to improve the security of document storage. In this case, the QR Code can be used as a solution to the problem. QR Code is able to store documents and URL links in a small barcode image so that it can be use more efficient. Making a QR Code is preceded by storing documents at https://drive.google.com. The URL link at https://drive.google.com is entered into the QR-Code Studio 1.0 application and converted into a barcode. Barcodes are then printed and installed on each laboratory instrument. Scanning QR Code using a smartphone application in the form of a QR-Code Scanner. The results of the barcode scanned are the form of scripts for laboratory work instructions

Student attendance is one of the factors that need to be controlled by the School to maintain Indonesian resources. Therefore a school needs a system that can be used, for handles the students attendance data and distributes it to the parents. This necessity can be facilitated by building an online attendance system for the students. The online attendance system uses QR Code and Broadcast Short Message Service (SMS). The online attendance system used Waterfall methodology phases  as the system development  phases. Afterward  the system performance is evaluated using the black-box testing. The results test using black-box testing show that the system can accomplish the purpose of this research to meet the need of the School in collecting the student attendance data and distributing the information of the students attendance data to the parents. This system uses QR Code and the results of collecting the student attendance data are sent by the system through Broadcast SMS to parents.
