This chapter raises awareness of the persistent need in the majority of group participants to avoid publicly exposing in their conversations the vulnerability generated by their profound human need for each other’s acceptance and approval. A willingness to risk this exposure is required for successfully creating the open interpersonal field critical to the effectiveness of Scharmer’s Theory U methodology. Scharmer recognizes this resistance in his description of the “Voices of Judgment, Cynicism, and Fear,” and in participants’ avoidance of exposing their vulnerability to each other. However, he does not offer an adequate methodological remedy. In this chapter, the group participants’ egos are identified as the source of all forms of avoidance of the interpersonal risks required if conversations are to be open, creative, and transformative. A collective method is presented which a group can use to diminish the negative impact of their egos on their conversations, increase interpersonal safety, and strengthen the group’s capacity to sustain “presencing conversations.” This method, called “Presencing Our Absencing” follows the format of Scharmer’s U model for group conversations.

The article states that physical activity has a positive effect on both mental and physical health and is an important, fundamental factor in the formation, maintenance and strengthening. The importance of optimizing the motor activity of students with the use of sports games in the educational process is determined. The necessity of increasing motivation for physical education classes with the help of sports games is substantiated. It is established that motor activity affects a person's social function, in particular, the adaptation to changes in their role in society in old age, provides an opportunity to play a more active role in society. It was found that volleyball and basketball are the most popular sports among modern youth. Motor activity is important in human life, because in the process of evolution it was formed as a biological human need along with the needs for food, water, self-preservation, and so on. It is known that during exercise in the human body certain mechanisms are triggered, as a result of which the functions of not only the muscular system, but also the respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous and digestive systems are strengthened. Despite the fact that today, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle is actively developing, the influence of regular exercise, various sports and moving games is known, the question of increasing physical activity among student youth still remains. As every year there is a tendency to reduce the level of physical fitness, deteriorating health, a phenomenon such is becoming more widespread, which also has a negative impact on the work of students.

Besides still scattered in several laws and regulations, the existing criminalization policy is still not able to answer the main issue, namely the negative impact of consuming alcoholic beverages. In this case, the national development objectives based on Pancasila have not been properly achieved. This conceptual study focuses on 2 (two) key issues. First, the scattered criminalization policies on consuming alcohol in Indonesia. At the law’s level, the Criminal Code, the criminalization policies of legal subjects consuming alcoholic beverages is required to impair the legal or other public interest, as provided in Article 300, Article 492 paragraph (1) and Article 536. At another level, namely the regional regulations, both at the provincial and district/city levels, some have explicitly contained the criminalization policy of consuming alcoholic beverages without considering whether the act is harming others or not. Second, the policy of criminalization to consume alcoholic beverages in Indonesia in the future. Based on philosophical, juridical, and sociological considerations, it is necessary to reform law related to criminalization policy of consuming alcoholic beverages in Indonesia. In the future, with the renewal of the criminalization policy of consuming alcoholic beverages in Indonesia, the state has guaranteed a well-born and inner life, a place to live, and a good and healthy environment which is a human need that becomes a human right that must be respected and fulfilled by the state or government in the context of protecting the lives of all people.

Main Street in Sarasota, Florida. A high-tech medical arts building rises from the east end, the county's historic three-story courthouse is two blocks to the west and sandwiched in between is the First Church of Christ, Scientist. A verse inscribed on the wall behind the pulpit of the church reads: “Divine Love Always Has Met and Always Will Meet Every Human Need.” This is the church where William and Christine Hermanson worshipped. It is just a few steps away from the courthouse where they were convicted of child abuse and third-degree murder for failing to provide conventional medical care for their seven-year-old daughter. This Article is about the intersection of “divine love” and “the best interests of the child.” It is about a pluralistic society where the dominant culture reveres medical science, but where a religious minority shuns and perhaps fears that same medical science. It is also about the struggle among different religious interests to define the legal rights of the citizenry.

The cellular mitochondrial population undergoes repeated cycles of fission and fusion to maintain its integrity, as well as overall cellular homeostasis. While equilibrium usually exists between the fission–fusion dynamics, their rates are influenced by organellar and cellular metabolic and pathogenic conditions. Under conditions of cellular stress, there is a disruption of this fission and fusion balance and mitochondria undergo either increased fusion, forming a hyperfused meshwork or excessive fission to counteract stress and remove damaged mitochondria via mitophagy. While some previous reports suggest that hyperfusion is initiated to ameliorate cellular stress, recent studies show its negative impact on cellular health in disease conditions. The exact mechanism of mitochondrial hyperfusion and its role in maintaining cellular health and homeostasis, however, remain unclear. In this review, we aim to highlight the different aspects of mitochondrial hyperfusion in either promoting or mitigating stress and also its role in immunity and diseases.

Based on Eccles’ (1987) model of academic achievement-related decisions, we tested whether women, who are engaged in mathematical fields at university, have internalized, to some extent, the stereotype about women’s inferiority in math. The results indicate that men and women do not assess their ability self-concept, subjective value of math, or performance expectancies differently. However, women’s degree of stereotype endorsement has a negative impact on their ability self-concept and their performance expectancies, but does not affect their value of the math domain. Moreover, members of both genders envisage stereotypical careers after university graduation.
