Information plays a vital role in bioinformatics to achieve the existing bioinformatics information technologies and to identify the needs of bioinformatics researchers. The most revolutionary development for bioinformatics resources is access to the internet because internet is pervasive in all bioinformatics work. Users required various sources of information for conducting bioinformatics research. The success of the information service is more likely to be achieved by adjusting the services to meet the specific needs of an individual.

As people continue to go online for their health information needs we revisit the issue of trust in relation to e-health. This chapter begins by briefly presenting an overview of e-health and describing current ways in which people are using the Internet for health advice and information. Models of trust are revisited and we then explore two emerging areas within the e-health field: peer resources and mobile health applications. Finally, we revisit and update our guidelines and point to further sources of information in this field.

Nowadays various kinds of information and communication technologies are playing a vital role in every sector of society and economy, including in education. Most education institutions use these innovative technologies in assisting the management and provision of information, supporting instruction as well as facilitating learners in their access to academic sources and other exchanges of knowledge and communication.  The purposes of this research are to study the related factors and then to provide guidelines on using M-learning for instructional purposes more effectively than with traditional classroom instruction. Our sample includes 400 students and the key research tool is questionnaire. The research findings point out that the factors affecting the acceptance of M-learning include the perceived ease of use of the application, attractiveness of the lessons contents, and the quality of the Internet connection. It can be concluded that the most important factors motivating this kind of technology acceptance for instructional purposes are the development of attractive contents within the application, and the quality of the applied information technologies, including the Internet system. Together they attract learners to use this application and thus increase their learning achievements.

9073 Background: Patients need information to maximize access to appropriate care, make informed decisions about treatment and communicate with their physicians and other healthcare providers. This study examined information needs related to cancer care and preferred information sources across ethnicities. Methods: A cross-sectional telephone survey was conducted with a random sample of 107 African-American and Caucasian female cancer patients from a university-affiliated cancer clinic. Descriptive analyses characterize patient demographics and information preferences. Multiple logistic regression tested variations in preferences by ethnicity. Results: There were significant differences in what African-American and Caucasian cancer patients considered their primary sources of information about their cancer and treatment. More African-Americans (36%) than Caucasians (9%) said they go to healthcare providers other than their physicians (e.g., nurses, nursing assistants, p=0.002) and use the library (14% vs. 7%) for information about their disease and treatment (p=0.002). Caucasian patients more often said they go to physicians (61% vs. 40%, p<0.01) or the internet (23% vs. 10%, p=0.04) for their information. More African-Americans (84%) than Caucasians (59%) rated information about counseling for emotional support as extremely important (p<0.01) and rated information about issues such as transportation and legal advice as extremely important (75% vs. 55%, p=0.05). There were no differences between ethnicities in desire for information about disease, treatment, side effects, and chances of getting better. Conclusions: All patients desired accurate and comprehensive information about their disease, prognosis and treatment. Significant differences were found between African-Americans and Caucasians in type and means of information. African-American patients were more likely to obtain information from providers other than physicians, and Caucasians were more likely to use the internet. These findings have implications for training professionals and developing programs to provide information to patients about their cancer treatment. No significant financial relationships to disclose.

In the information society the status of information is changing: this main value of global civilization becomes an important resource of socio- economic, technological and cultural development. The rapid development of virtual technologies and the growing number of Internet users in Ukraine and in the world causes the new challenges to communication of each organization. The book publishers are also obliged to respond to these processes. However, the works devoted directly to publishers’ communication in the modern media space are still lacking in Ukraine. The objective of the article is to clarify peculiarities and conditions of the activities of Ukrainian book publishers in today’s media space which is an important issue today. It is analyzed the literature and sources on this issue and it is ascertained the theoretical and practical possibilities to take into account the trends in the world of modern media in the PR-activity of book publishers. Also the prospects for further scientific study and practical use of PR-communications in the activity of publishers are determined. The analysis of current changes in the modern information space allows us to trace the general tendencies: the new subject and object areas are formed; the number of subjects is expanded; the new formats of interaction within the system of communications of the organization and in society as a whole are created. That means that publishing house’s PR-communications are complicated by the emergence of new elements, such as active audience, social networks as communication channels, promotions on the Internet and others. PR communication in the Internet space is the most effective and inexpensive tool for interaction of publishers with active audiences. Thus, the activation of PR communication in the modern media space is associated with the emergence of the latest information technologies, online media as well as development of Internet. The use of online channels of Internet for communication with the target audience of publishing organizations has certain advantages over traditional media. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the information saturation of media space, which complicates the way of PR-messages of book publishers to the reader.
