Water has become an inadequate resource as a result of population and economic growth, climate change, pollution and other challenges.  This is impacting on social, economic and environmental wellbeing.  Education about water issues at all levels is pertinent to equip people with knowledge, skills and values of its management and sustainable utilization.  Young children have a tendency of wasting water because of lack of knowledge of its management and sustainable utilization.  The study aimed at establishing how knowledge, skills and attitudes of the management and sustainable utilization of water resources were being transmitted to school pupils in the infant grades in primary school.  Furthermore the study wanted to find out the extent to which the curriculum content addressed the management and sustainable utilization of water resources.  The study was conducted in the infants section of primary schools in the City of Gweru.  It was qualitative in nature and it employed document analysis, in-depth interviews and questerviews to gather data.  The sample of seven teachers in the infant section was purposively selected as these were the people with the requisite information. The study established that the infant syllabi has inadequate content for the management and sustainable utilization of water resources.  The education system in Zimbabwe has not put in place mechanisms and strategies to pass on information to the young learners.  Teachers have not been capacitated to deal with this aspect of the curriculum.  The methods used in schools to inculcate the content are suitable for the age levels.  The study concluded that the content and teaching of management and sustainable utilization were not adequate.  The materials to complement the teaching were relevant.  The study recommends the assessment methods need to be practical so as to establish the attitudes and skills acquired and that adequate content has to be injected into the curriculum.

Based on the concept of a livable and global age-friendly city, pavements are a public facility that the city should provide to the people. Appropriate pavements will be beneficial for the people, particularly for good quality of life for the elderly to move around in the city. This study explored the behaviour of the elderly in the use of pavements and the problems confronted. The study also evaluated the value of the pavement walking area as it reflected the benefits of pavements to the elderly by applying the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). During March-May 2017, data were collected using interviews with 601 elderly living in Bangkok. The study indicated that the main problem for senior citizens regarding their use of pavements was from being disturbed by motorbikes riding on the pavements. The average value of pavement for the elderly was about THB 160 (USD 5.30) per person per year. Thus, the benefits of pavements to the elderly in Bangkok was approximately THB 158 million (USD 5.2 million) per year. Thus, policy makers should make proper budget allocations for elderly-friendly pavement management and seriously address the problems confronting the elderly in using pavements, to maximize the usefulness of pavements not only for the elderly but also for the public and to support a sustainable urban development.

The chapter sets out the key terms and overall approach taken by Machiavelli to the problem of the cause of the corruption of a city and its inability to transform its orders. Only a republic can carry out this operation successfully because only a republic has as its goal the regeneration of the free and civil way of life, while the principality, even the civil principality, inevitably degenerates into tyranny. The possibility of re-establishing a free state in a corrupt city, therefore, only exists if it is not already a very corrupt city. If the city were in such a situation, the people would not be able to restore freedom since the principality leads to the emergence of the kingly state and from there to tyranny. Only after having brought virtue back to the city could its citizens create a well-ordered republic by equipping it with the necessary orders.

The high rate of inflation has the potential to increase poverty because it can reduce people's purchasing power, where if inflation rises significantly it can shift the people who are categorized as not poor, become vulnerable to poverty, almost poor and even poor. The aims of this study are to analyze the development of macroeconomic indicators, namely inflation and economic growth that are associated with poverty levels in the city of Bandung. The methodology used in this study is descriptive analysis and the ARMA (autoregressive moving average) model. The results showed that the high inflation in the city of Bandung compared to national and West Java inflation carries its own burden for the economy of the community, where purchasing power will decrease when inflation rises significantly and will have an impact on people's welfare. Inflation in the city of Bandung is often due to the price of food commodities (volatile food inflation). In addition, the high economic growth in the city of Bandung is not directly proportional to the decline in poverty levels. This shows that the quality of economic growth in the city of Bandung has problems that need attention. Therefore, local government in their efforts to encourage economic growth must prioritize poverty reduction and inequality.
