One of the latest developments in audience research deals with the analysis of the views and opinions that individuals express in the social media web, where audiences share videos, comments, and grassroots productions about media contents. The wealth of information available on the web, the power of world of mouth, the relevance of phenomena such as blogs, microblogs, and social network sites, combined with the urgent need to monitor, control, and predict audience behavior has led empirical research – both academic and market-driven – to exhibit a renewed interest in quantitative research, with the aim of transforming the depth of content and the interpretative frames produced by audiences in standardized search categories. The aim of this chapter is, therefore, to reflect on sentiment analysis and its applications to the social web, reflecting on the opportunity to apply the instrument to media audiences, considering the context of the research, the critical issues relating to this approach, and the perspectives which relate to quantitative study.

AbstractBased on the Social Media Political Participation Model (SMPPM), this study investigates the relationship between four key motivations behind the use of Social Network Sites (SNS) and political engagement among adolescents. We collected our data in a paper-pencil survey with 15- to 20-year-old adolescents (N=294), a highly underexplored group, which is most active on social media. We theorize that adolescents’ user motivations are related to political engagement via two modes of exposure: The intentional mode, which is related to active information seeking, and the incidental mode, in which adolescents run into politics only by accident. We found that political information and self-expression motivations were positively related to political engagement via the intentional mode. By contrast, entertainment motivations were negatively related to offline, but not to online engagement via the incidental mode.

From its birth to the nowadays lifestyle, web has strongly changed. Although once it was a “place’’ to find information, now it represents that virtual condition, in which it can be possible to share and collect information, thoughts, desires and doing shopping and so on and so forth.

Today, the company does not only make just a commercial communication. Instead, there exist many types of interaction: the internal communication, for instance. Enterprise 2.0 is that kind of business that uses the instruments of the web 2.0 both for external and internal communication. It means to use all the digital marketing tools to manage the entire organization, such that we have to think in a participatory management way. Indeed, we have to focus ourselves even more on a participatory organization, where the development of new projects derives from the ones who work into the company. The Social media that can be involved in this field are the same that are used for a commercial communication: social network, blogs, Wikipedia, podcasts, rss feed and so on and so forth.

Even though there are very few Italian companies that apply the tools of web 2.0 to manage the entire organization, the paradigm of the enterprise 2.0 is slowly taking off.

The purpose of this work paper is to identify how the company can efficiently adopt the digital marketing instruments, utilizing the participatory management: enterprise 2.0. The adoption of these participatory tools is fundamental, because only through their adoption, it can be possible to reach a vast audience and to satisfy the digital consumer needs, who is no more passive, but he is even more active and critic about the choices he is going to make.

Popularity of the social media and the amount of importance given by an individual to social media has significantly increased in last few years. As more and more people become part of the social networks like Twitter, Facebook, information which flows through the social network, can potentially give us good understanding about what is happening around in our locality, state, nation or even in the world. The conceptual motive behind the project is to develop a system which analyses about a topic searched on Twitter. It is designed to assist Information Analysts in understanding and exploring complex events as they unfold in the world. The system tracks changes in emotions over events, signalling possible flashpoints or abatement. For each trending topic, the system also shows a sentiment graph showing how positive and negative sentiments are trending as the topic is getting trended.

To see social networks in the rejection of the PLTU Batang development policy, the research used the NodeXL application to find out the patterns of social communication networks in #TolakPLTUBatang. From the results, it can be seen that in the dissemination of social networking information, the @praditya_wibby account is the most central account in the social network and has a strong influence on the social network. The @praditya_wibby account has a role in moving the community through Twitter to make a critical social movement. This means that in the current digital era, democracy enters a new form through the movement of public opinion delivery through social media. Besides, by encouraging the role of online news, the distribution of information becomes faster to form new perceptions of an issue. This is evident from the correlation network where the @praditya_wibby account has correlations with several compass online media accounts, tirto.id, okezonenews, vice, antaranews, BBCIndonesia, and CNN Indonesia.

This case of Covid-19 can be a place of dissemination of disinformation that can be utilized by some parties. The dissemination of information in this day and age has turned to the internet, namely social media, Twitter is one of the social media that is often used by Indonesians and the data can be analyzed. This study uses the social network analysis method, conducted to be able to find nodes that affect the ongoing interaction in the interaction network of information dissemination related to Covid-19 in Indonesia and see if the node is directly proportional to the value of its popularity. As well as to know in identifying the source of Covid-19 information, whether dominated by competent Twitter accounts in their fields. The data examined 19,939 nodes and 12,304 edges were taken from data provided by the web academic.droneemprit.id on the project "Analisis Opini Persebaran Virus Corona di Media Sosial", using the period of December 2019 to December 2020 on social media Twitter. The results showed that the @do_ra_dong account is an influential actor with the highest degree centrality of 860 and the @detikcom account is the actor with the highest popularity value of follower rank of 0.994741605. Thus actors who have a high degree of centrality value do not necessarily have a high follower rank value anyway. The study ignores if there are buzzer accounts on Twitter.

“Social network sites” first began to be used as new tools of political communication during the 2008 Presidential Election in the United States, and their importance became even more apparent during the Arab Spring. In the course of this, the social network sites became a new and widely discussed channel of communication. In addition to its ability to bring together people from different parts of the world by removing any time and space barriers, creates a virtual network that allows individuals with shared social values to take action in an organized manner. Furthermore, this novel, versatile and multi-faceted tool of political communication has also provided a new mean for observing various aspects of social reactions to political events. Instead of voters expressing their political views through their votes from one election to the other, we nowadays have voters who actively take part in political processes by instantly demonstrating their reactions and by directly communicating their criticisms online.
