Assessing Strategies of the International Council on Archives

The research aims to assess strategies and planning of the International Council on Archives/Section on University and Research Institution Archives (ICA/SUV) members on the reopening of their archive's repositories during COVID-19. A qualitative method was used to collect data from ICA/SUV members. The research found that most of the respondents had not yet developed an effective strategy and plan on reopening of archives, limited provision of access to information. There were resources allocated for the archives program. COVID-19 provides opportunities of archives institutions to raise awareness on archive programs.

This study aims to describe the information literacy of Buddhist Education teachers in Pati Regency covering aspects of information needs, access to information, and utilization of information in teaching. This study uses a qualitative method. The data collection technique of this study uses interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis using the Milles Hubberman model includes the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study include: (1)The information needs of Buddhist Education teachers can be classified into information needs to improve teacher competence and information needs for career advancement; (2) access to information sourced from various locations, the teachers have also been able to analyze, organize, and save information well; (3) the teacher utilizes the information literacy results in teaching and learning activities in the school despite experiencing obstacles such as the lack of infrastructure to support learning.

This research focuses on the strategy of communication which was used by the speakers of two different dialects between meriaq-meriku vs meno-mene in Sasak language, especially amongst sellers-buyers in markets domain in central Lombok West Nusa Tenggara. The data were recorded at four markets where the speakers of two different dialects meet. This current result reveals the effective strategy in communication by accommodating each other (sellers-buyers). Further, it elucidates the accommodation pattern strategy in two different dialects which are commonly used by the sellers-buyers in doing transactions. The current researchers composed the data through the interview, direct observation, and recording or note-taking. The method used to reveal the phenomenon is a qualitative method and interpreted the data to meet the qualified result of research. Therefore, the result shows that applying inter-dialectal accommodation is effective. AbstrakPenelitian ini berfokus pada strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh penutur dua dialek yang berbeda antara meriaq-meriku vs meno-mene dalam bahasa Sasak, khususnya antara penjual-pembeli di ranah pasar di Lombok Tengah Nusa Tenggara Barat. Data tersebut direkam di empat pasar tempat bertemunya penutur dari dua dialek yang berbeda. Hasil saat ini mengungkapkan strategi yang efektif dalam komunikasi dengan saling mengakomodasi (penjual-pembeli). Selanjutnya diuraikan strategi pola akomodasi dalam dua dialek yang berbeda yang biasa digunakan oleh penjual-pembeli dalam melakukan transaksi. Peneliti saat ini menyusun data melalui wawancara, observasi langsung, dan pencatatan atau pencatatan. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengungkap fenomena tersebut adalah metode kualitatif dan menginterpretasikan data untuk memenuhi hasil penelitian yang memenuhi syarat. Oleh karena itu, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan akomodasi antar dialek efektif.

The objectives of this study are to investigate the implementation of the 5+1 Newspaper Organizer as a strategy in developing the students’ reading skills and to find out the students’ and teacher’s responses when the 5+1 newspaper organizer strategy is implemented at the teaching and learning activities. The qualitative method is employed in this study in which the data are collected from observation, interview, and documentation at a junior high school in South Kalimantan province, Indonesia. The findings report that the use of 5+1 newspaper organizer contributed positively to students’ reading skill because it helped them find main ideas, the meaning of words, and the explicit and implicit information of the text easily. They worked collaboratively by sharing ideas and learning texts together. They were also engaged with the strategy and felt happy, enthusiastic, and active at the reading class because the teacher gave the students with more opportunity to work in a group without feeling shy or doubt to learn it. Therefore, the 5+1 Newspaper Organizer is an effective strategy for developing students’ reading ability.

 The use of communication platforms is beneficial for companies, one of which is the use of mobile-based applications, namely the WhatsApp Business application, to meet market demands that require easy access to information directly and quickly. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in sales at PT Saung Angklung Ujdo after using WhatsApp Business in the implementation of the sales process. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews with the Digital Strategy Manager, and literature study of books, journals, and documents related to research discussions. The results show that there is a match between theory and practice in the sales process with the use of the WhatsApp Business application and an increase in sales after the use of the WhatsApp Business application by PT Saung Angklung Udjo.  Penggunaan platform komunikasi sangat membantu perusahaan salah satunya adalah penggunaan aplikasi berbasis mobile yaitu aplikasi WhatsApp Business untuk memenuhi tuntutan pasar yang membutuhkan kemudahan akses informasi secara langsung dan cepat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan penjualan pada PT Saung Angklung Ujdo setelah menggunakan WhatsApp Business dalam pelaksanaan proses penjualannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara dengan Manajer Strategi Digital, dan studi pustaka terhadap buku, jurnal, dan dokumen yang berkaitan dengan pembahasan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kesesuaian antara teori dan praktek dalam proses penjualan dengan penggunaan aplikasi WhatsApp Business dan peningkatan penjualan setelah penggunaan aplikasi WhatsApp Business yang dilakukan oleh PT Saung Angklung Udjo.

This chapter presents a study conceptualized to assess the accessibility of land claims records preserved at the Kruger National Park (KNP) of South Africa. The study used a qualitative method through document analysis and interviews. The sample of the study comprised land claimants and archivists based at the KNP archives. The key finding revealed land claimants use their democratic rights through the Promotion of Access to Information Act of 2000 to request land claim records from KNP archives. The findings aid tools were essential to assess records preserved in the archives even though some of the records were not found in the park.

Having strong foundation in English literacy nowadays is believed to be a very crucial requirement for the children to survive and success both in educational and social lives. One of the most effective strategies for enhancing children’s early reading and literacy skill is through Jolly Phonics. Despite the popularity and its effectiveness, there is still factor to the absence of the strategy, namely lack of teacher knowledge. This paper is intended to share the techniques of how to implement Jolly Phonics strategy for teaching and developing children’s English literacy. This study was conducted in one of innovative bilingual schools in Denpasar, Bali. The study employed descriptive qualitative method as a research design and used observation, documentation and interview to collect the data from the teacher. The findings showed that the teacher had successfully implement the 5 skills in Jolly Phonics, namely (1) learning the letter sounds, (2) learning letter formation, (3) blending-for reading, (4) identifying sounds in words-for writing and (5) tricky words, through variety of enjoyable techniques involving children’s sight, sound and kinesthetic means. Thus, implementing Jolly Phonics through techniques explained will improve children’s overall English literacy skill.

Indonesia is one of the biggest coffee producers in the world. However, farmers’ incomes are still relatively small due to low productivity, poor quality, and low price, as well as limited access to information, technology, and market. This study aims to describe the effect of inclusive business on coffee development in Bali, based on the Flores experience. The results of the study pointed out that the experience of inclusive business on coffee development in Nusa Tenggara Timur Province might also be implemented in Bali. The business model established should include the coffee farmers/farmers’ cooperative, coffee buyer/exporter, bank, government, research institution, and independent actors. Among the market actors, they should have mutualism partnership in order to obtain economic incentives. This could ensure the sustainability of inclusive business on coffee development.

The fact that students have lack of reading comprehension as the result of ineffective implementation in course syllabus. The study aims at implementing authentic assessment in extensive reading. The objective of activities in authentic assessment is to enhance the students’ pragmatic acquisition in understanding political news text. Qualitative method design is used by conducting classroom action research. The finding indicates that the pedagogy implementation provides various tasks in improving the students’ pragmatic acquisition. The result reveals that reading strategy can be reinforced through listening, writing, and speaking to have an understanding in a context. Forty-five students in extensive reading class answer open-ended questionnaire and the result shows that pragmatic acquisition is an effective strategy to comprehend the reading text. The integration of authentic assessment and the acquisition of semantic meaning are suggested to be investigated in future research.
