The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged societies all around the world since the beginning of 2020. A state of alert was declared in Spain from March to June. The country came to a complete standstill, until restrictions gradually began to be eased. This study examines how the first wave of the pandemic was reflected by analysing 1,007 cartoons published in various Spanish newspapers between January and June. The results show that criticism of the political management of the public health crisis was the most extensively featured issue. Protection measures against the coronavirus, such as lockdown, hand hygiene, and social distancing were also important issues. Although the cartoonists at first minimised the risk, as soon as the state of alert was declared, the often contradictory measures and strained relations of the government and the opposition parties were the main focus of attention for cartoonists. The present analysis also shows that despite being the main victims of COVID-19, neither the elderly nor healthcare professionals are the most commonly depicted actors in the sample.

Since the outburst of Covid-19 in China, the world economy is passing in a turmoil situation. Undeniably the economy of Bangladesh is also grappled by the severe public health crisis of the Covid-19. As the public health emergency is heavily interconnected with economic affairs, it has impacted each of the pillars of the economy of Bangladesh. The main purpose of this paper is to make evaluations of the potential impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy of Bangladesh.  This study is based on an empirical review of the recent study works, reports, working papers of home, and abroad regarding economic crisis. The review findings of the paper revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic have significant impacts on the different indicators of the economy of Bangladesh especially, Readymade Garments Sector, Foreign Remittance, Bank and Financial Institutions, Food and Agricultures, Local Trade, Foreign Trade (Export and Import), GDP (Gross Domestic Product), SDGs (Sustainable Development Goal), Government Revenue and Employment etc. This study suggested that as Covid-19 still surfacing all over the world so some steps should be ensured by the government agencies of Bangladesh to mitigate possible threats for the economy.

As governments and citizens around the world have struggled with the novel coronavirus, the information space has turned into a battleground. Authoritarian countries, including Russia, China and Iran, have spread disinformation on the causes of and responses to the pandemic. The over-abundance of information, also referred to as an ‘infodemic’, including manipulated information, has been both a cause and a result of the exacerbation of the public health crisis. It is further undermining trust in democratic institutions, the independent press, and facts and data, and exacerbating the rising tensions driven by economic, political and societal challenges. This article discusses the challenges democracies have faced and the measures they have adopted to counter information manipulation that impedes public health efforts. It draws seven lessons learned from the information war and offers a set of recommendations on tackling future infodemics related to public health.

This paper investigates the short term return behavior of six selected stock market around the world during the COVID-19 Pandemic. USA, Indonesia, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore are selected based on the size of their stock market and the countries have taken a considerable amount of decision and policy to mitigate the risk of before, ongoing, and aftermath COVID-19 Pandemic. This study relies on two major time series investigation techniques, namely Econometric Modeling of returns; The Autoregressive model, Assumption of Linearity, Volatility Modeling, namely the GARCH and WBAVR Test. The results suggest that the stock return behavior in six selected countries occurs in different forms. Our findings suggest that the policymakers must understand how to shift their policy to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 in the financial sector, since we observe a strong correlation between the public health crisis and stock market performances.

To deal with the public health crisis caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, we developed an off campus triage system at entry points to the outpatient, emergency, and inpatient departments. To enhance this off campus triage system, we implemented intensive staff training and made detailed triage plans with a timely referral. Of the 85,414 patients/visitors who visited The Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University, one of the government-designated hospitals to triage-suspected COVID-19 patients between January 22 and March 10, 2020, 359 patients were triaged to the COVID-19 fever clinic and 1,218 were triaged to the general fever clinic; 187 were suspected of COVID-19 infection and quarantined; and four cases of COVID-19 were confirmed and referred. During the outbreak, no inhospital infection and no complaint from patients and their family members occurred, and up to September 10, 2020, no new cases of COVID-19 in this hospital or its catchment area were detected. The off campus triage system is an effective approach to improve the detection of COVID-19 infection and reduce inhospital cross infection.

Abstract Over 3 million people in the United Staes aged 65 years and older are anemic. This condition is associated with significant functional impairment and, perhaps, increased mortality. In March 2004, the American Society of Hematology (in conjunction with the National Institute of Aging) convened a “blue ribbon” panel of twenty physicians who are experts on various aspects of this topic. This paper highlights important consensus concepts resulting from that meeting. In particular, four areas of thought are shared. First, the epidemiology of anemia in the elderly is reviewed, including its definition, its expression in different racial groups, and its wide-ranging manifestations. Second, the pathophysiology of anemia in the elderly is reviewed as pertains to three general etiological categories (nutritional, chronic diseases, and so-called “unexplained” anemias). Particular emphasis is given to pathophysiologic mechanisms of anemia that are potentially unique to this age group. Third, a practical approach to the diagnosis and management of anemia for this patient population for the practicing hematologist is provided. Finally, the public health implications of anemia in the elderly for key stakeholder constituencies will be discussed in the oral presentation.

ResumoA Pandemia do novo coronavírus fez o Mundo parar. O alto grau de contágio da doença colocou a população mundial em quarentena, impedindo a livre circulação de pessoas para lazer, compras e até trabalho. No Brasil, as medidas para evitar o contágio seguiram as orientações da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) e a Administração Pública precisou encontrar maneiras para poder continuar a produzir e oferecer os serviços à população levando em consideração a crise na Saúde Mundial. Em suas demandas, o Governo redigiu a Instrução Normativa nº 44, de 10 de junho de 2020, que modifica o documento anterior sobre teletrabalho no funcionalismo público, a Instrução Normativa nº 1 de agosto de 2018. Este artigo tem como objetivo comparar as duas Instruções Normativas e a CLT, no que se refere à adoção da modalidade de trabalho remoto no serviço público. Para essa análise se utiliza do método comparativo com as bibliografias produzidas no Brasil por pesquisadores da área de Administração Pública e a consulta das leis referentes à regulamentação do teletrabalho no funcionalismo público. O resultado dessas análises encontrará mudanças e melhorias para o servidor em serviço remoto e a manutenção da eficiência dos serviços públicos diante do problema mundial atual. Ao final do trabalho, com grande parte das repartições informatizadas e experiências positivas em diversas instituições do Governo, a Instrução Normativa nº 44 de junho de 2020 mostrará que é possível um processo menos burocrático na implementação do teletrabalho na Administração Pública Federal. The high degree of the disease contagion put the world population in quarantine, preventing the free movement of people for leisure, shopping and even work. In Brazil, measures to avoid contagion followed the WHO guidelines (World Health Organization) and the Public Administration needed to find ways to continue to produce and offer services to the population taking into account the global health crisis. In its demands, the government drafted Normative Instruction No. 44, of June 10th, 2020 which modifies the previous document on teleworking in the public service, Normative Instruction No. 1 of August 2018. This article aims to compare the two Normative Instructions and CLT regarding the adoption of the remote work modality in the public service. For this analysis the comparative method will be used with the bibliographies produced in Brazil by researchers in the public administration area and the laws consultation regarding the telework regulation in the civil service. The result of these analyzes will find changes and improvements for the server in remote service and the maintenance of the public services efficiency before the current global problem. With a large part of the computerized offices and with positive experiences in various government institutions, the Normative Instruction No. 44 of June 2020 will show that a less bureaucratic process in the teleworking implementation in the Federal Public Administration is possible. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a communicable infection caused by the novel coronavirus resulting in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV). It was recognized to be a health crisis for the general population of international concern on 30th January 2020 and conceded as a pandemic on 11th March 2020. India is taking various measures to fight this invisible enemy by adopting different strategies and policies. To stop the COVID-19 from spreading, the Home Affairs Ministry and the health ministry, of India, has issued the nCoV 19 guidelines on travel. Screening for COVID-19 by asking questions about any symptoms, recent travel history, and exposure. India has been trying to get testing kits available. The government of India has enforced various laws like the social distancing, Janata curfew, strict lockdowns, screening door to door to control the spread of novel coronavirus. In this pandemic, innovative medical treatments are being explored, and a proper vaccine is being hunted to deal with the situation. Infection control measures are necessary to prevent the virus from further spreading and to help control the current situation. Thus, this review illustrates and explains the criteria provided by the government of India to the awareness of the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Land acquisition for public purposes, including for the construction of railroad infrastructure, is a matter that is proposed by all countries in the world. The Indonesian government or the Malaysian royal government needs land for railroad infrastructure development. To realize this, a regulation was made that became the legal umbrella for the government or royal government. The people must agree to regulations that require it. Land acquisition for public use in Malaysia can be completed quickly in Indonesia. The influencing factor is the different perceptions of the understanding of what are in the public interest, history and legal systems of the two countries as well as the people's reaction from the two countries
