The purpose of conventional counterbalance mechanism featuring a fixed counterbalance torque is to balance the nonuniformity of polished rod load. Therefore, it cannot satisfy the demand of polish rod load which changes with well-condition and then leads to increase of power cost for decreasing quality of balance. This paper presents a new dynamic adjusting mechanism of counterbalance in beam-pumping unit that can adjust the counterbalance torque automatically without stopping the unit according to the new balance parameters derived by analyzing the variation of well-condition and increase productivity at the same time. A data comparison based on the corresponding kinetic model of transmission mechanism is also discussed.

The paper presents the results of theoretical modeling of joined movement of pump rods and plunger pump and multiphase flow in a well for determination of dynamic loads on the polished rod of pumping unit. The specificity of the proposed model is the possibility of taking into account for complications in rod pump operating, such as leakage in valve steam, presence of gas and emulsion, incorrect fitting of plunger inside the cylinder pump. The satisfactory agreement of results of the model simulation with filed measurements are obtained.

Abstract Fluctuations in rates of gene expression can produce highly erratic time patterns of protein production in individual cells and wide diversity in instantaneous protein concentrations across cell populations. When two independently produced regulatory proteins acting at low cellular concentrations competitively control a switch point in a pathway, stochastic variations in their concentrations can produce probabilistic pathway selection, so that an initially homogeneous cell population partitions into distinct phenotypic subpopulations. Many pathogenic organisms, for example, use this mechanism to randomly switch surface features to evade host responses. This coupling between molecular-level fluctuations and macroscopic phenotype selection is analyzed using the phage λ lysis-lysogeny decision circuit as a model system. The fraction of infected cells selecting the lysogenic pathway at different phage:cell ratios, predicted using a molecular-level stochastic kinetic model of the genetic regulatory circuit, is consistent with experimental observations. The kinetic model of the decision circuit uses the stochastic formulation of chemical kinetics, stochastic mechanisms of gene expression, and a statistical-thermodynamic model of promoter regulation. Conventional deterministic kinetics cannot be used to predict statistics of regulatory systems that produce probabilistic outcomes. Rather, a stochastic kinetic analysis must be used to predict statistics of regulatory outcomes for such stochastically regulated systems.

Big Data, the Internet of Things, and robotic and augmented realities are just some of the technologies that belong to Industry 4.0. These technologies improve working conditions and increase productivity and the quality of industry production. However, they can also improve life and society as a whole. A new perspective is oriented towards social well-being and it is called Society 5.0. Industry 4.0 supports the transition to the new society, but other drivers are also needed. To guide the transition, it is necessary to identify the enabling factors that integrate Industry 4.0. A conceptual framework was developed in which these factors were identified through a literature review and the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) methodology. Furthermore, the way in which they relate was evaluated with the help of the interpretive structural modeling (ISM) methodology. The proposed framework fills a research gap, which has not yet consolidated a strategy that includes all aspects of Society 5.0. As a result, the main driver, in addition to technology, is international politics.

At a time of economic instability in the country, actions that minimize expenditures and increase productivity in civil construction aimed at the sustainable development of the means of production are increasingly being requested. In order to make a diagnosis of the layout, organization and practices in the construction sites of the Crajubar region, ten constructions were studied in the region. The sample selected included horizontal and vertical buildings, for commercial, residential and mixed use. The data were obtained from the diagnostic method, which consists of the application of a standardized checklist, which included three groups to be analyzed: temporary installations, handling and storage of materials. Along with this list, a photographic record of predetermined items was made for the visualization and identification of defects in the construction. From the information collected, the group notes and a global grade (the arithmetic mean of the group notes) were assigned and the works were distributed into four categories: great, good, regular and bad. The horizontal construction obtained the worse notes, between 4.01 and 6, while the vertical construction that presented policies of quality management stood out with the best notes, between 8,01 and 10. The type of construction was the factor that most influenced the quality of the construction sites evaluated in Crajubar cearense.

Specialty arabica coffee productivity could be improved by land extensification, optimizing the use of family labor, increase cost of organic and chemicals fertilizer, land use (intercropping and/or multistrata), increase in the price of parchment, increase in premium coffee prices, increase in liquidity of financial of household farmer, an increase in the practice of coffee pruning, and control of coffee berry borer (CBB). The application of good agriculture practices (GAPs) can increase the quality of the coffee produced in the Simalungun highlands. Increased productivity and quality is very prospective in the LED based on specialty coffee, mainly farmers' net income and local employment indicator. As the acceleration factors to increase productivity and quality of specialty arabica coffee is necessary: (1) re-mapping the areas of unique production, including the revision of Kepmenhut 44/2005; and (2) introduce and implementation of selected development programs at the farm and the regional level. Specialty arabica coffee contributed by 3.27%; 5.99%; and 13.17o% in the regional income of Simalungun District, agriculture sector, and estate crop subsector, respectively. Base on indicators of absorption of local labor, specialty arabica coffee is able to contribute about 8.29,%; 14,47%; and 24,86%o in the total workforce, agriculture sector, and estates crop subsector. Specialty arabica coffee farm able to give a US$2.05 per capita per day, so it is able to reduce the poverty level in the rural region. It is recommended that the Simalungun local government adopt the model of LED specialty arabica coffee commodity-based.

Faster development of innovative machine tools, shorter processing times, improved surface quality of workpieces, higher machine productivity – these are just a few of the wishes and demands of machine manufacturers and end-users. Time-to-market is decisive; in some industries, six months too late on the market can already be decisive in losing the race for market leadership. The key to success lies in virtual techniques. These are an extremely cost-effective way to increase productivity in all phases of the machine tools life cycle. Siemens AG, the leading provider for control and drive technology, sees itself as a partner for the whole machine tool industry and offers four phases of simulation support which cover the entire life cycle of a machine: Mechatronic Support for simulation for machine development, Machine Simulator for supporting commissioning, Virtual Production for the optimization of production and, finally, Virtual NC Kernel (VNCK) for the testing of NC part programs at the end-user.

The aim of this chapter is to better understand the enabling and inhibiting impacts IT has on lean manufacturing. This chapter provides a rich picture of a paper mill producing liner reels and the impact of a reel administration system on the manufacturing process. It is important that an IT tool supporting lean manufacturing reflects its organization. When it does the IT tool can act as an enabler of organizational change that in turn increase productivity and the production quality, when it fails to do so it inhibits organizational change and hampers the quality of production. The conclusion is that framing the definition of high production quality regarding product and process is important and that teambuilding would be a contribution to this end by enhancing perspective taking among the employees.
