Through the practice for environmental protection in the past few decades, people increasingly recognize that relying solely on the development of more effective pollution control technologies that can achieve environmental improvement is very limited. To care products and the environmental impact of production processes and depend on improving production processes and strengthen the management and other measures to eliminate pollution is more effective. So the cleaner production strategies have emerged. Cleaner production is a great significant to environmental protection strategy of innovation, and is the inevitable choice for sustainable industrial development.

Small-scale industrial enterprises play a highly important role in the development of countries such as India and China since they tend to be labour-intensive, contribute to decentralised industrial development, and are flexible and responsive to emerging demands. However they also often use outdated and highly polluting technologies and, operating in very competitive environments, have very limited financial reserves to invest in “non-productive” pollution control technologies. There has been very little research anywhere into low-cost pollution-control technologies or more applicable pollution control strategies for this sector.

With global resource waste and environmental pollution becoming increasingly serious, corporate investment environmental performance (CIEP) of blockchain industry has received much attention from researchers over the past decade. As an important part of economic development, enterprises also pay increasing attention to environmental protection and pollution control. CIEP of blockchain industry is regarded as the result of corporate environmental management. Assessing CIEP of blockchain industry can not only make enterprises focus on the environmental protection and management but also promote sustainable social development. Also, it is always viewed as multiattribute group decision making (MAGDM). Thus, a new MAGDM model is used to tackle it. Based on the CODAS (combinative distance-based assessment) method and intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs), this paper designs the distance-based IF-CODAS method to assess CIEP. Eventually, an application about CIEP evaluation is employed to show the superiority of the defined method. The results illustrate that the defined framework is very useful for assessing CIEP.

This research is intended to find out the role of the regional environmental impact Control Agency of Batam City against the environmental problems that occur in industrial areas namely, Batam city, concerning sustainable development based upon the environment, the activities of the industry now aims to build an economic sector but has a negative effect that is the pollution of the environment. In this case in Batam city frequent occurrence of environmental pollution caused by industrial activity namely with disposal of waste which are not in place. This research is focused on environmental impact Control Agency area of Batam city authorities in the control of the environment . With the outline of the research issues namely how environmental impact Control Agency the role of the Regions in the control of pollution of the environment against industrial activity in Batam city in 2011-2014 and the factors restricting the role of the regional environmental impact Control Agency in controlling environmental pollution in Batam city in 2011-2014.Type of this research is a descriptive i.e. researchers provide a description and overview of the phenomenon or social symptoms examined by independent variables described in a systematic and accurate. Method of data collection is done by means of interviews and the documentation.The results of this research show that the role of environmental impact Control Agency area of Batam city in pollution control against industrial activity carried out according to its function but have not run well in accordance with the goals and targets that have been set. This is not in accordance with the duties and functions of the regional environmental impact Control Agency of Batam city, resulting in less the maximum role of Bapedalda itself in controlling pollution that occurred in Batam city. So it should be should be able to stake Bapedalda holder which is professional in the discharge of pollution control and must be capable of tackling the obstacles faced.

Immediately after independence in 1946, the Government of India resorted to rapid industrialization to minimize outside dependence and to improve the standard of living. This, while helping the country to grow, also created problems of environmental management. Rapid deterioration of natural resources forced the Government to enact a number of legislative measures and create regulatory agencies both at central and state government levels. These agencies were given powers to effectively implement various Acts. Severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment, were envisaged for offenders of environmental Acts. Responsibilities were defined, to avoid a scapegoat approach. On the other hand, to reward industries showing a positive approach to environmental protection, a number of fiscal incentives and tax benefits were also offered. Recently, to provide more comprehensive legislation for the protection of all the components of the environment under a single agency, a new bill entitled the ‘Environmental Protection Bill, 1986' has been introduced in Parliament. This regulatory approach has started to show results, and more and more industries have started to provide pollution control facilities.

A common claim in disability studies is that industrialization has marginalized disabled people by limiting their access to paid employment. This claim is empirically weak and rests on simplified accounts of industrialization. Use of the British coal industry during the period 1780–1880 as a case study shows that reassessment of the effect of the Industrial Revolution is in order. The Industrial Revolution was not as detrimental to the lives of disabled people as has often been assumed. While utopian workplaces for disabled people hardly existed, industrial sites of work did accommodate quite a large number of workers with impairments. More attention therefore needs to be paid to neglected or marginalized features of industrial development in the theorization of disability. Drawing on historical research on disability in the industrial workplace will help scholars better understand the significance of industrialization to the lives of disabled people, both in the past and the present.

Abstract In 2015, the All-China Environment Federation v Dezhou Jinghua Group Zhenhua Corporation Limited case was the first civil environmental public interest litigation (CEPIL) against air pollution in China. Constituting a milestone in the field of air pollution control in China, this case (i) confirms the eligibility of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) to file civil public interest litigations; (ii) discusses remedies for the ecological destruction caused by air pollution; (iii) assesses the ecological and environmental damage using the ‘virtual restoration cost’ method; and (iv) uses public apology as an innovative way for Zhenhua to assume liability. By applying and interpreting several important rules under the Environmental Protection Law of China (EPLC) for the first time, this case sets an example for future CEPILs against air pollution in China.

Green infrastructure practices could provide innovative solutions for on-site stormwater management and runoff pollution control, which could relieve the stress of nonpoint pollution resulting from heavy rainfall events. In this study, the performance and cost-effectiveness of six green infrastructure practices, namely, green roofs, rain gardens, pervious surfaces, swales, detention basins, and constructed wetlands, were investigated. The comprehensive performance evaluation in terms of the engineering performance, environmental impact, and economic cost was determined in the proposed engineering–environmental–economic (3E) triangle model. The results revealed that these green infrastructure practices were effective for stormwater management in terms of runoff attenuation, peak flow reduction and delay, and pollutant attenuation. It was suggested that for pollution control, detention basins can efficiently reduce the total suspended solids, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and lead. The implementation of detention basins is highly recommended due to their higher engineering performance and lower environmental impact and economic cost. A case study of a preliminary cost–benefit analysis of green infrastructure practice exemplified by the Pearl River Delta in China was addressed. It suggested that green infrastructure was cost-effective in stormwater management in this area, which would be helpful for sustaining healthy urban watersheds.

In the past 30 years, highly specific drugs, known as antibodies, have conquered the biopharmaceutical market. In addition to monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), antibody fragments are successfully applied. However, recombinant production faces challenges. Process analytical tools for monitoring and controlling production processes are scarce and time-intensive. In the downstream process (DSP), affinity ligands are established as the primary and most important step, while the application of other methods is challenging. The use of these affinity ligands as monitoring tools would enable a platform technology to monitor process steps in the USP and DSP. In this review, we highlight the current applications of affinity ligands (proteins A, G, and L) and discuss further applications as process analytical tools.
