We must look ahead at today's radical changes in technology, not just as forecasters but as actors charged with designing and bringing about a sustainable and acceptable world. New knowledge gives us power for change: for good or ill, for knowledge is neutral. The problems we face go well beyond technology: problems of living in harmony with nature, and most important, living in harmony with each other. Information technology, so closely tied to the properties of the human mind, can give us, if we ask the right questions, the special insights we need to advance these goals. Herbert A. Simon (2000)

The business world today is characterized by increasing competition among existing companies. Competition occurs in all sectors of the economy both industry, trade, and services. One of the decisions that must be taken in planning at every alternative is to buy or produce itself a component of raw materials. Differential cost are related to the opportunity cost, which is the differential cost incurred costs as a result of certain decisions while the opportunity cost is the cost incurred when choosing a decision. The purpose of this study to analyze the differential costs and opportunity costs in the decision to buy or produce their own on Industri Rumah Panggung Woloan. The analytical method used is descreptive quantitative. Result of the differential cost analysis showed that the right decisions can be taken by the management company the manufactures its own because getting a hihgter differential gain, compared to buying from outside. While the opportunity cost of the buying raw materials from outside is more profitable, thus producing itself becomes more expensive. Should the leadership Industri Rumah Panggung Woloan produce their own wood from the outside becauseit would be more adventageous, compared to taking wood there are kept alone.

Abstract There has been a recent awareness of the importance of making the right manufacturing decisions early in the design process before the cost penalty of making changes becomes too high. The selection of the most appropriate manufacturing process — of which there are a very large number — is one such decision. It is commonly based on human-resident experience or on established local practice. As such, some potentially-usable processes may be overlooked. This paper explores ways in which process selection might be made more systematic. It presents a procedure for manufacturing process selection which considers all manufacturing processes and eliminates the ones which cannot satisfy the design requirements. This is achieved using Process Selection Charts in which process capabilities are displayed graphically. A procedure for the ranking of the successful processes based on cost is under development. The systematic selection procedure lends itself well to computer implementation. A database of manufacturing processes and an advanced user interface thus provide ideal support for designers. Cambridge Materials Selector (CMS) software is currently being applied to manufacturing process selection.

The use of electrical equipment that is not in accordance with the standards established by SNI (Standar Nasional Indonesia) and the installation of electrical equipment that is not in accordance with the provisions are still often found in people's homes, so that the threat of electric fire hazards will be possible. Data from the recapitulation of fire incidents in DKI Jakarta Province in 2018 revealed that the biggest cause of fire was due to electrical short circuit, as many as 494 fire incidents occurred in a total of 1667 residences. This is quite alarming because many of the fires are caused by the low quality and installation of cables in most people's homes and residents do not understand the dangers of using inappropriate electrical energy. To participate in assisting the government inconducting socialization about the right electricity usage to prevent fires, the PPM activities in the form of socialization and direct assistance to residents' homes. The purpose of this activity is so that in the future residents of the Tugu Selatan Village of North Jakarta are more concerned about the electrical installations andthe electrical equipment they use by following with specified standards. This activity is very useful for the residents, proven by their enthusiasm in participating in the extension program with questions about the correct use of electrical energy and people's curiosity in knowing how to save electricity usage at home and calculate the cost of using electricity in their homes.

AbstractBibliocrime is caused by library user activities that can damage and harm the activities in the library. In order to reduce losses caused by Bibliocrime actions, prevention is carried out in order to improve the quality of services in the library and to reduce the number of damaged collections. One of them is by giving information and understanding to users that bibliocrime is included in acts of crime that can harm the library and other users. Therefore, the right tools are needed as a medium of information about Bibliocrime. Booklet as one of the information media is very useful to facilitate the delivery of information to users, with the booklet making it easier for users to understand what forms of crime should be avoided by users in the library, as well as what disadvantages caused by Bibliocrime activities and how how to prevent Bibliocrime actions. Booklets also facilitate librarians in delivering information, so librarians do not need to convey information directly because the booklet is an intermediary media in delivering information from librarians to users. Making booklets, namely: (1) needs analysis; (2) product design; (3)product manufacturing; booklet product manufacturing process is carried out.(4) product trial results; carried out to find out how the responses of librarians and librarians to the information contained in the booklet. Keywords: Bibliocrime, Booklet, Library

The planning and argumentation of two intercity railway (IR) projects (Lanzhou-Zhongchuan, Xi’an North Passenger Station-airport) in Northwest China have attracted more and more attention by Chinese Central Government, local governments in Northwest China and some research organizations recently. In order to explore and find out the right way of IR development in Northwest China, we must combine with characteristics and uniqueness of Northwest Provinces, research the question more comprehensively. This paper aims at estimating the strategic impacts of IR construction on regional economy, society and environment in the future systematically, especially on the development of economy. So we choose Lanzhou-Zhongchuan IR as an instance, research this problem based on previous project experiences on it and actual dates provided from No.1 Survey & Design Institute of the Ministry of Railway (MOR). By introducing Scenario analysis method, this paper systematically enumerates and concretely analyzes the opponent viewpoints combining with the decision-making tendency of saving cost, protecting environment, promoting social and economic harmony in transportation planning. And then we make certain what are the critical conflicts in value judgment, select and determine the right construction scheme of the IR from three interactive perspective scenarios. The key technical difficulties and breakthroughs of our research are expressed, such as determination of necessity factors’ weight, forecasting traffic demand of the IR, regional economic impact of the IR and so on. It is expected that scenario analysis method would be helpful for decision-making of IR constructions in the future. And we hope to report further on this in subsequent papers.

On the basis of experimental results obtained during performance evaluation of five types of solar stills, kept in outdoor conditions on a single plate form, the cost of distilled water produced have been calculated by using a uniform cost analysis method. The experiments were performed at I.I.T. Delhi, India during year 2001–2002 under summer and winter, both the climatic conditions. It can be concluded that the cost of distilled water produced from a multiwick double slope solar still is lesser than other solar stills due to higher yield/hour. However for small scale purposes, multiwick single slope solar still is better option.

For the student creativity program in this entrepreneurship class, we run a business program for hanging ornaments made of rope. We give this business the name of Making a Bohemian Ceiling Decoration (Fringe Bohemian). This Bohemian Ceiling Decoration is a craft made from rope. The rope used can be various as desired, such as rope, wool rope, plastic rope, etc. But we are here using the basic material of wool rope. This handicraft business aims to increase creativity and be innovative in entrepreneurship, especially for young entrepreneurs. The hanging decoration business from this rope is easy in the manufacturing process but it takes time and requires patience in making it and the materials needed to make this decoration easy to get. The form of our business is still in an individual stage only. We do not yet have official permission from the government, because this business is still new and is still trying to enter the business world. In the future, if this business can get extraordinary profits and have enough customers, then we will increase this business to be even bigger. Many factors need to be considered in order to advance this Bohemian Ceiling Decoration business. Important factors that must be considered in order to advance this business include choosing the right location, a good marketing strategy and determining affordable prices in the community. If all the factors above can be planned properly, it will be able to make this business grow well. For this reason, it is necessary to make a business plan as a reference in accelerating the business of making Bohemian Ceiling Decorations (Bohemian Fringe).

Abstract Background : Over the past few years, the capacity of the government of Mozambique to sustain the operational cost of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) is facing numerous challenges due to restrictions of the Official Development Assistance (ODA), an external aid scheme of financing from the Mozambican government budget. Objectives: The objective of the study was to estimate the cost of IRS operationalization in two districts of Maputo Province (Matutuíne and Namaacha) in Mozambique, in 2014. Methods: The cost analysis followed an “ingredients based” approach from the provider perspective. The cost information was collected retrospectively, and both economic and financial costs were calculated. Results were tested using a “one-way” deterministic sensitivity analysis. Results : From the economic analysis, Matutuíne and Namaacha on average totaled an annual economic cost of US$117,351.34, with an average economic cost per household sprayed of US$16.35, and an average economic cost per person protected of US$4.09. In the financial analysis, both districts faced an average total annual financial cost of US$69,174.83, an average financial cost per household sprayed and per person protected of US$9.84 and US$2.46, respectively. Our findings indicate that vehicles, personnel salaries, and IRS consumables were components with a substantial cost for IRS operationalization. Conclusions : For our results, with resource constraints, it is important to focus on operationalizing IRS within the available budget by respecting the right timing for scheduled IRS spraying rounds and by paying attention to cost drivers in order to reduce the costs.
