Abstract Background Currently, oral targeted therapies are known to be effective and are frequently used to treat metastatic cancer patients, but fatigue is a frequently reported early side effect of these treatments. This fatigue may impact the patient’s treatment adherence and result in a negative impact on quality of life. Physical exercise significantly improved the general well-being and quality of life of advanced cancer patients. However, there is no specific physical activity program adapted for patients with advanced disease. Methods QUALIOR is a two-part, randomized, open-label, and multicenter with two arms phase II/III trial. Patients (phase II: n = 120; phase III: n = 312) with metastatic cancer (breast cancer, kidney cancer, lung cancer, and other cancers [including but not limited to colon cancer, melanoma, sarcoma, or hepatocarcinoma]) treated with a first- or second-line oral targeted therapy without chemotherapy will be included. Patients will be randomized (2:1) to a 3-month supervised home-based standardized physical activity program or to a recommended adapted physical activity (via a booklet). The primary objective of the phase II is to evaluate the feasibility of the supervised program. The primary objective of the phase III is the evaluation of the benefit of the supervised home-based program compare to the recommended program in terms of fatigue and quality of life at 3 months. The secondary objectives aim to evaluate the impact of the supervised program on fatigue over time, pain, physical capacities, psychosocial and cognitive functions, general quality of life, frequency of dose reduction and patients’ adherence to the targeted therapy, overall survival, and progression-free survival. This study will also evaluate the medico-economic impact of supervised program compared to the recommended adapted physical activity program. Discussion The aim of this study is to evaluate home-based physical exercise program for metastatic cancer patients treated with oral targeted therapies to help patients to cope with fatigue and improve quality of life. Trial registration This trial was registered in ClinicalTrials.gov since May 2017 (NCT03169075).

e20635 Background: Osseous metastases in patients suffering from cancer, is a multifactor symptom which affects quality of life. Methods: The Samarium group (SG) n=53 patients received a single bolus infusion of (153)Sm (37 MBq/kg), and we compared with a Control group(CG) n=37. Both groups of patients who had metastatic bone cancer requiring analgesia answered the following questionnaires: Greek Brief Pain Inventory (GBPI), Brief Multidimensional Life Satisfaction Scale (BMLSS), Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS), ECOG/WHO/Zubrod score and Hospital Satisfaction Scale (HSS),day 0 and 30±3 days after the intervention start. There was no statistically significant(SS) difference for the variables(V-) sex, age, pain’s localization and lodging. Results: Pain severity and pain interference change over time was the same for both groups P= 0.0005. For the V- HADS-anxiety, SG showed no SS improvementP= 0.397, something which was achieved for the CG,P= 0.031. The V- HADS improved SS for both groups P= 0.031 and P= 0.003 respectively which changed over time with the same way. This may show the strong relation between pain and depression. The V- ECOG also changed over time in the same way for both SG(P=0.005) and CG (P=0.014). The percentage of patients who changed scale towards improvement for their quality of life was 24,3% for the CG and 15,1% for the SG. The V-BMLSS change over time was similar for both groups. There was no SS difference for the V-HSS towards medical and nursing personnel for both groups (P=1.000). Myelotoxicity for the SG was moderate and reversible, as well as the side effects for the CG. Finally an equivalence test between the two groups, showing that both treatment regimens were equivalent for all variables: Pain severity=0.034, Pain interference=0.009, HAD-anxiety P=0.048, HAD-depression=0.033, BMLSS=0.016, ECOG=0.0005. During our study among the patients of the SG in some cases the stabilization of bone lesions was observed, and in one case partial and/or complete remission. Conclusions: Administration of (153)Sm is another equivalent option for those patients who are intolerant or resistant to medication treatment having a better cost-effectiveness result.

Abstract Purpose To investigate the status quo and relationship between self-management efficacy and quality of life (QOL) of patients with breast cancer undergoing endocrine therapy, and to explore the influencing factors of QOL. Methods The convenience sampling method was used to select 240 patients who received endocrine therapy after breast cancer surgery in the First Hospital of China Medical University, the self-designed general data questionnaire, self-management efficacy questionnaire for breast cancer patients with endocrine therapy and quality of life scale for breast cancer patients were used to investigate. The frequency, percentage, mean ± standard deviation were used to describe patients' self-management efficacy and quality of life. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between self-management efficacy and quality of life, and univariate analysis and multiple stepwise regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of QOL. Results The scores of self-management efficacy and QOL of patients with breast cancer endocrine therapy were 125.21 ± 25.57 and 153.33 ± 19.31 respectively, which were at the middle level; self-management efficacy was significantly positively correlated with quality of life ( p < 0.01 ) ; multiple stepwise regression results showed that self-management efficacy, the number of physical symptoms, monthly family income and recurrence and metastasis were the influencing factors of QOL. Conclusion The self-management efficacy of endocrine therapy was positively correlated with QOL in breast cancer patients. The higher the self-management efficacy of endocrine therapy, the better QOL in breast cancer patients. Self-management efficacy is the main factor affecting the quality of life of breast cancer patients undergoing endocrine therapy. Improving the level of self-management efficacy can improve their quality of life.

e19389 Background: Financial toxicity (FT) among cancer patients (CP) is multifactorial, arising from both disease-related and non- disease related factors, including socio-cultural, environmental, and psychological attributes. It derives both from costs related to assistance and borne on the patients and its caregivers, and reduction of income capacity also in this case borne on the patients and on the caregivers. Stress levels may escalate to significant proportions in some patient, to present with symptoms of anxiety especially during therapy administration periods. Methods: In order to highlight financial toxicity related to the diagnosis of metastatic pancreatic and lung cancer and to measure its evolution over time and any correlation with the prognosis, we developed a questionnaire called FT16 and we conducted a validation study on a sample of 31 patients. The design of the study involved the development and the psychometric assessment of a scale to measure the perceived sources of FT among CP. Following extensive literature review, a table of specification with the initial items was created to guide item construction for developing the scale. The items related to these FT were converted into an 16-item, multipoint questionnaire, resulting in the FT16. We also monitored quality of life of the patients, using the QlQ C-30 questionnaire, in the aim to capture correlation between FT onset and quality of life deterioration; clinical characteristics of the patients, response to therapy and outcome parameters also have been recorded in the aim to evaluate eventual correlation with FT. Results: The questionnaire was administered to 31 adult patients with lung and pancreatic metastatic cancer, both men and women, who were newly diagnosed and will undergo cancer treatment. Each of them has been informed about the research and written informed consent has been obtained. The internal consistency reliability (Cronbach’s alpha) was 0.77 for the 16 items of the FT16. Analyses of variance (ANOVAs) indicated that there were no significant differences in the mean FT16 score, between sexes, and age groups in the severity score. Conclusions: FT16 questionnaire seems to be an useful tool to capture FT onset in this poor-prognosis subset of patients; the analysis of the data recorded will continue to assess the capability of the FT16 to capture correlations with clinical characteristics at diagnosis and correlations with the prognosis.

Abstract Background Self-management education of diabetes which is one of the most important noncommunicable diseases worldwide involves facilitating knowledge, skills, and ability required for self-care in these patients. Concerning the progressive growth of use of Internet for educating patients and absence of different studies about education through use of weblogs in patients with diabetes in Iran, the present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effect of self-management education through weblogs on the quality of life of affect the patients. Methods This study was performed as intervention on patients referring to diabetes clinic of Talghani hospital in Kermanshah in winter 2018 and spring 2019. The samples consisted of 98 patients with diabetes chosen through available sampling and randomly assigned into study and control groups. For data collection, diabetes quality of life (DQOL) short form clinical questionnaire, Persian version, was used. The intervention involved training self-management conducted through 60 sessions via a designed weblog. The obtained information was introduced into SPSS 21, and analyzed through Mann-Whitney, t-test, and paired t-test. Results According to the results of this study, the mean age of the examined patients was 32.1 ± 4.9 years, where the major participants were male (n = 52 in the test group, 52.5%). The results showed that after the intervention, the test and control groups were different in terms of anthropometric variables and metabolic indicators; the mean waist circumference in the test and control groups was 98.6 ± 9.8 and 101.5 ± 7.8, respectively; the mean FBS following the intervention in the test and control groups was 131.08 ± 16.04 and 238.2 ± 40, respectively; and the mean BMI postintervention in the test and control groups was obtained as 27.3 ± 3.4 and 30.1 ± 3.8 respectively, where these differences were significant according to independent t-test (p < 0.05). The mean score of quality of life postintervention in the test and control groups was obtained as 56.1 and 49.9 respectively; according to Mann-Whitney test, the difference between the two groups was significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion The results of the present study revealed the positive effect of weblog based self-management on the quality of life of patients with diabetes following the intervention. Further, reduced levels of FBS, BMI, as well as systolic and diastolic blood pressure were also observed, which could be due to increased awareness of patients about their abilities, its risks, as well as the ways to control and treat it.
