This study aims to analyze the effect of debt to equity ratio and current ratio on firm value with return on assets as an intervening variable on food and beverages companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period of 2016-2018. The study uses secondary data from the annual report through access to www.idx.co.id. Data were analyzed using path analysis. The total sample of 13 companies and the method of taking sample members used is purposive sampling. The variables of this study consisted of debt to equity ratio and current ratio as exogenous variables, firm value as endogenous variables, and return on assets as intervening variables. The analysis shows that the debt to equity ratio, current ratio and return on assets have a positive effect on firm value. Debt to equity ratio and current ratio also have a positive effect on return on assets. Based on the results of the path analysis of the implications of this research that return on assets can not affect the relationship between debt to equity ratio and current ratio to the firm value so that it can provide input to researchers. It is better to add research periods and use a sample of several other sectors and can also use variables others that can strengthen the results of previous studies

The aim of our paper is to test for a causality interdependence between profitability and firm value. To this end, we examined a sample of two European countries: Italy and Poland. Our samples contain 200 firms from each country studied over a period of 4 years from 2007 to 2010. As a measure of firm performance, we use two ratios; return on assets and return on equity. Regarding firm value, we used two ratios; Tobin’s Q calculated as long-term debt increased by short-term debt divided by total assets, and Market To Book ratio calculated as market capitalization divided by shareholder’s equity. The descriptive statistics show that Italian firms have higher market values. We obtained mean values of 1,123 and 2,0698 of Tobin’s Q and MTB, respectively. However, firms of Poland are more profitable than firms of Italy. Using a data panel method, we concluded that for firms of Italy, there is a causality relationship between profitability, approximated by return on assets and return on equity and firm value, measured by Tobin’s Q. For firms of Poland, a causality relationship is also found.

Islamic social reporting is a social reporting that involves not only a holistic expectation of society regarding the role of the companies in the community but also a spiritual perspective. This study examines the influences of Islamic social reporting, profitability (which representated by return on assets), and liquidity (which representated by current ratio) to firm value. To measure the extent of Islamic social reporting, the researcher used a checklist that had been specified by AAOIFI (Accounting and Auditing Organization For Islamic Financial Institution) and developed by previous researchers. This study used purposive sampling method from companies listed in Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) during 2016-2019. There are 16 companies which fulfill the criteria as the research samples. The samples data in this study analyzed using multiple linear regression method. The result indicated that Islamic social reporting, profitability (which representated by return on assets), and liquidity (which representated by current ratio) have positif and siginificant effect simultaneously to firm value. While partially, Islamic social reporting has positive but not significant effect to firm value, profitability (which representated by return on assets) has positive and significant effect to firm value, and liquidity (which representated by current ratio) has positive and significant effect to firm value, these are because the good level of corporate profitability and liquidity reflect good financial performance, so that investor perceptions will increase and ultimately will also increase the firm value.
