It is taken for granted that Igbo cultural motifs are pivotal to the formation of Nollywood costumes. The researcher thus finds the examination of the evolution of Nollywood costumes an important subject that requires urgent attention. The aim of this examination is to assert the dominance of Igbo cultural motifs in Nollywood costumes. Qualitative research method was adopted for the research. Using ethnographic research approach, the researcher had sought the opinions of experts in traditional Igbo aesthetics and symbols. The study finds semiotic theory appropriate model for the costume analysis. Findings from this research reveal that Igbo dress culture was pivotal to the development of Nollywood costumes and has continued to play significant roles in costuming Nollywood characters. This research recommends that Nollywood costume designers should focus more on the communicative essence of costumes and their effectiveness in preserving culture. Costume designers should also be given ample time and budget to carry out an ethnographic research in order to employ motifs appropriately. The objective of this article is to determine how event organizers collaborate with stakeholders including the media, particular community, sponsors, participants, venue providers, accommodation providers, carteres, legal and finance personnel, production, local trade, transportation providers, government and associations for implementation Public Relations event. This paper discusses about the things that must be done for the cooperation and the benefits of cooperation undertaken. The method used in this paper is qualitative research method based on observations, literature and case studies. The results of this research note that the event organizers or companies can together with the stakeholders (the other party) make an event as mutually beneficial Public Relations. This means that all parties can achieve through the event. At the conclusion of an event Public Relations, all stakeholders involved for their own purposes. Event organizer must ensure that all stakeholders work together effectively in accordance with the agreed schedule and budget. One important feature of the agreement is to maintain a good flow of communication according to the needs of its stakeholders. All information is documented to avoid misunderstandings. Collaboration between stakeholders continuously until the event is completed. Discussion of issues that arise during the event takes place between the committee with various stakeholders is an important thing for the evaluation and response to the events that occurred.

Ethnography is a powerful qualitative research method used to understand research informants’ perspectives on a health-related topic. Developed and pioneered by anthropologists, this method has become an important tool across disciplines and industries. This chapter explains the utility of the method for use in the health humanities and offers step-by-step instructions to teach the reader to conduct ethnographic research. Concrete examples from long-term research projects demonstrate not only how this method is used to answer “why” and “how” questions, but also how this type of research pairs with other research methods. Many tools are offered to the reader to assist in the development of ethnographic research skills including resources, references, and an exercise to teach the method.

<p>This research aims to reveal the visual meanings behind Cak Cuk product designs. Cak Cuk is a brand of clothing and accessories from Surabaya City. Its products such as T-shirts or bags typically display various designs with Surabaya-related themes. This research used the qualitative research method by gathering and analyzing the designs displayed on various Cak Cuk products. The data, which consisted of various visual texts<br />and verbal texts, were analyzed using concepts from Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory: denotation, connotation, and myth. The results show that both visual texts and verbal texts contained in those Cak Cuk designs represent the condition and identity of Surabaya City. These visual meanings include Surabaya’s historical association with heroism,<br />preservation of cultural objects such as historical buildings, the tough characteristic of the Surabayans and their great sense of brotherhood, and appreciation to Surabaya’s culinary traditions.</p>

The practice of tolerance between religious is an issue that is still controversial in the Islamic world because of its connection with the question of liberalism and pluralism. Tolerance between religions is an important and effective element in the fulfillment of religious and spiritual needs in accordance with the maqasid syariah approach. This study is a qualitative research method used as a library research approach. focuses on the meaning of tolerance between religions in practice and the methods of approach to the practice of tolerance in Islam practiced from time to time. Thus, maqasid syariah interpretations in the sense and the approach used by earlier Islamic scholars as well as in dealing with issues of contemporary fiqh thought. The findings of this study can also expand on existing knowledge of contemporary fiqh thinking in maqasid syariah and the limits of tolerance between religions. The results of this study will add new knowledge about the maqasid syariah and its application in people's lives.

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendiskripsikan dan memahami pelaksanaan pitungan Jawa dalam aktivitas permulaan waktu tanam pada petani di Kelurahan Temas, Kecamatan Batu, Kota Batu. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode etnografi. Peneliti tinggal di lokasi penelitian selama pelaksanaan penelitian dengan mengamati, melihat, ikut serta, dan berdiskusi dengan warga lokasi penelitian, khususnya para informan. Informan dalam penelitian berjumlah 7 orang terdiri dari penduduk setempat yang memiliki primbon Jawa, mengetahui dan memahami serta mengaplikasikan pitungan Jawa, bersedia berdiskusi secara terbuka dengan peneliti. Analisis data dilakukan dengan tahapan pengumpulan, penyajian, reduksi atau kondensasi, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi pitungan Jawa dalam upaya menentukan awal bercocok tanam bervariasi. Menurut petani, pitungan Jawa adalah kearifan lokal yang perlu dilestarikan. Mereka percaya pada nasihat orang tua mengenai hal-hal buruk yang telah terbukti di masa lalu apabila tidak mengikuti perkiraan dalam primbon. Petani beranggapan bahwa penerapan pitungan Jawa adalah salah satu bentuk ikhtiar kepada Allah SWT. Meskipun demikian petani tetap menganut ajaran agama dan menghindari tindakan yang bertentangan dengan syariat Islam. Bentuk implementasi pitungan Jawa di Kelurahan Temas tidak persis sama dengan ketentuan yang tertulis dalam primbon, seperti halnya tidak lagi menyediakan sesajen yang ditempatkan dalam takir. Syarat utama petani yang akan melakukan pitungan Jawa yakni haruslah mengingat hari meninggal orang tua dan tanggal 1 Suro. Apabila hasil pitungan Jawa jatuh pada hari tersebut, petani dilarang memulai penanaman. Harapannya adalah untuk menghindari rintangan buruk. Acuan yang digunakan oleh petani adalah oyot, wit, godhong, uwoh yang disesuaikan dengan jenis tanaman yang akan ditanam.        This study aims to describe and understand the implementation of Javanese calculations in the activity of starting planting time for farmers in Temas Village, Batu District, Batu City. Researchers used a qualitative research approach that was classified as an ethnographic research method. Researchers stay at the research location during the implementation of the research by observing, seeing, participating in, and discussing with residents of the research location, especially informants. There are 7 informants in the study consisting of local residents who have Javanese Primbon, know and understand and apply Javanese calculations, willing to have open discussions with researchers. Data analysis was carried out by collecting, presenting, reducing/condensing, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the perception of the Javanese count in the effort to determine the start of planting varied. According to farmers, Javanese pitung is local wisdom that needs to be preserved. They trust their parents' advice about bad things that have been proven in the past if they don't follow the predictions in the Primbon. Farmers think that the application of Javanese calculations is a form of endeavor to Allah SWT. Even so, farmers still adhere to religious teachings and avoid actions that are contrary to Islamic law. The form of implementation of the Javanese calculation in Kelurahan Temas is not exactly the same as the provisions written in the Primbon, such as no longer providing offerings that are placed in takir. The main requirement for farmers to do Javanese calculations is to remember the day their parents died and the 1st of Suro. If the results of the Javanese calculations fall on those days, the farmer is prohibited from starting planting. The hope is to avoid bad obstacles. The references used by farmers are oyot, wit, godhong, uwoh which are adjusted to the type of plant to be planted.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the ornamental and symbolic forms of the Lama Gang Bengkok Mosque building, and explain the history of the Lama Gang Bengkok  Mosque which was used as a multiethnic symbol in Medan City. The method used is a qualitative research method and described descriptively. The theory used in this study is the semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Peirce. Data was obtained through observation and interview techniques with several informants and people around. The results showed that this building became one of the multiethnic symbols of harmony between religious and cultured people from ancient times to the present, and can be seen from the form and symbolism of the Lama Gang Bengkok Mosque building, such as the forms and symbols of Malay, Chinese and Persian culture.Keywords: Lama Gang Bengkok mosque; Ornaments; symbolis; Multi-Language; Medan City.

Abstrak Penelitaian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tentang bagaimana implementasi multikulturalisme antara masyarakat agama hindu dengan masyarakat agama islam dalam tradisi perang topat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan studi kasus. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan adalah memilih masalah, mengumpulkan bahan yang relevan, menentukan strategi dan mengembangkan instrument, mengumpulkan data, menafsirkan data dan melaporkan hasil penelitian. Peneliti mewawancarai tiga narasumber yaitu Kepala Desa Lingsar, Pemangku Kemaliq Lingsar dan Ketua Pengurus Pura Lingsar. Penelitian ini di lakukan di Desa Lingsar Kecamatan Lingsar Kabupaten Lombok Barat pada bulan Februari-April 2020. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyimpulkan cara mengimplementasikan multikulturalisme adalah: (1) Selalu menjaga komunikasi antar umat beragama, tokoh-tokoh masyarakat, dan pemuda. (2) Penyampaian tentang pentingnya mengimplementasian multikulturalisme pada kegiatan keagamaan maupun musyawarah. (3) Melibatkan kedua agama dalam setiap kegiatan. (4) Perlu adanya rasa toleransi dan saling menghormati. (5) Menjaga kelestarian tradisi Perang Topat dengan cara tetap melaksanakan tradisi tersebut. Dan (6) Memberikan pengetahuan kepada pemuda selaku pewaris tradisi Perang Topat tentang pentingnya menjaga kerukunan dan multikulturalisme. Kata Kunci: Implementasi multikulturalisme, tradisi perang topat. Abstract This study aims to analyze the implementation of multiculturalism between Hindu religious communities and Islamic religious communities in the Topat War Tradition. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method using case studies. The steps taken are choosing the problem, determine strategy and develop instruments, collecting data, interpret data and report research results. The researcher interviewed three speakers, namely the Head of Lingsar Village, Pemangku Kemaliq Lingsar and the Chairperson of Pura Lingsar. This research was conducted in Lingsar Village, Lingsar District, West Lombok Regency in February-April 2020. The results of this study conclude how to implement multiculturalism are: (1) Always maintain communication between religious communities, community leaders, and youth. (2) Submission of the importance of implementing multiculturalism in religious and deliberative activities. (3) Involving both religions in every activity. (4) There needs to be a sense of tolerance and mutual respect. (5) Maintaining the tradition of Topat War by continuing to carry out the tradition. And (6) Providing knowledge to the youth as the heir to the Topat War tradition about the importance of maintaining harmony and multiculturalism. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, almost all Indonesians, including Bengkulu province, expect to experience the spike in positive cases of Covid-19, particularly in the Rejang Lebong Regency, resulting in many very significant changes in almost all fields, especially in the field of education. The learning process, consisting of synchronous learning, is carried out internet (online), namely face-to-face by video calls/ zoom meetings and asynchronous, namely by assignments. Using observational data methods, interviews, and notes, the research approach used is a qualitative research method. The aim of this study is to provide some explanations of the use of the zoom meeting application during a pandemic in online learning, to evaluate the constraints of using the zoom meeting application and the benefits of the application for zoom meeting from several features during a pandemic in online learning. The findings of this study show that it can be easier for lecturers and students to interact synchronously in the learning process by applying the zoom meeting application to learning during this pandemic.

Abstract: Kecap ABC Advertisement in edition Suami Sejati Hargai Istri is one of Kecap ABC advertisements produced from a series of campaigns called Suami Sejati Mau Masak, Terima Kasih Perasan Pertama launched by Heinz ABC Indonesia to express appreciation to the wife or mother in domestic work, one of which is cooking. This advertisement not only contains the aim of appreciating men for women in the kitchen but also conveys the message of feminism that is conveyed visually in the advertisements. The purpose of this study was to analyze the visual messages of feminism in the Kecap ABC advertisement in edition Suami Sejati Hargai Istri using the meaning of Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method with Roland Barthes' semiotic approach with the stages of formulating the background, problems, objectives, formulating research methods, collecting data, analysis, discussion and conclusions. The result of this research is the analysis of selected scenes from the Kecap ABC advertisement in edition Suami Sejati Hargai Istri that most supports the visual message of feminism and then analyzed with Roland Barthes' denotative, connotative and mythical meanings of semiotics. Dalam iklan ini tidak hanya mengandung tujuan apresiasi laki-laki pada perempuan di dapur tetapi juga menyampaikan pesan feminisme yang disampaikan secara visual dalam iklan-iklannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisa pesan-pesan visual feminisme dalam iklan Kecap ABC edisi Suami Sejati Hargai Istri menggunakan pemaknaan teori semiotika Roland Barthes. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kulitatif deskriptif pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes dengan tahapan merumuskan latar belakang, masalah, tujuan, merumuskan metode penelitian, mengumpulkan data, analisis, pembahasan hingga kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah analisis adegan-adegan terpilih dari iklan Kecap ABC edisi Suami Sejati Hargai Istri yang paling mendukung adanya pesan visual feminisme  lalu dianalisis dengan pemaknaan semiotika Roland Barthes denotatif, konotatif dan mitos. These past few years, Thailand’s entertainment industry has been increasing their production of Boys’ Love series and movies. The genre blew up in 2014, and until 2020, around 57 BL series had been produced and released. This has led to the phenomenon of the escalation of the number of Thai BL fans in Indonesia. The aim of this research was to find out how BL Ship’s fans or shippers perceive homosexuality. Perception is a meaning making activity of a sensory stimulus through gathering and interpreting process of information or message. To elaborate it, this research used the qualitative research method with case studies approach towards the members of BL ship Off Jumpol-Gun Atthaphan’s fans kingdom. Data was gathered by interview, observation, and documentation. To analyze it, researcher conducted Glaser and Strauss’s constant comparative method, and Mahpur’s coding steps. The results showed that shippers’ perception of homosexuality more or less got affected by what they consumed through media, such as BL series and ships. Along the way, their cultural background, religious views, personal experiences and values also influenced their views of the meaning of homosexuality. Researcher suggest that the professionals who are working in the industry of this genre to be mindful and take extra care since it’s going to affect the audience’s perception.Beberapa tahun terakhir, industri hiburan Thailand semakin gencar memproduksi drama serial dan film romantis bergenre Boys’ Love (BL). Sejak pertama kali meledak tahun 2014 hingga 2020, terdapat setidaknya 57 serial drama BL yang telah dibuat dan ditayangkan. Hal ini menyebabkan fenomena peningkatan penggemar pasangan Thai Boys’ Love (BL Ship) di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana persepsi penggemar BL Ship terhadap homoseksualitas. Persepsi merupakan kegiatan pemberian makna pada stimulus sensorik yang diperoleh melalui proses menyimpulkan dan menafsirkan informasi dan atau pesan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah anggota kelompok penggemar pasangan BL Off Jumpol-Gun Atthaphan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data yang telah terkumpul kemudian direduksi, dikategorisasi, disintesisasi, dan kemudian ditarik kesimpulannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat faktor personal dan situasional yang mempengaruhi persepsi individu terhadap homoseksualitas. Latar belakang budaya, kepercayaan secara religius, dan nilai-nilai dari sekitar maupun pribadi individu turut mengambil peran dalam proses pembentukan persepsi individu atas homoseksualitas. Penting bagi pegiat genre ini untuk memerhatikan apa yang diproduksi karena apa yang ditampilkan akan mempengaruhi persepsi yang diterpanya.
