From stable to table: Determination of German consumer perceptions of the role of multiple aspects of poultry production on meat quality and safety

Contamination with potentially pathogenic microorganisms may occur at all stages of the food chain. We conducted a representative cross-sectional survey of 1008 consumers aged 16 years and older in Germany via an online panel; the aim was to assess the perception of consumers regarding the influence of aspects of meat production on the safety and quality of meat. Over 70 % of the participants indicated that poultry fattening farms had a “high or very high” influence on meat safety, followed by cooks or meat preparers (66.3 %). Meat consumption was significantly associated with a high perception of the influence of cooks or meat preparers (p=0.025). The oldest participants were almost three times as likely to vote “high influence” and six times as likely to select “very high influence” (instead of “no or limited”) as the youngest participants (high influence: OR = 2.89, p = 0.016; very high influence: OR = 6.06, p < 0.001). Of all participants, 78.1 % believed organic farming had a positive influence on the safety of meat compared to conventional farming.  Participants over 60 years voted significantly more frequently than youngest participants (16-19 years) that organic farming had no influence (p=0.006; OR= 5.71) or positive influence (p= 0.007; OR 3.93) on meat safety. In addition, it could be shown that majority of consumer believe that irradiation of meat had a negative influence on the safety of meat. In conclusion, consumers were aware that many aspects were important for food safety and quality. The influence of organic farming compared to conventional farming as well as the influence of irradiation was often incorrectly assessed by consumers. Consumers seemed to need more information on sensitive issues such as the different types of farming or the effects of irradiation, to assess the impact of these aspects on the safety and quality of meat better.

This article presents the results of studying the impact of housing and feeding conditions on broiler chickens of Hubbard RedBro cross, as well as the quality of products obtained when using floor and cage content, in a farm. It established that when receiving a mixed feed of own production using feed raw materials grown on a farm without the use of pesticides, a statistically significant decrease in potentially dangerous substances for animal health is recorded. Compared with factory feed, it has reduced the content of pesticides by 14 times, and mercury and arsenic by 24 times, cadmium by five times, and lead by ten times. The results of the study of economic indicators of growing Hubbard RedBro cross broiler chickens, as well as the chemical composition and quality of carcasses, indicated that there was no significant difference between the floor and cell conditions of keeping. Still, the use of a diet based on eco-feeds contributed to a statistically significant decrease in the concentration of toxic metals in the muscles of the poultry of the experimental groups. As a result, it found that the use of the studied compound feed in the diets of broiler chickens increased the indicators of Biosafety and ensured the production of environmentally safe ("organic") poultry meat products.

While there is growing recognition of the positive role played by organic farming in the reduction of the negative externalities due to conventional agriculture, there is uncertainty about the effect of the latter on the economic performance of the farms. In this scenario, the present paper aims at investigating the effect of organic farming on technical efficiency in Italian olive farms. A cross-section dataset was analyzed through the stochastic frontier function, where the adoption of organic farming was explicitly modeled. Then, to obtain an unbiased estimate of the impact of organic farming on technical efficiency, a propensity score matching method was implemented. The findings reveal that organic farming increases technical efficiency in Italian olive farms by approximately 10%. The highest impact of organic farming is observed in small farms. As for the propensity to become organic, we found that the production and the direct sales of a higher quality of gross marketable output, as well as the intensity of labor and machines, increase the probability to adopt organic farming. Conversely, farm localization, the availability of family labor, and financial capital discourage conversion to the organic farming system.

South African psychologists have identified the improvement of quality of life as a major goal of the 1980s. This paper reviews the impact of satisfaction with personal aspects of life on perceived well-being. The results of an exploratory study of South African quality of life conducted among 5 587 individuals of all population groups are discussed. Findings confirm the salience of the personal domain and the positive influence of personal satisfactions on subjective well-being. However, results of regression analyses suggest that the relative contribution of satisfactions in the personal domain is too low to play a major role in improving the quality of life of all South Africans in the longer term.

The e-commerce business has now developed rapidly, the impact of development is that the number of prosuct varies and easily earned. The ease of such information will result in consumers will be more consumptive infulfilling their needs, even they tend to make impuse buying. As one of the emerest e-commerece in Indonesia, Lazada should be able to see this as a great opportunity in as effort to increase the company’s sales and sustainability. One effort in increasing impulse buying is of external factors ranging from the promotion and quality of websites that are launched on e-commerce bussines. This study aims to know and prove how much influence promotion and website quality to impulse buying e-commerce Lazada in Padang City. The samples were taken using Cochran formula with 100 respondents. This sampling technique is based on nonprobability sampling method. The type of data used in this study is primary data. Data analysis technique used multiple regression analysis technique using SPSS version 20. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Promotion has positive influence and significant effect toward impulse buying e-commerce Lazada in Padang city (0,014 < 0,05). (2) Website Quality has positive influence and significant effect toward impulse buying e-commerce Lazada in Padang city (0,046 < 0,05)Keyword: promotion, website quality, impulse buying.

The complexity of audit committee experience, including the overseas experience, has an important impact on corporate governance. In this paper, we study the impact of the overseas experiences of the members of audit committee on audit fees. Our empirical analysis and results show that the audit committee overseas experience can significantly increase audit fees. Further, the positive influence of the audit committee overseas experience on audit fees is more pronounced in state-owned enterprises and regions with weak marketization. In addition, we divide the overseas experience into overseas learning experience and overseas working experience. We find that both types of experience present in the audit committee significantly increase the audit fees. Finally, we find that the audit committee overseas experience can significantly improve the quality of accounting information and play a positive role in corporate governance.

The studies revealed that organizational change could create employee’s psychological uncertainty. However, this study argues that the quality of leader-member exchange enables to control the impact of the psychological uncertainty during the change toward employee’s attitude. This study represents job satisfaction and turnover intention as proxy of employee’s attitude for that matter. Based on social exchange theory, quality relationship of leader and employees affects on the relationship of psychological uncertainty and employee’s job satisfaction and turnover intention. This study selected private hospitals experiencing the changes of operational system for complying with national health security system. This study conducted cross-section survey for individual level-analysis. This study produces some findings. Firstly, the LMX has been failed to reduce the negative influence of psychological uncertainty towards employee’s job satisfaction, although the quality of the LMX was good. employee’s job satisfaction is more perceived as  personal afective state experienced during the organizational change. Secondly, the LMX has been successfully moderated the positive influence of the psychological uncertainty towards employee’s turnover intention.The data were collected by using questioners, distributed to the employees who worked in hospitals in Yogyakarta Province. There were 193 questioners that could be collected and analyzed by using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to test the hypothesis by using SPSS application version 21. The result of the study shows that psychological uncertainty had negative correlation to employee’s job satisfaction and positive influence to psychological uncertainty toward turnover intention. Besides, LMX was proven to moderate positive influence of psychological uncertainty toward turnover intention, but it could not moderate negative influence of psychological uncertainty toward job satisfaction.

Abstract Background Several studies have highlighted the difficulties faced by caregivers of patients with brain tumors. We created the educational workshops called AGAPE. Their aim is to explain precisely the medical aspects of brain tumors, describe resources available, and allow a moment of exchange between caregivers. Purpose To evaluate outcomes of AGAPE. Methods This was an observational uncontrolled pilot study. Feasibility was evaluated by the caregivers’ attendance of the 2 theoretical scheduled sessions and their satisfaction. Additional outcomes were the percentage of caregivers in favour of AGAPE sustainability and the impact on their quality of life according to CarGOQoL questionnaires (Caregiver Oncology Quality of Life) between baseline before the first workshop and after the last one. Results From February 2015 to March 2019, 12 three-month sessions were organized allowing 87 caregivers to participate. 84% of caregivers attended at least 2 theoretical sessions, the level of satisfaction was very high, and all caregivers were in favor of AGAPE sustainability. 36 caregivers submitted completed questionnaires at baseline and after the last workshop attended, separated by more than 2 months. The first workshop took place mostly during or after the adjuvant treatment of their loved ones. Two-thirds of their loved ones had a progressive disease after the first workshop and 21 died. Caregivers’ quality of life was stable between the first and last attended workshop. Conclusion Our study showed that AGAPE helped to maintain caregiver’s quality of life despite patient’s disease progression and its feasibility. Moreover, AGAPE may easily be run in other hospitals.

This study aims to examine the impact of specific dimensions of tourism impacts on Hong Kong residents’ satisfaction with the quality of life. While factor analysis is used to explore the attributes and dimensions of tourism impacts, multiple regression analysis is employed to determine the tourism impacts on residents’ satisfaction with the quality of life. It is evident from the results that two of the five dimensions of tourism impacts have positive influence on residents’ satisfaction. Image and infrastructure are found to be the important determinant factors in explaining the satisfaction. The impacts of environment, economy, and services in affecting satisfaction seem to be insignificant. In order to maintain tourism sustainability in Hong Kong, the local residents’ perception should be taken into consideration. Recommendations are provided to achieve mutual benefits and harmonious development.

This research aims at analyzing the impact of consumers' perceptions of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities on their trust toward the company and at highlighting the underlying mechanisms and conditions of this impact. This paper is based on a questionnaire survey administered to a sample of 618 consumers about cosmetics and sportswear. Results show that consumers' perceptions of CSR activities have a positive influence on their trust toward the company, directly and indirectly through the influence on perceived quality of the products offered and consumer satisfaction.

Customer loyalty to a destination and accommodation services constitutes a frequent object of research; however, customer loyalty to travel agencies is rarely analyzed. The presented article is an attempt to fill in this research gap. Its purpose is to construct and verify the model covering the impact of the selected factors on the loyalty level of customers of travel agencies operating in Poland. The conceptualization of the loyalty model of travel agency customers (based on the European path-based EPSI model) proposed in the article was first used to illustrate the existing correlations in customer behavior to analyze and explain the development of the loyalty phenomenon vis-a-vis travel agency customers. The aforementioned assumptions—having applied the structural equation modelling (SEM)—were reflected in the development of the theoretical model of travel agencies customer loyalty, the empirical verification of which (N = 1151) allowed us to determine the impacts of selected factors (i.e., the perceived quality of the travel agency’s offers, its image and the satisfaction with its service buyers) on the loyalty level of travel agency customers. It has been shown that two major factors have positive impacts on the loyalty of travel agency customers: (i) the perceived quality of travel agency offers, and (ii) its image. Furthermore, the conducted analysis highlights the positive influence of the perceived value of travel agency offers on the loyalty of customers.
