After the American elections of 2016, an upset occurred with the victory of Donald Trump as the president of United States of America. From day one, he was in lime light due to his controversial polices and extremist behaviour towards Muslims and other countries of the world. Similarly, he had a very odd behaviour towards European Union and its member countries or in other words it would be accurate to say that he wanted to demolish European Union. In current scenario, EU is facing multidimensional problems in the form refugee crisis from many parts of the world, Russian aggressive policies towards EU, ethnic movements in Europe, and above all critical elections in Italy, France and the Netherlands. Currently, it seems that the whole Europe is at stake and all these circumstances are leading EU towards a huge crisis. It seems that EU is facing the most difficult time period since its emergence. Critics are clearly indicating that EU could only survive with the active participation of France and Germany and that Europe needs serious changes by hearing the voice of the people and can gain its strength back by solving the major issues such as immigration problems and increased terrorism.

The Republic of Moldova yearns for the embrace of the European Union. But before this can happen, Moldova must first transform its legal institutions to approximate European standards. This article focuses on one of Moldova’s most powerful legal institutions, the Office of the Prosecutor General. It asks whether this office can be transformed from a militarized relic of the Soviet past to a modern prosecution service. Many daunting challenges will have to be overcome, including the spectre of political interference; an overly broad mandate; deep seated public mistrust; the corruption entrenched in Moldova’s legal institutions; and the absence of cross-sector justice reform initiatives.

Participation in electoral politics is not a fully voluntary act. Suffrage rules regulate who can participate, whereas institutional arrangements affect incentives to vote by shaping the consequences of the voting act. The secular increase of electoral participation in the world during the past two centuries was largely due to extensions of suffrage rather than to increased turnout of those eligible. The relation between voting and electing, as manifested in institutional arrangements, had a strong effect on individual decisions to vote. In the end, the voice of the people is inescapably structured by the ideas and the institutional frameworks that relate voting to electing.

I have no way of knowing whether it was fate that has pushed me onto this dais but as various lucky coincidences have created this opportunity I may as well call it fate. Putting aside discussion of the existence or non-existence of God. I would like to say that despite my being an atheist I have always shown reverence for the unknowable.A person cannot be God, certainly not replace God, and rule the world as a Superman; he will only succeed in creating more chaos and make a greater mess of the world. In the century after Nietzsche man-made disasters left the blackest records in the history of humankind. Supermen of all types called leader of the people, head of the nation and commander of the race did not baulk at resorting to various violent means in perpetrating crimes that in no way resemble the ravings of a very egotistic philosopher. However, I do not wish to waste this talk on literature by saying too much about politics and history, what I want to do is to use this opportunity to speak as one writer in the voice of an individual.

Due to social and economic changes in society, a person's ability to adapt to changing living conditions has diminished. If a person cannot adapt himself, the people around him, especially family members, suffer from this. These sufferings include such shortcomings as violence, trauma, sexual exploitation of children, etc. The study deals with temporary protection against domestic violence. The topic is relevant, since domestic violence is one of the main public health problems. Every year, a large number of people suffer from domestic violence throughout the world. Unfortunately in Latvia compared to other countries of the European Union, domestic violence is a very big problem. Not only women, but also children, the elderly, as well as men, suffer from domestic violence.

This chapter reflects on the development journey of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), which is dotted with actions and interventions that have gone beyond addressing local issues to setting precedence, engaging communities in ways hitherto unexplored, and helping evolve new perspectives of how the voice of the communities can find more scope and space in the development paradigm. At a personal level as well, there have been defining moments in the author's journey of development activism, institution building, leadership training, writing, and policy advocacy that have helped grow and evolve a worldview. Every one of those moments, the people behind them, and the accompanying reflections and realizations have taught the author more about the world and engagement with it in an ever-maturing manner. The chapter then delves into some handpicked milestones and explores how citizen engagement has rendered them meaningful and impactful while being an unending movement itself.

The author proves that Romania has changed very positively over the years of EU membership. There was the establishment of democratic institutions, despite the fact that it is a complex country with a post-communist past and a high level of corruption. Romanian civil society believed in the possibility of change for the better, but the latest developments regarding the dismissal of the head of the Anticorruption Directorate, changes to the law on the status of judges and prosecutors, the Romanian Code of Criminal Procedure may call into question previous achievements. This is indicated by thousands of demonstrations with protest calls against government actions that took place in the capital and in many cities. If the authorities ignore the "voice of the people", then it is unknown what to expect in the future. One of the scenarios is the destabilization of the situation in the country due to the radicalization of a society that is already beginning to manifest itself, and another – further disillusionment of the population and the return of the population to a state of hopelessness. Both options are not good for the public, and this is understood in Bucharest, Europe and the United States. Keywords: European Union, Romania, European integration
