According to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, the basis for the establishment of cooperatives in Indonesia, is intended to be one of the solid pillars of the nation's economy. Cooperatives have not played much role in reducing people's poverty and realizing food independence (Tjakrawerdjaja, 2019). The purpose of this study is to develop a measurement of the quality of the implementation of cooperative governance. Cooperative governance that is not based on the principle of good cooperative governance has the potential to have a negative impact on the health of cooperatives and the survival of cooperatives (Budiyono & Susilowati, 2017). The research method used in this study is qualitative research, which emphasizes analyzing and interpreting a problem (Afrizal, 2014). Participants in this study are those who have knowledge and experience about cooperatives. The population will spread across the scope of the cooperative, especially at the level of administrators, supervisors, and management. The process of analyzing research data is carried out inductively, namely data analysis is carried out simultaneously with data collection in a cyclical process (Nugrahani, 2014). The data analysis model that the author uses is the interactive analysis of Miles & Huberman. In order to collect data from information sources or informants, researchers need assistance instruments that are used semi-structured interview guidelines. The next stage of this research is to conduct content analysis. The main purpose of content analysis is to support answers to research questions, namely the extent to which cooperative governance is implemented. Content analysis is carried out on the Accountability Report of the Cooperative Management and Supervisory Board. The results of this study indicate that the Development of Quality Measurement of Cooperative Governance Implementation, produces 15 (fifteen) dimensions and 97 (ninety-seven) indicators. The level of implementation of the development of measurement of the quality of the implementation of cooperative governance in the two samples of cooperatives obtained the findings: (a) BPK RI Cooperatives received the predicate "not good"; (b) KSP SMS implementation level gets the predicate “Good”.

[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT AUTHOR'S REQUEST.] In order to better understand the long-term behavior of farmer-owned economic organizations, the cooperative life cycle model is advanced and improved via the application of economic theory to each of its five phases. Specifically, transaction cost theory, property rights theory, and agency theory help explain the birth-to-death trajectory of farmer cooperatives, which tinker and reinvent to remain optimal in the competitive market. Tinkering is the adaptation of constitutional rights, policies, and procedures to adjust member objectives, and reinventing is defined as the adaptation of organizational scope or purpose to adjust cooperative actions. As such, tinkering and reinventing are two processes to maintain the long-term cooperative equilibrium. Another aspect of importance to the economic viability of farmer cooperatives is governance, which involves all the mechanisms to manage the separation of control and ownership. Cooperative governance is often assumed to be identical to corporate governance, yet differences in structures and objectives suggest otherwise. Secondary data analysis is conducted to descriptively inform the difference in governance and performance for two samples of agri-food firms and cooperatives. Demographically, all financial characteristics as well as most board and management characteristics are observed to be significantly different for the two samples. According to the main result of the empirical analysis, the causal impact of board size, female directorship, director independence, and director equity ownership on financial performance is also significantly different, which implies cooperative governance is not identical to corporate governance. As compared to the firm, the overall structure of farmer cooperatives is often analyzed in isolation. There exist typologies of the ownership structure, the governance structure, as well as the capital structure. However, the interrelationship is underexplored. To address the gap in the literature, a three-dimensional framework is informed by agency theory, finance theory, and cooperative theory. The three dimensions are member ownership diversity, member control delegation, and financial flexibility, for which a positive linear relationship is hypothesized. Primary survey data is collected for the full population of U.S. farmer cooperative to test hypotheses of the framework. Based on 371 survey responses, a relatively wide tunnel of cooperative life is observed in which low ownership diversity and low member control delegation do not correspond to high financial flexibility. Further, empirical data analysis indicates the relationship of ownership and capital is independent, while the relationship of ownership and governance is bi-directional.

AbstractDaily routine on Sunday is changing. Formerly a day of religious contemplation, Sunday seems to be a day of rest within the family. Does this change in activities done on a typical Sunday imply an end of spiritual quality? To answer this question this paper conceptualizes spirituality as experience of connectedness to some greater reality which is regarded as important and meaningful. Four options are possible concerning this greater reality: a transcendent reality, nature or cosmos, mankind, or the individual’s self. The data has been collected by semi-structured interview and analyzed by qualitative content analysis. 148 individuals did take part in these interviews (57% females, age range: 7 to 59; 64% Catholics and 22% Protestants). The findings point at Sunday spent with family. Further on we could identify activities representing all four types of spirituality. Together these examples point at the conclusion that Sunday still is a special day within the week. Its activities offer spiritual quality, but it is the individual to reassure it.

The purpose of this study was to examine the status of secondary school Turkish education in distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic period in Turkey according to the opinions and observations of Turkish teachers. The fact that there are no studies examining the use of distance education in secondary school native language teaching constitutes the reason for the research. The research was carried out by the case study, one of the qualitative research designs. The participants of the study group in the first phase were 30 secondary school Turkish teachers, who worked in various schools in Turkey and taught online distance education courses in the spring semester of 2019-2020. The participants of the second phase of the study were 16 Turkish teachers who meet the above criteria. A semi-structured interview was held with the first group, while participants of the second group prepared observation reports on their live courses. The data collection tools of the research consist of a semi-structured interview form and a course observation form. Data collection tools were transformed into online forms and delivered online to the study group. The data of the research was collected over a period of one month and the document analysis technique was used to collect the data. The research data were analyzed using the content analysis method. The categorical analysis, one of the types of content analysis, was used in the study. The data analysis was performed with MAXQDA 2020 qualitative data analysis package program. Visualizations were made with the program used. For data analysis reliability, direct transfer statements were given from the codes where the opinions were concentrated. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the teachers faced with negativities intensely and they could not teach Turkish properly with distance education.

Based on the analysis of the mechanism of dissociation of calcium hydroxide in lime-sugar solutions and reactions of lime-sugar compounds at the stages of preliminary progressive and basic defecation, the effect of the return of calcium carbonate in the form of a suspension of carbonation sediment during preliminary defection on the quality of purified juice is justified. The established theoretical positions are confirmed by a series of experiments. The effect of returns on reducing the degree of destruction of the sediment of pre-defected juice with a purity of 88,7% with an increase in alkalinity was studied. For three samples of diffusion juice, progressive preliminary defection, defecation with the same lime consumption and under the same technological conditions (temperature and duration) were carried out. For the 1st sample preliminary defecation conducted only with milk of lime, no refunds suspensions carbonation sediments. For the 2nd sample, along with lime milk, a 20% suspension of sediment of the first saturation juice was added in an amount of 50% to the juice mass. For the 3rd sample, preliminary defection was carried out with lime milk with the return of a 20% suspension of sediment the juice of the second saturation containing 7% of the solid fraction. It is established that in all samples by the addition of lime after preliminary defecation in sugar solutions the content of soluble calcium salts increases. To confirm the effect of high alkalinity during defecation on the destruction of part of the sediment formed on the preliminary defection studies in the factory laboratory on production juices were carried out. The preliminary defected juice was divided into two samples. For the 1st sample the sediment was separated by settling to the basic defecation, in the 2nd sample the juice was subjected to defecation without sediment separation. Both samples were treated with lime in an amount of 2,0% CaO to the juice mass for 20 min at a temperature of 50–52°C. It was found that in the absence of sediment of the preliminary defected juice, the increase of calcium salts in the defected juice is much less than in its presence. It is proved that in lime-carbon dioxide purification to increase the positive effect of a double-charged calcium ion and reduce the negative impact of a single-charge hydroxycalcium ion, it is advisable to carry out preliminary defecation with a smooth increase in alkalinity and at a final pH value in the range from 10,8 to 11,2 to exclude the accumulation of soluble calcium salts; to return the suspension of the saturation sediment of juice the second to reduce the content of soluble salts in sugar solutions due to a stronger bond of non-sugars in the sediment particles and prevent their destruction at high alkalinity.

Background There are no published studies evaluating the impact of introduction of television on disordered eating in media-naïve populations. Aims To assess the impact of novel, prolonged exposure to television on disordered eating attitudes and behaviours among ethnic Fijian adolescent girls. Method A prospective, multi-wave cross-sectional design was used to compare two samples of Fijian schoolgirls before and after prolonged regional television exposure with a modified 26-item eating attitudes test, supplemented with a semi-structured interview to confirm self-reported symptoms. Narrative data from a subset of respondents from the exposed sample were analysed for content relating television exposure to body image concerns. Results Key indicators of disordered eating were significantly more prevalent following exposure. Narrative data revealed subjects' interest in weight loss as a means of modelling themselves after television characters. Conclusions This naturalistic experiment suggests a negative impact of television upon disordered eating attitudes and behaviours in a media-naïve population.
