One of the most crucial aspects of the business environment is interaction with the government. Government entities have more chances to gain their gratifying targets for secular growth, monumental work, and sustainable development. We are trying to determine whether political connections are valuable for green corporate finance and corporate performance. Based on the prior literature, political ties have better sustainable development priorities and financial performance than non-politically connected firms. It is because they have sufficient resources to protect the natural environment, which eventually enhances financial performance. Our findings corroborate with the stewardship theory that states the empowered board is a better decision-maker. Our study has considerable implications for the research as it will enhance the knowledge about political ties.

Purpose This paper aims to provide a proper understanding of corruption in the private sector, also known as the supply-side of corruption. It also presents the causes of corrupt practices and points out the corporations’ actions to mitigate corrupt behaviour in the business environment. Design/methodology/approach This study reviews the prior literature on the phenomenon of corruption in the private sector, its causes and the preventive measures that should be implemented. Findings Corruption in the private sector was associated with a firm’s interaction with the public sector, and the most common corruption in the private sector is grand corruption, which is improper contribution made to high-level public officials and politicians. The causes of corruption in the private sector can be explained from several dimensions: economy, psychosocial and legal and regulation. Preventative measures encompass both internal strategies, which are endogenous to business and external strategies like exogenous legislation and restrictions enforced by the government or outside organizations. Originality/value The efficient strategies in combating corruption need active cooperation and participation from the supply-side of corruption. Thus, this study contributes to the literature on the theoretical understanding of the corruption problem from the supply-side and responsibility play by the private sector in global anti-corruption initiatives.

The development of green finance is a global trend in the current era. At present, developing the green finance has been included as an important national development project by the Chinese government. With the rapid economic growth, the priorities or trade-offs between the economic development and the natural environment have also aroused different contradictions and problems. With the improvement of people's quality of life, they start to pay more attention to the pollution of the surrounding environment. Therefore, the government should properly intervene and propose effective measures, and green finance is an excellent tool to reconcile social economy and environmental protection and transform the physical investment, thus guiding the social resources towards the environmental protection industry and reaching an optimal interests allocation among the market, society, and government. Consequently, in the face of such a situation, it is necessary to propose a series of models and paths that suit the needs of the Chinese society and promote sustainable development.

Green finance is an important guarantee to promote the development and structural transformation of green industries in China and is also the power source to implement the concept of green development during the "13th Five-Year Plan". The development of green finance is inseparable from the support of financial and taxation policies. Based on this background, there is a certain connection between green finance and corporate values. When companies strengthen their political relations, there will be certain positive and negative effects on the company's future development. Green development should be the goal, and the financial and tax performance of companies should be enhanced in strengthening the development of green finance. The most important thing for companies, regardless of the industry, is to interact with the government to improve their development goals and performance, maintain their rights and interests through political relations and policies, and obtain government support to achieve sustainable development of the company. Therefore, this study focuses on the political relationship between green finance development and financial performance and examines the intervention of political ties on corporate green investment and corporate performance. The results confirm that politically connected companies have more resources and protect the natural environment while improving their financial performance.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine and explain the complex interrelationships which influence the performance of politically connected firms to create value for their providers of finance and other stakeholders. In doing so, it examines the interrelationships between efficiency and delivering on corporate performance of a firm with political ties.Design/methodology/approachThe authors gathered the literature from the Scopus website. They reviewed the literature of 58 manuscripts about the efficiency and performance of politically connected firms.FindingsThe research finds that the better quality of efficiency of politically connected firms is positively related to the corporate performance of politically connected firms. The authors’ theoretical findings corroborate the political theory, agency theory, stakeholder theory, resource dependency theory and stewardship theory. These theories prove that political connections have an impact on firm performance as a politician reinforces the efficacy. To better understand the effect of political connections on solid performance due to efficiency, this study classifies various efficiencies and links them with political ties.Research limitations/implicationsSeveral avenues of research are suggested to examine further the interrelationships identified.Practical implicationsThe authors’ conceptual findings are valuable for institutional investors, policymakers and stakeholders. To sum up, all theoretical shreds of evidence prove that politically connected firms can enhance performance via efficiency.Originality/valueThe paper conceptualizes the efficiency and performance interrelationships of politically connected firms. The extant literature comparison allows an assessment of the extent to which different efficiency contexts lead to differences in performance.

People in China are paying more attention to environmental issues as they increase in importance and consequence. At the same time, the Chinese government has gradually begun paying more attention to the environment, advocating sustainable development. The government has been actively developing green financial products such as green loans, green insurance, green funds, and other financial products to help Chinese companies “go green” and reach peak carbon and carbon-neutral goals ahead of schedule. China attaches great importance to its “green transformation” goals, as can be seen from the number of new policies related to green and sustainable development. Under these circumstances, companies must follow the policy and carry out green upgrades or risk total failure. This chapter mainly discusses the background of what firms face in China's green finance environment, taking clean energy, green buildings, and green transportation as examples of how companies should adapt to these trends and improve their competitiveness.

Abstract This study examined companies from two different groups of countries in Central and Eastern Europe and their partnerships with the Government for the development of four types of innovation (product, process, organizational, and marketing). The research included ex-soviet republics (Eu members and non-members), and observed how each type of innovation affects the firms’ financial performance. A sample of 1,143 manufacturing SMEs from the Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Survey (BEEPS) were tested using multiple regression and logit. Based on the absorptive capacity theory, the results show that manufacturing SMEs from EU-member countries have a higher absorptive capacity and take advantage of the EU’s innovation promotion programs to innovate. On the other hand, the SMEs from non EU-member states perceive a quicker effect of the innovations in financial performance, considering that there is a technological gap between the two groups (non EU-members are less developed). Also, the introduction of different types of innovations simultaneously boosts the performance of firms from non EU-member countries in the short run.

In recent era our country is more focusing on economic development without considering the environmental changes and sustainable development. Recently entire world suffering from environmental pollution and pandemic, climatic changes. It is the late time to focusing on coping with climate changes, reduce the environmental pollution and creating pleasant co-existence between people and nature to have a sustainable development of the global economy and society. The term green finance consist of the words “Green” and “Finance” both of which are controversial issues. Green finance is the innovative financial pattern adopted by the country to integrate environmental protection with economic development and profit. In this study the researcher’s focusing on the recent trends, opportunities, challenges, various investments avenues of Green Finance in India and to analyze in the path of green Finance and to know the target achieved till date from the initiative taken by the Indian Government of India. The National Government can support the cities by increasing the funding which suites the energy saving and also locally administrated. The Government can be finally sound and innovative programmes and also environmentally good in the Practice of Purchasing the green procurement. But also the climate sources of energy plays a vital role. From the analysis it is clear that India has to focus more on the green finance and have to contribute more to infrastructure funding to attain the sustainable development goal.

Green finance plays a pivotal role in achieving inclusive, resilient and cleaner economic growth by creating environmental benefits. It helps in increasing the flow of finance from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to sustainable development priorities. Recognising the significance of green finance, UN Environment has been working in the alignment of the financial system of the countries to channelize the financial flows for attaining 2030 sustainable development goals. To build economic development in a sustainable manner, India also needs a national green finance strategy. It requires green infrastructure funding of about $4.5 trillion by 2040. The contribution made by both public and private sector organisations/banks will play a crucial role in green financing. The present study therefore mainly explores the various green financing initiatives taken by the public and private sector organisations/banks in India. The study showcases the various challenges in the area of green financing in India and also recommends measures to face those challenges. The study is descriptive in nature and is based on secondary data taken from various government reports published by the Government of India and other published reports of public and private sector organisations and banks in India.

This article examines the issues and problems of ecology and climate change that concern an increasing number of people. In Russia, in particular, the attention of Russian companies and the government to the problem is increasing. Green finance is a tool that allows for a carbon transition to a green economy, providing extra-budgetary sources of funding for projects that provide this transition. To facilitate the transition of business to the principles of sustainable development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has supplemented the compensation program for green bonds with green loans, and banks are developing new mechanisms to provide companies with a clear tool for cofinancing environmental projects.
