The present paper deals with innovative approaches to teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in the field of interdisciplinarity. The paper starts with the novelty and topicality of the issue in question. It makes an attempt to eliminate a contradiction now apparent in Ukrainian education regarding the theoretical foundations and practical application of the basic ESP principles in vocational schools and universities. The authors explore the concept of interdisciplinarity and its didactic potential when applied to the ESP teaching process. It is stated that the interdisciplinary approach is able to provide new and exciting possibilities when it stimulates the learners’ interest in foreign languages both in and outside of an educational environment. The paper introduces a new methodological option in the ESP educational process – an interdisciplinary bilingual project. As it dares to be an innovative type of group project, some theoretical considerations are necessarily discussed. Its basic categories, implementation objectives, interdisciplinary characteristics are identified. The paper justifies the didactic appropriateness of the project in question and its interdisciplinary practicality.

The article highlights exploiting modeling in the interdisciplinary educational process at a modern technical university in Ukraine. The focus of the study is to consider the interdisciplinary approach to modeling in teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to develop technical students' strategic competence as the cognitive ability to intervene in solving various problems. The methodology involves the complex of complementary methods: analysis of psychological and pedagogical sources on the issue under study; the observation of the educational process, and monographic practice (interpreting the results obtained in a coherent, logical perspective); generalization and systematization of the collaboration between the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and the Faculty of Linguistics of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (after this officially abbreviated name – Igor Sikorsky KPI) on implementing the model of interdisciplinary interaction to develop students' strategic competence through producing secondary sci-tech texts in the course of preparing their qualifying papers. The suggested interdisciplinary model covers three stages of realization: initial stage (activates knowledge in the subject area transferred to the foreign language environment), cognitive-communicative stage (activates the cognitive processes to develop the levels of thinking within the framework of Bloom's taxonomy), and communicative-productive stage (develops communicative strategies for writing abstracts of patent documents in English).

The relevance of the work is due to changes in the understanding of the goals of education, according to which learning should not be limited to the communication of knowledge, but should develop the necessary competencies in the field of independent cognitive activity and reveal the creative potential of students. In this work silence is considered as having a dialogical nature not expressed in a sign form a communicatively significant process of cognition of the studied object, which allows the student to overcome language and psychological barriers, to engage in independent work to develop the meaning and content of education, and, in the end, create your own educational product. In accordance with this the essence and content of the method of pedagogical silence are revealed, and also the author's typology of silence is given. On the example of a fragment of a lesson on the discipline "Russian as a foreign language" the features of the use of the method of pedagogical silence in teaching foreign languages are shown. The research materials can be used in organizing the educational process for the study of foreign languages, for methodological work in an educational institution, as well as in self-educational pedagogical activity.

The article analyzes modern methods of teaching a foreign language and justifies the expediency of their use in technical institutions of higher education. The process of teaching English in non-linguistic higher educational institutions has certain features related to the different initial level of language training of first-year students; the number of academic hours allocated to the study of this discipline; the quantitative composition of groups; low motivation to learn a foreign language. It is noted that motivation plays an important role in the educational process, the formation of which among students of technical universities should be one of the main tasks of the educational process. It is established that it is possible to significantly increase the effectiveness of the lesson provided that the content of the discipline "foreign language" is professionally oriented in technical universities. It is found that the use of interactive learning technologies involves the use of communicative, in particular cognitive-communicative, and constructivist methods of teaching a foreign language. It is proved that the use of innovative approaches to teaching English and multimedia teaching tools allows students to increase motivation to learn foreign languages, provide access to new, alternative sources of information, develop independent mental activity, form communication skills, cultural and professional competence.

The aim of our work was to highlight the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in the study of pediatric surgical dentistry. The introduction of the Standard of Higher Education in Specialty 221 “Dentistry” Field of Knowledge 22 “Health Care” for the second (master’s) level of higher education has allowed us to revise and improve a number of provisions regarding the study of pediatric surgical dentistry. First of all, the updated educational-professional program 221- “Dentistry” outlines the list of competencies and learning outcomes in the discipline “Pediatric Surgical Dentistry” and clearly defines the prerequisites on which the study of pediatric surgical dentistry is based. In the study of pediatric surgical dentistry, namely issues related to inflammatory processes of the maxillofacial area, attention should be paid to the etiology and pathogenesis of acute and chronic inflammatory odontogenic processes directly in the age aspect. At the same time, it is important to emphasize the need for preventive dental measures, timely therapeutic intervention, especially during the eruption of permanent teeth and urgent radical treatment to prevent complications. In addition, an important component in the study of this topic are issues related to the age of the formation of organs and systems of the child, the tendency to hyperergic reactions and generalization of the inflammatory process, the factor of minimal anti-inflammatory potential. The presented methodological approach in terms of practical application of interdisciplinary links in the study of pediatric surgical dentistry, according to our observations allowed to increase the level of knowledge within the professional competence of students with a score of “5” from 20% in IV year to 68% V year. Thus, the list of components of the educational process analyzed in this paper creates a promising direction for further improvement of teaching methods at the Department of Pediatric Surgical Dentistry.

The practical importance is seen directly in applying the results in the educational process, namely in its organization, the choice of methods of teaching English and Spanish. The main author’s conclusions are as follows: 1) the issue of teaching and learning foreign languages other than English is not sufficiently covered in the methodology as English is taught mostly; 2) considering that the number of people who speak English is growing, there is a demand for other international languages, in particular, Spanish; 3) English and Spanish have common features, but significantly more differences in phonetics, vocabulary and grammar; 4) such differences affect not only the course of a particular lesson, but the organization of the course of study as a whole.
