This study was concerned with an evaluation of holography in training and for job aids. Experimentation comparing holograms, line drawings, and photographs as methods of presenting visual information is reported. It appears that with the tasks used, holograms generally are as good as or better visual aids than either photographs or line drawings. The use of holograms tends to reduce errors rather than speed assembly time in assembly tasks. They also seem to enhance the discovery of errors when the subject is attempting to locate assembly errors in a construction. The results of this experimentation suggest that serious consideration should be given to the use of holography in the development of job aids and in training. Applications in technical documentation and storage relevant to the use of holograms as job aids are also considered.

Academically rigorous yet welcoming and fully attuned to the needs of the student reader, Land Law represents a new breed of textbook, blending traditional and contemporary teaching approaches to guide its readers to a confident understanding of the subject. With a lively, engaging writing style and distinctive way of speaking directly to students, anticipating questions and areas of confusion, Bevan’s book does not simply set out the law but actively teaches it. Clear explanations are complemented by frequent, carefully-crafted visual aids and topics are broken down into sections that are easy to digest and navigate. “Key case” boxes offer concise insights on leading cases, spurring further reading of primary material, and “Future directions” conclusions for each chapter consider future implications and likely reforms. Balancing brevity with detail and rigour with accessibility, Land Law is a truly modern textbook that supports and motivates its readers, helping them to understand and enjoy what can be a complex subject.

Euler, perceiving that the relative pitches of all musical notes might be represented by 2“. 3”. 5P, formed different “genera musica” by allowing n and p to vary from 0 to fixed limits. His “genus diatonicum hodiernum” ( op. cit . p, 135) limits into 3 and p to 2, and consists of 12 tones. These tones and 12 others are contained in his “genus cujus exponens est 2 m . 3 7 . 5 2 ,” that is, which limits n to 7 and p to 2. He has further ( ib . p. 161) given a scheme in which each manual of an instrument should represent two sounds, the primary belonging to the first 12 tones, and the secondary to the additional 12. He says ( ib . p. 162), “ Soni secundarii summo rigore ab iisdem clavibus edi nequeunt, quia vero tarn parum a primariis discrepant, ad eos exprimendos hse claves sine sensibili harmonics jactura tuto adhiberi possunt. Nam etiamsi ab bus comma seu diaschisma, quibus mtervallis soni secundarii a primariis differunt, distingui queat, tamen quia soni secundarii cum primariis nequein eademconsonantia neque in duavum consonantiarum successione misceri possunt , error etiam ab acutissimo auditu percipi non potent.” It will i appear in the sequel that these assertions, when tested by experiments on instruments with fixed tones, are all incorrect. The musical’scale has formed the subject of many recent investigations*; but I have been unable to find a complete account of the necessary conditions to be fulfilled by a perfect scale, the least number of fixed tones required, and the practical means of producing them uncurtailed without inconvenience to the performer, although instruments which produce a limited number of just tones have been practically used by Gen. Perronet Thompson, Mr. Poole, Prof. Helmholtz, Prof. Wheatstone, myself, and others. This is therefore the subject of the present paper.

Summary Physical education has been the subject of research for a long time. Research focuses most often on the use of time to get pupils to move actively or on their physical load during a lesson. The evaluation of the didactic interaction of the teaching student - pupil(s) is also an essential area of research. The aim of the paper is to introduce the MADI method and its subsequent use in the evaluation of didactic outputs of teaching students in subjects focused on the didactics of swimming. The method Analysis of Didactic Interaction (ADI) has been modified to assess didactic interactions between the teaching (student) - pupil(s). Modified Analysis of Didactic Interaction (MADI) was created by reducing the number of monitored categories and focusing attention on the activity of the student. The achieved results showed that the most frequent form of behaviour among the students was observation followed by instruction. This influenced both the form of their manifestations, dominated by silence, and the overall manifestation, which was neutral and mostly without material significance. In terms of activities that have been the subject of didactic interaction, students have been taught these activities. The results obtained show that the chosen method seems to be effective for evaluation of didactic output of teaching students. A deeper analysis of student didactic outcomes can contribute to influencing the quality of student didactic competencies. At the same time, it can also serve as a feedback tool on their didactic activities for their faculty teachers.
