The present study was an attempt to examine influence of leadership styles upon professional motivation of lecturers (PE). The population of this current research comprised of the Lecturers (PE) performing in all government public colleges in Punjab. No sampling technique was preferred due to the accessible population in a particular study. Two self-designed, Likert type scales (the leadership style and professional motivation) were used for collecting of the required data. Overall, 80% return response rate was recorded. The collected data were tabulated and analyzed using both the descriptive and inferential statistics. The formulated hypotheses were tested with a significant level of 0.5. The study results from regression show significant influence of leadership styles on the professional motivation of lecturers. Similarly, prediction of professional motivation through the leadership styles over stepwise regression also provides the information about the dominant role of the transformational leadership style as compared to other leadership styles.

This study investigated the leadership styles of principals in public Colleges of Education (CoEs) in Ghana based on the setting, zone and location of the colleges. The quantitative method of the cross-sectional survey design was adopted for the study. The census sampling technique was employed to obtain 38 principals for the study. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) by Bass and Avolio (2004) was adapted to collect data from the principals. Means, standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA were utilised in analysing the data. The descriptive analysis established that generally, principals of public CoEs in Ghana mostly used transformational leadership style as compared to transactional and laissez-faire leadership styles. The inferential analyses also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the leadership styles of the principals based on setting, zone and location of the colleges. Among the recommendations is that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), formerly known as the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), should consider competence when selecting and appointing principals and not the setting, zone and location of public CoEs because generally, these variables did not statistically significantly determine the leadership styles adopted by the principals.

Although the strategic plan designed in the most effective frame; the role of the leader cannot and should not be ignored. In this sense, the leadership style of the leader/manager has an important effect. The purpose of this study is to measure the perception of both academic and administrative personnel, about the strategic planning in their institution and their perception about the role of the leader in the process of strategic planning. In the frame of the research, academic and administrative personnel of state universities in the city of Bursa, Turkey, are taken as population. A survey that consists of demographical questions and two scales, measuring Leadership Styles Perception and Strategic Planning Perception, are applied. The surveys are analyzed by using SPSS 20.0 package program. According to the results, Transformational Leadership Style has an increasing effect on Strategic Productivity. There is also a statistically significant effect of Autocratic and Transformational Leadership Styles on Strategic Effectiveness. On the other hand, there is not a statistically significant relationship between Democratic Leadership and Strategic Effectiveness. While Autocratic Style causes a decrease in Strategic Effectiveness, Transformational Leadership Style has an increasing effect on Strategic Effectiveness. In addition to this, there is a statistically significant effect of Autocratic and Transformational Leadership Styles on Strategic Effectiveness.

Hospital managers and chief physicians, but also doctors and nurses, in an effort to face  constant changes, are involved in innovation. This study examines if transformational leadership style is related to adoption of employees’ suggestions, and if personal initiative and job control moderate this relationship. Nurses, doctors, and auxiliary and technical collaborators (n = 137), of an Italian public hospital, participated in this study. Results show that transformational leadership was correlated to innovation adoption but, when examined moderators were included in the analysis, the relation was no more significant. Personal initiative and job control did not moderate the relationship between transformational leadership and innovation adoption but they do have a significant direct effect on innovation adoption. Findings suggest that innovation in hospitals is more related to personal variables, like personal initiative and job control, rather than to transformational leadership.

Availability of bank financing has been a matter of serious concern for start-up enterprises. Various reasons for non-availability of bank financing by these entities have been studied in the past; however, the role of bankers’ leadership styles has not been explored well. Although leadership in the banking sector is well researched, studies on influence of leadership styles in decisions made by bankers on providing loans to start-up entrepreneurs are non-existent. Therefore, the objective of this study is to find out if three leadership styles — i.e. transformational, transactional and laissez-faire — influence bankers while they make a decision on providing a loan to a start-up entrepreneur. The findings of this paper indicate that, out of three leadership styles, transformational leadership style has a significant influence on decisions made by bankers on loans to start-up entrepreneurs while transactional and laissez-faire leadership styles did not have a significant influence on bankers.
