The purpose of the present study is to examine the effectiveness of positive-thinking skills on reduction of academic burnout, mental health and self-efficacy of undergraduate study of BSSS College, Bhopal. Among the undergraduate students of BSSS College, two classes were selected through cluster sampling and by administering self-reported Questionnaire on 40 students who are divided into two groups as experimental and control groups (each group consists of 20 students). Positive-thinking teaching was executed for the experimental group for ten sessions, and the control group was on the expectation list. Data were analysed using analysis of descriptive statistics like mean and standard deviation. Findings indicate that teaching positive-thinking has been effective in the reduction of academic burnout, mental health and self-efficacy.

Background: Service-learning has been used in adapted physical activity and education (APA/E) courses in kinesiology. However, evidence has been lacking to clarify the need for utilizing service-learning in APA/E courses as an avenue to change attitudes of students. Purpose: This study aimed to compare two APA/E courses, one with service-learning and another without, to examine the effect of hands-on experiences working with individuals with disabilities on the attitudes of kinesiology undergraduate students. Methodology/Approach: Seventy-six undergraduate students enrolled in two APA/E courses were divided into the experimental ( n = 28) and control group ( n = 48). Only the experimental group had service-learning, which required working with children with autism in a physical activity program for 8 weeks. Both groups completed a self-efficacy measure and the Multidimensional Attitudes Scale Toward Persons With Disabilities (MAS) questionnaire at pre- and posttest. Findings/Conclusions: The results showed a significant positive change in the experimental group’s affect subset scores of the MAS and the self-efficacy measure. No significant changes in all variables were found in the control group. Implications: The findings of the study indicate that including a service-learning component in APA/E courses would be essential to change attitudes and increase self-efficacy of kinesiology students.

In the era of digitalization and informatization of the world community blended learning is becoming more and more prominent in improving professional training of students in various specialties as it enables to provide efficient learning, achieve learning goals and, what is more, to build their confidence. The aim of the research is to investigate the influence of blended learning incorporated into the professional training of students doing a BA degree in Teaching English as a Second Language on the increase of their general self-efficacy. To establish the relationship between the students’ general self-efficacy and blended learning we used a questionnaire. 133 students were selected to take part in a quantitative study which was conducted at three Ukrainian universities in 2019/2020 academic year. A non-random sampling technique basing on the fact that all 133 respondents studied the same disciplines was used to select the research sample. All the respondents were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was represented by 65 undergraduate students and the control group was represented by 68 undergraduate students. The disciplines selected for training all the respondents in the experimental and control groups were “Contrastive Grammar of the English and Ukrainian languages”, “Practical Grammar of the English Language”, “The Practical Course of the English Language”. The experimental group was to be taught through incorporating blended learning courses on the selected disciplines using the Moodle platform and the control group was to be taught through providing a face-to-face instruction on the selected disciplines. To draw firm conclusions we used methods of mathematical statistics and computer data processing. Obtained results revealed a positive and significant relationship between the incorporation of blended learning into the professional training of students doing a BA degree in Teaching English as a Second language and the increase in their levels of general self-efficacy.

<p>Family plays a key role in the prevention and intervention of drug abuse among children and teenagers. Information about drugs provides parents with the exact knowledge on how to demonstrate attitudes and healthy behaviours. Therefore, the present study tried to investigate the effect of preventive and interventional trainings on self-efficacy and attitudes of mothers covered by mental health facilitators (MHFs) in this regard. This interventional<strong> </strong>study used case and control groups/pretest-posttest design. Based on the inclusion criteria, randomized sampling, and sample size formulation, 150 qualified mothers were recruited<strong>.</strong> Eligible participants were randomly divided into two intervention and control groups. A researcher-designed and self-administered questionnaire was used to gather the required data. Six instructive, communicative oral sessions and individual interviews were held by the facilitators for case group members. After two months, attitudes and self-efficacy of the mothers toward drug abuse issues were measured again by the same questionnaire. The results showed that the difference in intervention and control group was significant in terms of increasing self-efficacy and modifying attitudes (p&lt;0.001). Furthermore, the case group members reported less misconceptions, stigma, and ignorance toward those suffering from addiction. <strong></strong></p>

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a group psychosocial intervention for children (aged 12–18) of a parent with mental illness (copmi). Method: A treatment and waitlist-control design study with pre- and post-treatment, and 8 week follow up, was carried out. The treatment (n = 27) and control (n=17) groups were compared on three groups of dependent variables: intervention targets (mental health literacy, connectedness, coping strategies), adjustment (depression, life satisfaction, prosocial behaviour, emotional/behavioural difficulties), and caregiving experiences. Results: Group comparisons failed to show statistically significant intervention effects, but reliable clinical change analyses suggested that compared to the control group, more intervention participants had clinically significant improvements in mental health literacy, depression, and life satisfaction. These treatment gains were maintained 8 weeks after treatment. Participant satisfaction data supported these treatment gains. Conclusions: Given study limitations and the modest support for intervention effectiveness it is important that this and other similar interventions should continue to be revised and undergo rigorous evaluation.

Abstract Background Considering the prevalence of infertility in the community and the consequences of failure of infertility treatments on women’s mental health, interventions that can control stress, anxiety and depression in infertile women with a history of IVF failure will be very helpful. This study aimed to determine the effects of hope-oriented group counseling on mental health (primary outcome) and quality of life (QoL) (secondary outcome) of women with failed IVF cycles. Method This randomized controlled trial was conducted on 60 women with failed IVF cycles visiting Infertility Clinic at Al-Zahra Teaching Hospital of Tabriz- Iran. Participants were allocated to the intervention group (n = 30) and control group (n = 30) based on a randomized block design. Hope-oriented group counseling was provided to the intervention group in six 45–60 min sessions (once a week). The control group only received routine care to undergo another IVF cycle. The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) and the SF-12 Quality of Life Scale were filled out by interviewing the participants before the intervention and one week and one month after the intervention. After intervention 26 participants in each group were included in the analysis. Results There was no significant difference between the intervention and control groups in the socio-demographic profile of participants (P > 0.05). The post-intervention mean score of stress (adjusted mean difference = − 1.7, 95% confidence interval: − 3.2 to − 0.3, P = 0.018) and depression (adjusted mean difference = − 1.3, 95% confidence interval: − 4.7 to − 1.5, P < 0.001) was significantly lower in the intervention group compared to the control. Although the mean anxiety score was lower in the intervention group compared to the control, the difference between them was not statistically significant (adjusted mean difference = − 1.1, 95% confidence interval: − 2.6 to 0.4, P = 0.153). The mean score of QoL was significantly higher in the intervention group than that of the control group (adjusted mean difference = 6.9, 95% confidence interval: 5.1 to 8.8, P < 0.001). Conclusion Hope-oriented group counseling was effective in reducing stress and depression and improving QoL in women with failed IVF cycles. It is recommended to use this counseling approach, along with other methods, to improve the mental health of women with failed IVF cycles. This research aims to describe and analyze result of applying Problem-Based Learning and Cognitive Conflict Strategy (PBLCCS) in increasing students’ Mathematical Critical Thinking (MCT) ability and Mathematical Curiosity Attitude (MCA). Adopting a quasi-experimental method with pretest-posttest control group design and using mixed method with sequential explanatory strategy, the study involves undergraduate students of Mathematics Education Program at a private university in Riau, Indonesia, academic year 2015/2016 enrolled in Number Theory course. Quantitative data were obtained from essay test and questionnaire whereas qualitative data were from interview and observation. The findings show that; (1) there is a difference between MCT ability taught by PBLCCS and Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), (2) there is no significant difference between MCA taught by PBLCCS and EDI, (3) students still face obstacles in developing their critical thinking skills when solving matematical problems.

This research is aimed to determine the effectivity of training to increase self-efficacy towards career preference options in psychology. This is a quantitative research, in which experiment method is applied by using pretest-posttest control group design. The dependent variable is self-efficacy towards career preference options in psychology. Self efficacy towards career preference options in psychology is measured using self efficacy towards career preference options scale. The independent variable in this research is career planning training. The research subject are 40 persons groupped into experiment group and control group. Pre-test are given to both experiment and control group. next, the experiment group is given treatment of career planning training. The next step, post test is administered to experiment group and control group. The research is analized using anava repeated measure. Anava repeated measure resulted showing significant result. Thus, hyphothesis stating that there is effect of career planning training to self efficacy towards career preference options for psychology student of UNESA is accepted. Self efficacy towards career preference options for psychology increased after career planning training is given as treatment. Self efficacy towards career preference options for psychology in experiment group between pre-test and post-test is different.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pelatihan dalam meningkatkan efikasi diri terhadap pilihan bidang minat karir psikologi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain eksperimen yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Variabel tergantung pada penelitian ini adalah efikasi diri terhadap pilihan bidang minat karir psikologi. Kemampuan efikasi diri terhadap pilihan bidang minat karir psikologi diukur dengan skala efikasi diri terhadap pilihan bidang minat karir. Sedangkan variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah pelatihan perencanaan karir. Subjek penelitian yang berjumlah 40 orang yang kemudian dikelompokkan ke dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Pada kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol diberikan pre-test. Selanjutnya pada kelompok eksperimen dikenai perlakuan berupa pelatihan perencanaan karir. Tahapan berikutnya adalah pemberian posttest pada kelompok eksprimen dan kelompok kontrol. Analisis yang akan digunakan adalah anava amatan ulangan. Hasil anava amatan ulangan menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan. Dengan demikian, hipotesis yang menyatakan bahwa ada pengaruh pelatihan perencanaan karir terhadap efikasi diri terkait pilihan minat bidang karir psikologi pada mahasiswa psikologi UNESA, diterima. Efikasi diri terhadap pilihan minat bidang karir di Psikologi meningkat setelah diberikan pelatihan perencanaan karir.

A well-balanced diet is one of the four pillars of diabetes self-management. Patient's culture strongly influences intake food. Diabetic dietary guidelines which fit with the patient's culture is expected to improve patient's self-efficacy and diet compliance. This study was aimed to analyze the effect of ethnic foods diet program in improving self-efficacy and diet compliance among Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients. This was quasy experiment research with pre and post-test control design. The population was 112 T2DM patients from Sasak Tribes, West Nusa Tenggara. Samples were 36 respondents, divided into intervention (18) and control (18) groups. The independent variable was the ethnic food diet (EFD) program, while the dependent variables were patient's self-efficacy and diet compliance. Data were collected using self-efficacy questionnaire and a 24-hour dietary recall form. Data were then analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U Test. The result showed differences in self-efficacy between pre and post-test in the treatment group (p=0,001), but there were no differences in the control group. There were differences in diet compliance in the treatment group (p=0,001), but there were no differences in the control group. There were differences between treatment and control groups on self-efficacy (p=0,000) and diet compliance (p=0,000). Ethnic foods diet program can improve self-efficacy and diet compliance among T2DM patients because more comfortable and easier to be applied. Nurses can apply ethnic foods diet program as an intervention to promote healthy diet for T2DM patients.

<p>The purpose of this study is to obtain a profile of students’ creative thinking skills on quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials. Implementation of the research is using quasi-experimental method pre-test post-test control group design with 40 students involved in Biochemistry lab. The research instrument is pre-test and post-test using creative thinking skills in the form of description and students’ questionnaire. The analysis was performed with SPSS 22.0 program to see the significance normality, U Mann-Whitney test for nonparametric statistics, N-Gain score, and the percentage of student responses to the practicum performed. The research result shows that the pretest rate in the experimental group is 8.25 while in the control group is 6.90. After attending a project-based practicum with local materials, the experimental group obtained the mean of posttest is 37.55 while in control class is 11.18. The students’ improvement on creative thinking skills can be seen from the average of N-Gain in the experimental class with 0.32 (medium category) and in the control category with 0.05 (low category). The experimental and control class have different creative thinking skills significantly different fluency, flexibility, novelty, and detail. It can be concluded that quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials can improve students’ creative thinking skills. 71% of total students feel that quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials make them more creative in doing a practicum in the laboratory.</p>

the offspring in prenatal and postnatal periods and later life.  Lack of self-care is the most important reason for mortality in diabetic patients. Self-efficacy has a significant role in enhancing successful adherence to healthy behaviors, lifestyle modifications, and diabetes control among gestational diabetes pregnant women. Aim:  The current study aimed to evaluate the nursing intervention (NI) effectiveness on health locus of control (HELOC) and self-efficacy in women with gestational diabetes (GD). Methods: A quasi-experimental design (study and control group) was used. The researchers conducted this study at the Antenatal Outpatient Clinics of Shebin El-Kom Teaching Hospital, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. A purposive sample of 120 women with GD was carefully chosen from the nominated setting and dispersed accidentally into two identical groups (study and control group). Three tools were used for collecting the study data: A structured self-administered questionnaire, the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale-C Form, and the General Self-efficacy Scale. Results: There is a statistically significant difference between the intervention and control groups in their internal health locus of control (HELOC) scores after the intervention, with a mean difference of 4.70 at CI 95% for the intervention group p<0.001. A non-statistically significant difference was found between the intervention group and the control group in the external health locus of control (HELOC) mean scores before and after the intervention, although there was a significant difference between the change in both groups p=0.032. Also, there is a highly statistically significant difference between the intervention group and the control group in the self-efficacy scores after the intervention in the intervention group, where p<0.001 compared to a non-significant difference between them before the intervention group intervention (p=0.555). Conclusion: The study concluded that the women with GD who attended NI sessions obtained higher HELOC scores (internal and external) and higher self-efficacy scores than those who do not. Educational nursing intervention should become a fundamental part of the total management of gestational diabetes in antenatal outpatient clinics.
