Bertempat tinggal jauh dari pusat kota dan tidak adanya akses jalan raya membuat peranan kapal sangatlah penting bagi penulis dan masyarakat dusun Bumbung dipedalaman pulau Kalimantan. Ketergantungan terhadap kapal sangatlah dirasakan penulis dalam menjalani aktivitas sehari-hari. Dari ketergantung tersebut menimbulkan kedekatan yang intim diantara keduanya, sehingga dalam pengkajiannya, kapal yang memiliki karakter dan filosofi kehidupan menjadi dasar penulis untuk mewujudkan sebuah karya. Kapal menjadi subject matter dalam penciptaan karya lukis. Kapal bukanlah sebagai inti sebenarnya, melainkan metafora dari kompleksitas perjalanan kehidupan manusia. Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konsep, proses visualisasi, teknik, media dan bentuk dalam pembuatan karya seni lukis yang mengambil tema Kapal Sebagai Ide Visual Karya Seni Lukis. Dalam karya Tugas Akhir ini penulis ingin mencari sebuah jawaban atas kesinambungan yang terdapat dalam karya-karya sebelumnya, menjelaskan keterikatan apa yang dimiliki penulis dengan kapal. Mengambil bagian dari pengalaman empiris dan peristiwa-peristiwa yang terjadi di masyarakat yang penulis amati dan di latarbelakangi oleh perbedaan pola pikir pelaku kebudayaan dalam menjalani kehidupan baik sebagai individu ataupun sosial. Metode yang digunakan penulis yaitu: Metode eksplorasi dari berbagai fakta atau kejadian untuk mencari dan memilih tema yang sesuai dengan konsep penciptaan lukisan, metode interpretasi secara mendalam untuk mencari makna dan ide-ide baru. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan kontemporer yang didalamnya terdapat gaya realis dan surealis serta menampilkan simbolisme, metafora, transformasi bentuk, dan deformasi bentuk.Staying away from the city and the absence of highway access makes the use of ship become very important for the writer and the people of Bumbung village in the island of Borneo. Dependence on the ship is very felt by the writer in the daily activities. It affects intimate relation between the writer and the people in his village, so in his study, the ship which has the character and philosophy of life. It become the basic of the writer to realize an art work. The ship became the subject matter in creation of painting work. The ship is not as the real core, but the metaphor of the complexity of the journey of human life. This writing aims to describe the concept, the process of visualization, techniques, media and forms in the manufacture of painting that takes the theme Ship as the Visual Idea of Painting Work. In this final project, the writer wants to find an answer of continuity that contained in previous works, explaining attachments of the writer with the ship. Taking part of the empirical experience and events occurring in the society that the writer observed and the reason of differences thinking of cultural actors in living life as individual or social. The method used by the writer are: exploration methods from various facts or events to find and to choose a theme which appropriate with the concept of painting creation, methods of interpretation in depth to find new meanings and ideas. The writer uses a contemporary approach in which there is a realist and surrealist style and displays symbolism, metaphor, shape transformation, and form deformation.

Nestled among E. M. Forster's careful studies of Edwardian social mores is a short story called “The Machine Stops.” Set many years in the future, it is a work of science fiction that imagines all humanity housed in giant high-density cities buried deep below a lifeless surface. With each citizen cocooned in an identical private chamber, all interaction is mediated through the workings of “the Machine,” a totalizing social system that controls every aspect of human life. Cultural variety has ceded to rigorous organization: everywhere is the same, everyone lives the same life. So hopelessly reliant is humanity upon the efficient operation of the Machine, that when the system begins to fail there is little the people can do, and so tightly ordered is the system that the failure spreads. At the story's conclusion, the collapse is total, and Forster's closing image offers a condemnation of the world they had built, and a hopeful glimpse of the world that might, in their absence, return: “The whole city was broken like a honeycomb. […] For a moment they saw the nations of the dead, and, before they joined them, scraps of the untainted sky” (2001: 123). In physically breaking apart the city, there is an extent to which Forster is literalizing the device of the broken society, but it is also the case that the infrastructure of the Machine is so inseparable from its social structure that the failure of one causes the failure of the other. The city has—in the vocabulary of present-day engineers—“failed badly.”

Covid-19 pandemic has caused massive and widespread fear from various walks of life. The Covid-19 outbreak has affected all aspects of human life. This social reality encourages the people of Madiun Regency to make an effort to respond the pandemic by relying on local wisdom. The purpose of the study is to analyze and explain the actions of the people of Madiun Regency in responding to the Covid-19 Pandemic. The study was conducted for a year using a qualitative ethnographic approach. Data were collected by doing interview, observation, and document recording. The informants were determined by the purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, the data analysis was using coding techniques. The results show that the community carries out mitigation through various activities vertically (supernatural powers) and horizontally (fellow humans and nature) in accordance with the philosophy of life of personal memayu hayuning, memayu hayuning kulawarga, memayu hayuning together, memayu hayuning bawana, including; (1) doing religious rituals, (2) carrying out ‘peduli tangga teparo’ (a caring-neighbor movement), (3) encouraging mutual cooperation in various aspects of life fulfillment with the principles of togetherness, mutual honing, compassion, and upbringing, (4) activating and mobilizing food barns and barns food storage, and growing medicinal plants and consuming them to increase immunity.

The Human Development Index (HDI) is one of the parameters of success in the development of the quality of human life, besides that at the regional level, the HDI is an indicator of the primary performance measurement and allocation of Regional Incentive Funds in promoting the welfare of the people in the area. In 2020 the Banten Province Human Development Index 72.45 only rose 0.01% compared to 2019, lower than the growth in 2019, which reached 0.68% and is still stuck in the high category (70≤HDI≤80), this indicates the progress of human development in Banten experienced a slowdown, In addition, when compared to the growth of the HDI-forming indicators in 2019, all components that make up the HDI experienced a slowdown in growth except for RLS which experienced growth acceleration of 0.33% from 1.39% in 2019 to 1.72% in 2020. So it is necessary to do a deeper analysis to determine the characteristics of the indicators that make up the HDI in the City as a contributor to the HDI value of the Banten Province so that efforts can be made to increase human development as evidence of improving the welfare of the people in the Banten Province. The K-Means Cluster method is used to group cities in Banten Province based on similar characteristics in terms of the HDI compiler indicators, including Life Expectancy at Birth, Expected Years of Schooling, and Average Length of School in, and Expenditure per Capita. Based on the results of the analysis obtained three clusters consisting of cities with similar characteristics in each cluster. Cluster 1 is a City with a low HDI indicator consisting of Pandeglang, Lebak, Serang. Cluster 2 is a City with a medium HDI indicator consisting of Tangerang, Cilegon, Serang City. Cluster 3 has a high HDI indicator consisting of Tangerang City and South Tangerang City. After obtaining City information based on the characteristics of each cluster, then the Banten Provincial government can provide direction and policies to each City in Clusters 1 and 2 to be able to develop activity programs with more attention to the HDI compiler indicators so that the Human Development Index in the City can increase

مسلم تہذیب و تمدن پر ہندؤ تہذیب کے اثرات: پاکستانی تناظر میں جائزہ Islam provides a complete and comprehensive concept of civilization that includes all aspects of human life and provides a complete philosophy of life. Generally speaking a civilization is the expression of any philosophy or belief that develops into the political, social, economical and cultural norms. Main focus of the present research is the impact of Hindu civilization on our society, we see that by living with the Hindu society, their beliefs, casteism, rituals, have influenced the people around them. Pakistan is and always has been an amalgam of a diverse culture. Pakistan has a rich culture without a doubt, but this culture is in the line of fire in association to powerful Indian culture. From birth to death, there are small rituals that were normally associated with Hindus, have also slowly mixed with Islamic culture and have become inseparable. Change in the social life of Muslims of subcontinent is due to conversion of a large number of Hindus to Islam. They accepted the preaching of Islam but did not give up their practices and rituals. Consequently, their rituals and practices were incorporated into the Muslim society. Some social ceremonies associated with births, deaths, and marriages were influenced by Hindu culture. It is a fact that media played a great role in propagating Hindu culture. Therefore, in this article, efforts are made to analyze all the factors due to which we are facing challenges of Hindu civilization and how we can get rid of its impacts on Muslims thoughts, culture and society. Allah Almighty says: O people, who believe in Allah, enter the whole circle of Islam. So, to address all above-mentioned challenges, a comparative and analytical research methodology with qualitative paradigm has been conducted in this research paper. At the end, solutions have been provided.

Os nomes próprios de lugares, os topônimos, são elementos singulares do léxico da língua que, dentre suas várias funções como signo toponímico, prestam-se como indícios da história dos povos que os utilizam em suas interações verbais. Para além disso, são verdadeiros testemunhos dos diversos aspectos da memória e da identidade. Com esta perspectiva, este trabalho tem como objetivo principal verificar como os topônimos dos aglomerados urbanos da cidade de Balsas - MA manifestam as representações identitárias, de memória e de história de seus habitadores. A metodologia segue os pressupostos da onomástica, notadamente da toponímia, com uma análise descritiva das categorias identidade e memória entrelaçadas com a história, as quais são aplicadas aos topônimos de natureza antropocultural de base antroponímica, axionímica, coronímica e historionímica. Os resultados revelam que esses topônimos do sul do Maranhão expressam as acepções que abarcam a visão do mundo e da vida física e a visão da vida humana, os quais representam caracteres memorísticos e identitários dos vários povos que habitam este município, estabelecendo uma proximidade com essas transposições e instituições da língua.Abstract: The proper names of places, toponyms, are singular elements of the lexicon of the language that, among its various functions as toponymic sign, lend themselves as evidence of the history of the people who use them in their verbal interactions. In addition, they are true testimonies of the various aspects of memory and identity. With this perspective, Thus, this paper has as main aims to verify how the toponyms of the urban agglomerations of the city of Balsas-MA manifest the identity, memorable and historic representations of its inhabitants. The methodology follows the assumptions of onomastics, notably toponymy, with a descriptive analysis of the categories identity and memory intertwined with history, which are applied to toponyms of anthropocultural nature, with base axionimic, coronimic and historionimic toponyms. The results reveal that these toponyms in the south of Maranhão express the meanings that encompass the world view and the physical life and the human life view, which represent memorable and identity characters of the various peoples that inhabit this municipality, establishing proximity with these transpositions and institutions of the language. Key-words: Toponyms, Identity, Memory, History, Balsas-MA.

Spatial planning can be formed and developed in the dynamics of human life that grows based on the cultural and historical aspects of a city. The emergence of the concept of space and religious traditions in a city with historical value is one of them in the city of Demak. Demak City is one of the religious cities that has a new lifestyle for the Muslim community that has developed and has an identity as a religious community. The predicate of the city of Wali gives instructions that are relevant to the life of the people in the city of Demak. To what extent is the concept of forming spiritual space developing in the current Demak city? Broadly speaking, this will be the topic of writing about searching for symbols of space based on the phenomenon of community life in the city of Demak. Through qualitative methods as an option in this study to get a picture of understanding the concept of space and structuralism approach, information can be conveyed about the meaning of the concept of space and religious traditions. Research results in the form of the concept of spiritual space can be identified through the ritual activities of the majority of people in the area of the tomb of Sunan Kalijaga in Kadilangu Demak higher than the tombs of the Kings of Demak around the Great Mosque of Demak.

Architecture is an integral part human life. It influences the psyche and health of people, causing certain associations. Architectural objects are often captured through the lens of cameras. Selfie culture has become a powerful tool for promoting new meanings and designing modern public spaces. The need for selfie backgrounds is increasing. This encourages artists and architects to create interesting solutions for urban space. There are examples of urban street art in many cities around the world and in Russia. In Tyumen, there are memorable objects for visitors and its residents, which in turn are urban landmarks and are responsible for the strategic and economic development of the city. They are recognizable, stand out against the background of a monotonous environment and help to navigate the urban landscape. As a result of conducted research, the nformation is obtained on the most popular places for photos in the city of Tyumen. Territories can be divided into the following categories: environment, object and background. An architectural structure that meets all the criteria and is a key symbol of the city is selected from the objects considered. The selfie architecture of Tyumen is an integral part of the culture of today. However, at the moment in Tyumen there are no popular truly utilitarian spaces intended only for photos as it happens in other cities.

The glory, advancement, and fame of a certain nation, state, tribe or community group are often retold to educate, remember, and generate a positive spirit to build the future through various ways with various points of view in accordance with their respective fields of knowledge and passion.Jaza Chehata Hadi, in designing the interior of the Port, seeks to bring back the old Semarang atmosphere with the concept of Venice van Java, the nickname of Semarang city – Central Java Indonesia, years ago, due to many rivers in the middle of the city just like the city of Venice (Italy). The icons, documentation and knick-knacks of the past are presented to bring out the old Semarang atmosphere.The second article is Mahdi Nurcahyo's article, revealing how people with visual impairment or blindness recognize and present some aspects of convenience in the house where he lives in, as a part of giving meaning to everyday life through his sense of experience and sensitivity to arrange space according to his body's comfort. The third article by Muhammad Fadilah Fatah and his friends concerns on the design of a chair as a sitting facility which combines functions of bag, charger, as well as table by utilizing waste as its raw material to reduce environmental pollution.The existence of batik for Indonesian people is as the nation's ancestral cultural heritage. Batik covers various aspects such like philosophy, techniques or production, community economy, batik motifs, coloring, identity and other aspects. In the Edition XI, No. 2 of Pendhapa: Journal of Interior Design, Art and Culture, there are three articles related to batik. Two articles contain the results of some designs of the infrastructure facilities for the interiors to protect and develop batik. The revitalization of a noble's residence that had been neglected into a batik shop and museum in Laweyan village, Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, is the article of Yosafat Adi Pradipta and Raden Ersnathan Budi Prasetyo. Another article about batik is the interior design of Omah Batik in Bayat, Klaten, Central Java, Indonesia as a means of protecting and developing batik, by Annisa Isma Safitri and Joko Budiwiyanto. The last article is batik motifs as a design idea for hotel design, written by Wahyu Tri Widiyanto and Putri Sekar Hapsari.History stores a lot of knowledge, philosophy, science, wisdom, and many other things. The time span of batik work that has been going on for generations has become a part of the history of the cultural journey of the people, especially in Java. The preservation and development is a shared responsibility. The scholars, the researchers, and the academics morally have the obligation to always be sensitive to various things, especially related to phenomena in their surrounding environment.

In that article, I will focus on the opportunities to use crowdsourcing in the life of a city. This means that using new technologies cities can create initiatives in which to collaborate with its citizens for making the life of the city better. We know that the city is not only buildings and routes. The soul of the city comes from the crowd who lives in that city. Crowdsourcing is just a way to hear the voices of the  people and engage them in the future of their city.

Based on the concept of a livable and global age-friendly city, pavements are a public facility that the city should provide to the people. Appropriate pavements will be beneficial for the people, particularly for good quality of life for the elderly to move around in the city. This study explored the behaviour of the elderly in the use of pavements and the problems confronted. The study also evaluated the value of the pavement walking area as it reflected the benefits of pavements to the elderly by applying the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). During March-May 2017, data were collected using interviews with 601 elderly living in Bangkok. The study indicated that the main problem for senior citizens regarding their use of pavements was from being disturbed by motorbikes riding on the pavements. The average value of pavement for the elderly was about THB 160 (USD 5.30) per person per year. Thus, the benefits of pavements to the elderly in Bangkok was approximately THB 158 million (USD 5.2 million) per year. Thus, policy makers should make proper budget allocations for elderly-friendly pavement management and seriously address the problems confronting the elderly in using pavements, to maximize the usefulness of pavements not only for the elderly but also for the public and to support a sustainable urban development.
