In 2018, Latvia celebrates a hundred years since it became an independent state. One hundred years ago, on 18 November 1918, 38 members of the People’s Council of Latvia (further in the text ‒ the People’s Council) took part in the proclamation of Latvia. None of them experienced the restoration of the Republic of Latvia, and most of them died before the end of the Second World War. There were seven graduates of the Riga Polytechnicum (RP) / Riga Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and one student who did not receive a diploma from the institute among the participants in the founding act of the Republic of Latvia. Of the seven graduates four suffered repressions in 1941 and were taken to Siberia, two after the Second World War went into exile, one died in 1924. Some of the participants of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia have left written testimonies about the beginnings of the state’s foundation. All members of the People’s Council were reputable Latvian citizens, some of them were awarded the Order of Three Stars for meritorious service to native land.

Hegel’s analysis of poetry’s genres begins with epic poetry, which is the action-based articulation of a nation’s dawning self-awareness. Lyric poetry, by contrast, allows poets to express their deepest subjectivity and interpret the world through their own experience. Drama brings action back into art, allowing actors themselves to emerge as artists and correcting for the vanishing subjectivity in painting and music. Drama also incorporates the two other poetic genres, as well as the other arts. Because it achieves these syntheses, it is, according to Hegel, the highest art. Hegel gives special consideration to tragedy and comedy, assessing both in their ancient and modern forms. His conclusion is that although both subgenres are more difficult to achieve in the modern world, successful examples are possible, ensuring that poetry will continue. With these poetic subgenres, the individual arts reach their conceptual end.

Abstract The Pseudo-Plutarchan De musica provides us with the oldest history of Greek lyric poetry from pre-Homeric epic poetry to the lyric poetry of the fourth century BC. Importantly, the work also contains an evaluation of the role of music in the process of educating and training citizens. Pseudo-Plutarch (Aristoxenus) considers the καλόν in the aesthetic and ethical sense, which makes it incompatible with the καινόν dictated by the new poetic and musical season.

Due to today's complex and changing geopolitical situation in the State Border Guard College as one of the militarized educational institutions it is important to promote the student's understanding of values and virtues, enrich their historical and cultural experience, strengthen their patriotism, belonging and loyalty to the constitution and to the Republic of Latvia. Patriotism can’t be defined because it varies according to the subject's position. It is not a specific ideology, but this is a love of native land and defending it in words and in works. Patriotism means to love own country not just idolize the state symbols. Aim of the study is to clarify and scientifically substantiate the necessity of introducing the study subject “State Fosterage” into studies of border guards at the State Border Guard College as one of the militarized educational institutions and to determine the development of students' statehood consciousness, loyalty and patriotism as one of the study programs objectives at the State Border Guard College. For this purpose analysis and evaluation of documents, scientific, pedagogical and psychological literature were performed and conclusions about the necessity of introduction of the State Fosterage subject and possibilities of patriotism development were summarized.

The article analyzes the semantic features of D. Belekov's early lyrics, identifies the figurative and spatial dominants represented in the author's artistic world. In the temporal designation, the semantic structure is actualized in a series of images associated with spring, and primroses, a blooming apple tree, murmuring streams of meltwater, fields with thawed patches, etc., creating a holistic picture of the awakening nature, metaphorically embody the image of the younger generation. Toponymically and geographically, the dominant image is the image of the native land, which includes the entire complex of symbols-markers characteristic of the designation of the territory of Gorniy Altai (Altai Mountains). If the homeland for the lyrical hero of the poet becomes a source of strength and inspiration, then for his development he needs a movement understood as the development of the "other" space, actualized in the generalized image of blue distances and a crowded city with bright lights. The central theme in the poet's lyrics is the theme of the road, embodied in the motives of departure and return.

The paper analyzes the state of goat production in the Republic of Serbia, with special emphasis on the general overview of conditions and problems that accompany this branch of animal husbandry with the proposed solutions and recommendations with the aim of increasing the productive capacity of the existing breeds of goats. Goat Serbia is characterized by a negative state, especially strong negative trend over the number of goats. Production of goat milk and meat past few years has stagnated at very low levels. As a small producer of these foods, our country can not meet the needs of its population in them, nor to any one market may not emerge as a serious bidder. For these reasons, imposes itself as a priority in the agricultural policy of our country, the constant application and approval of new incentives in the goat in order to create as many commodity producers of milk and meat, especially of kid meat intended for export. Serbia goat development opportunities exist and are available through the agricultural areas, where special emphasis should be placed on individual farms, their size, and to deal with the goat as the primary production in the highlands, and in some areas and the plains, where land and soil suitable for meadows and pastures. However, evaluation of the potential and benefits is very low, and the prosperity of goats farms not possible without a transformation of the wider economic and social environment.
