Changes in the teaching methodology of an undergraduate psychology course are described. The goals were to increase student responsibility for and participation in the course and to promote critical thinking systematically. Responsibility was increased by having students write their own essay questions for exams. Active participation during class meetings was encouraged by using the technique of Socratic dialogue. Critical thinking was promoted by utilizing Bloom's taxonomy. Student responses on course evaluation forms indicated a high degree of satisfaction with these methods.

The Shroud of Turin, a linen cloth with but a faint image, continues to capture the interest of many people of diverse beliefs. Although the measured age of the cloth is relatively recent, other scientific findings indicate an earlier provenance. Any firm conclusions regarding the cloth's history remain premature. No satisfactory explanation has been found as yet for how the image on the cloth was produced structurally or stylistically. Iconographic evidence suggests that the image was the source of facial peculiarities found in early works of religious art. The body image bears a striking yet preternatural correlation with Scriptural accounts of wounds. Curiously, the image on the cloth functions as a photographic negative, exhibiting a high degree of resolution, as if the original were produced in pixels. Despite serious efforts to discover some artistic origin md medium, scientific evidence points in the direction that it was not produced by hands. If it is tme that the medium is the message, as Marshall McLuhan wrote, then the Turin Shroud may be a parable for the modern age.

Social changes, life events, and the difficulties that accompany ageing can lead to situations of loneliness and, in the worst cases, isolation. In cases of institutionalization, the attenuating effect of family support may increase when people are faced by the need to deal with a new life stage like old age. The goal of this study was to analyze the frequency and type of family contacts that are maintained in old people's residences, as well as the old people's degree of satisfaction with such contacts. A sample of 50 institutionalized people over 70 years of age completed the Cuestionario de Evaluación de Calidad de Vida en contexto Residencial (CECAVI-R, in Spanish, the Questionnaire to Assess Quality of Life within a Residential Context). The results show that the oldest people in the residences have more frequent family contacts. Taking gender into account, the frequency of family contacts varied as a function of the visitor (grandchildren, siblings, etc.). Lastly, the analysis of satisfaction with family relations was positive, and the younger inmates displayed the least satisfaction.

Objectives: to identify the sociodemographic and health profile of burn victims, knowing the characteristics of the events and detecting the major analgesics prescribed in the emergency department. Methods: descriptive, exploratory and quantitative study with 16 burn victims treated at a Burn Treatment Unit from October 2015 to May 2016. Results: the average age of participants was 31.8 years (± 14.1). Mostly, the subjects were male (62.5%), single (43.8%), brown (68.8%), economically active (75.0%) and coming from Aracaju and its surroundings (62.5%). Injuries from burns were mostly of second degree (93.8%) and reached the lower limbs (68.8%). The average burned body surface was 15.8% (± 11.5). The circumstances surrounding burns occurred mainly at home (50.0%), on Sundays (25.0%) and in the shifts morning (37.5%) and night (37.5%). The main etiological agent was alcohol (31.3%). All patients received analgesia in the emergency department, but the minority had pain documented (18.8%). The physician was the only professional who reported pain in their records, but did incompletely (18.8%). Conclusion: due to the negative effects of burns, it is crucial to adopt educational and preventive measures to change the current scenario of epidemiology of such trauma. Sharia compliance is the adherence of Islamic banks to Islamic rules or laws in muamalah and is one of the factors that differentiate it from conventional banks. Therefore sharia compliance is a fundamental principle in Islamic banking practices. Muamalah law, especially the economy, has a high degree of difference, so the sharia compliance standards in Indonesia refer to the Fatwa of the National Sharia Council-Indonesian Ulama Council (DSN-MUI). This study aims to analyze the practice of sharia compliance in Islamic Rural Banks (BPRS) in Indonesia. The data analyzed is the assessment of the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) on the practice of BPRS for five years. The sample distribution covers all regions of Indonesia with 24 units of analysi with 46 respondenss. The data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis and compared it with the DSN-MUI fatwa. This study's results indicate that the level of compliance with Islamic rural banks in Indonesia is, on average, excellent. Other findings show that, when viewed from the contract's practice, financing with a musyarakah contract has the highest level of sharia compliance compared to separate agreements. Meanwhile, the lowest sharia compliance is in the murabahah contract. This condition is influenced because Islamic banks often use the murabahah bil wakalah contract. The weakness of this contract lies in the procurement of goods by customers, often not accompanied by proof of purchase.
