This paper examined job satisfaction levels among library professionals in Chhattisgarh region based on different affecting factors. This survey study is made up of 69 library Professionals in different 7 districts. The majority of the respondents are female library professionals (53.62%) while the rest are male professionals (46.38%). Among the sample of library professionals, 81.16 % are married and 18.84% are unmarried. A questionnaire was distributed by hand and through the mail for data collection and analyzed using excel. Job satisfaction is a very essential aspect that is often evaluated by organizations. The way of measurement is the use of an evaluation scale where librarians report their opinion to their jobs. Questions are connected with Nature of work Professional status, social status, motivation, Management support, and professional development. As a result of a study by calculation of mean; most of the library professionals are dissatisfied with their nature of work but moderately satisfy with Professional status, motivation and human resources. High social status affects their satisfaction level.

Objective: To assess the critical care nurses’ perception of their caring behaviors and factors affecting these behaviors.Methods: Participants of this descriptive correlational exploratory study included 277 critical care nurses selected conveniently from nurses worked in all critical care units in King Khalid Hospital, Jeddah. A self-reported questionnaire namely, “Critical Care Nurses Caring Behavior Perception” developed by the researchers after reviewing related literature was used to assess caring behaviors and their affecting factors as perceived by critical care nurses.Results: Seventy percent of the nurses aged between 31 to 50 years old and more than half of nurses had ICU experience ranged from 6 to 10 years, while two thirds of nurses had no previous training about caring behaviors. The study findings revealed that the majority of nurses had high scores of perceived caring behaviors, whereas the mean of their perception was 296.96 ± 18.32. There was a statistical significant positive relationship between nurses’ perception and their work circumstances, workload, job satisfaction, educational background and patient characteristics.Conclusions: It is important to consider critical units’ circumstances, nurses’ educational background, job satisfaction, as well as the nature of critically ill patients in order to promote nurses awareness and implementation of caring behaviors. Moreover, replication of the current study using qualitative approach for in-depth analysis of the impact of factors could affecting caring behaviors on nurses’ perception in various highly specialized critical care units.

The objective of this study is to examine those factors which are related in a high manner to job satisfaction among library workers. Data were collected from a sample of 100 library professionals from private engineering and management colleges in Pune Region. The data analyses indicated that job satisfaction among library professionals is not related to their sex, the type of library in which they worked, or their vocational needs, but it is related to the characteristics of their job environments. The supervisory climate and the essential characteristics of the job itself are the two most important determinants of job satisfaction. Interpretation of the data suggests that a supervisory climate which permits a librarian to exercise initiative and professional judgment in the performance of the job is conducive to job satisfaction. This study contributes to the LIS literature and practice in the following two ways: first, this study provides new knowledge concerning the job satisfaction factors of library professionals. Second, the new knowledge may help library and information managers to develop effective managerial approaches.

Objective China launched new healthcare reforms in 2009 and several policies targeted village clinics, which affected village doctors’ income, training and duties. The aim of the present study was to assess village doctors’ job satisfaction during the reforms and to explore factors affecting job satisfaction. Methods Using a stratified multistage cluster sampling process, 935 village doctors in Jiangxi Province were surveyed with a self-administered questionnaire that collected demographic information and contained a job satisfaction scale and questions regarding their work situation and individual perceptions of the new healthcare reforms. Descriptive analysis, Pearson’s Chi-squared test and binary logistic regression were used to identify village doctors’ job satisfaction and the factors associated with their job satisfaction. Results Only 12.72% of village doctors were either satisfied or very satisfied with their jobs and the top three items leading to dissatisfaction were pay and the amount of work that had to be done, opportunities for job promotion and work conditions. Marriage, income, intention to leave, satisfaction with learning and training, social status, relationship with patients and satisfaction with the new healthcare reforms were significantly associated with job satisfaction (P < 0.05). Conclusions China is facing critical challenges with regard to village doctors because of their low job satisfaction. For future healthcare reforms, policy makers should pay more attention to appropriate remuneration and approaches that incentivise village doctors to achieve the goals of the health reforms. What is known about the topic? Village doctors act as gatekeepers at the bottom tier of the rural health system. However, the policies of the new healthcare reform initiatives in China were centred on improving the quality of care delivered to the rural population and reducing fast-growing medical costs. There have been limited studies on village doctors’ reactions to these reforms. What does this paper add? The findings of the present study indicate that in the process of implementing the new healthcare reforms, village doctors’ overall job satisfaction is low and most respondents are dissatisfied with the reforms. The factors affecting job satisfaction include income, training, social status, relationship with patients and satisfaction with the reforms. What are the implications for practitioners? Health reform policy makers should ensure village doctors feel appropriately remunerated and are motivated while aiming to reduce the financial burden on patients. The views of stakeholders (i.e. patients and village doctors) should be considered when designing future health reforms.

Background Rural health extension workers (HEWs) are essential for the implementation of the promotion and prevention-based health care policy of Ethiopia. Job satisfaction is believed to be one of the key factors that influence their performance. Information regarding job satisfaction and associated factors are limited in the study area. Therefore, this study was aimed at assessing job satisfaction level and associated factors among rural Health Extension Workers of Sidama Region, Southern Ethiopia. Method A facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 341 rural HEWs from 1 March to 30 April 2021. Data was collected using trained data collectors using pre-tested and self-administered questionnaires. SPSS version-25 was used for data analysis. Bi-variable and multi-variable logistic regressions were used to observe the association between the outcome variable and associated factors. The outputs are presented using an adjusted odds ratio (AOR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI). Result This study revealed that 36.6% (95% CI: 31.6%-41.6%) of the rural HEWs were satisfied with their job. Increased odds of satisfaction were observed among rural HEWs who got training opportunities (AOR: 3.74, 95% CI: 2.01, 6.98), education opportunities (AOR: 3.06, 95% CI: 1.56, 7.46), management support (AOR: 4.59, 95% CI: 2.44, 8.67), supervisor support (AOR: 7.40, 95% CI: 3.84, 14.26), and a better salary/payment (AOR: 4.18, 95% CI: 2.19, 7.88) compared to their counterparts. Conclusion and Recommendation The job satisfaction level among rural HEWs in the study area was low. Strategies to stimulate and strengthen recognition of management, supportive supervision, performance-based regular salary increment, and career developments are recommended.

Purpose This paper aims to explore the factors affecting the job satisfaction level of paraprofessional staff working in Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized public and private sector university libraries. Design/methodology/approach The study was quantitative in nature, and survey research method was used. The population of the study was paraprofessionals working in HEC-recognized public and private university central libraries of Lahore. Convenient sampling was used, and five respondents were selected from each university. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a pre-developed scale job satisfaction survey by Spector (1985). Findings The study reported that respondents were not dissatisfied with their jobs, and still they were standing between “Neutral” and “agree” with all statements of job satisfaction. The nature of job was identified as the most satisfied facet of job satisfaction. It was also observed that a significant difference of job satisfaction was found among respondents having different salary packages. The group with the highest salary was more satisfied than others. Job security proved the factor affecting job satisfaction, as there was significant difference of job satisfaction between permanent and contract-based employees. Permanent nature of job was a reason of satisfaction for the respondents. However, it is interesting that job satisfaction level of public and private sector paraprofessionals did not differ. Research limitations/implications Findings of the study clarify that the universities are required to redesign their job recruitment policies and to revise pay scales of paraprofessionals. Most importantly, a gap in communication was also found within organizations which could affect the level of job satisfaction among paraprofessionals. Universities should pay attention to maintain the two-way communication flow from top level management to lower level. Originality/value This is probably first study reported from Pakistan on the subject. The findings of the study will help universities to redesign their job recruitment policies and to revise pay scales of paraprofessionals. Most importantly, the findings suggest that universities should pay attention to maintain the two-way communication flow from top level management to lower level.

The paper deals with the job satisfaction of the library and information professionals working in government and the private sector libraries in the Fiji. The study was carried out in relation to what is the happiness level of working with their co-workers and how much they are satisfied with their wages and job securities. Library professionals have experienced ignoble and asymmetrical salary payments, lacks of proper housing, inadequate facilities in libraries, low social status given to them and limited opportunities for professional development in Fiji. The main purpose of this study is to find out the major factors affecting career choices, level of job satisfaction, and perceptions of the general image of library professionals in Fiji. This article explores, how much satisfaction of these library professionals, derive from their chosen career and examine the degree of dissatisfaction or areas of discontent among then. Results show that the female professionals are more satisfied from their job as compared to males. Library professionals who are much experienced are possess a proportionately high level of job satisfaction as compared to other age groups. Whereas, those professionals are between ages of 28-35, having a comparatively ignoble level of job satisfaction, compared to another age group of professionals. Unmarried professionals possess a comparatively ignoble level of job satisfaction as compared to married or widow and separated hold comparatively high job satisfaction.

Background:Nurses’ job satisfaction and job stress are important issues regarding their turnovers. While there are some recent descriptive studies on job satisfaction in public hospitals, very limited research was found on this topic in private hospital setting. It is worth to examine the job satisfaction of nurses and its correlates in such a specific hospital context in Hong Kong, by which the findings can be compared with those in public hospitals, and across countries.Aims:To investigate nurses’ job satisfaction, job stress and intention to quit of nurses in a private hospital, and the correlates of the nurses’ job satisfaction.Design:A cross-sectional, descriptive survey study was conducted.Methods:By using stratified random sampling in terms of nature of wards/units and working ranks, 139 full-time nurses who were working in the 400-bed private hospital for at least 6 months and provided direct nursing care were recruited in this study. Data were collected by employing a set of self-administered structured questionnaires, consisting of the Index of Work Satisfaction (job satisfaction), Anxiety-Stress Questionnaire (job stress), Michigan Organizational Assessment Questionnaire (intention to quit), and socio-demographic data.Results:With a response rate of 74.3%, the results of the 139 respondents showed that the nurses in the private hospital had an overall moderate level of satisfaction with their work and rated the professional status as the highest satisfied domain. The nurses also reported moderate levels of job stress and intention to quit. The nurses’ job satisfaction was negatively correlated with their job stress and intention to quit; whereas, the nurses’ job stress was positively correlated with their intention to quit. The nurses with older in age and more post-registration experience and/or working experience in the private hospital indicated a higher level of job satisfaction, particularly with ‘Pay’ and ‘Autonomy’.Conclusion:The findings suggest that the nurses in the private hospital are moderately stressful and satisfied with their work environment and relationships. A few socio-demographic characteristics of these nurses such as their age and years of clinical experiences were associated with their levels of job satisfaction and/or stress. The findings provided information for private hospitals and healthcare organizations about the need and areas for improvement of nurse’s job satisfaction, thus strengthening their recruitment and retention.

Job satisfaction is an important construct to the field of organizational behavior and the practice of human resource management. Schools are no exception to the list of organizations ensuring teachers’ job satisfaction therefore becomes inevitable if schools have to record good performances. This paper aims at examining some of the demographic factors affecting job satisfaction of teachers in private primary schools and their consequent performance. To attain this objective; the authors carried out a survey study in private schools in Yei town, South Sudan. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the respondents from ten private schools in the town. A total of 110 respondents were considered for the study constituting 10 head teachers and 100 teachers from each of the 10 schools. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Data was then analysed by the use of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 12.0 and presented in frequencies and percentages. The factors identified included gender, age bracket, educational level, pay and length of service of teachers.  Based on the findings, it is apparent that certain demographic factors have a significant influence on the level of job satisfaction of teachers in private schools.

This study aimed to the following: Identifying the job satisfaction and its relation with health services provided to society.  Identifying the factors affecting on job satisfaction and its relation with level of health services provided to society. Identifying the impacts of development of job satisfaction level and its relation with level of health services. Identifying the appropriate methods to increase the job satisfaction level and quality of health services. To achieve these objectives, the researcher used the analytical descriptive method in order to achieve aims of the study. She has chosen a random Population of 261 employees of Ministry of Health and used the questionnaire with closed form to collect its data. The study found out some results as: The (252) employees, of the total staff of the Ministry of Health (Population) are Saudis; while (9) employees, of the total staff of the Ministry of Health; are non-Saudis.  The Ministry of Health staff (the Population) are satisfied that there are certain to raise the level of job satisfaction appropriate mechanisms, and the quality of health services. The Ministry of Health staff (the Population) are satisfied that there are some effects of improving the level of job satisfaction, and its relationship to the level of health services provided to the community. The researcher recommended some of the recommendations and most important: Providing human potential, physical, and technical service to the sick, and raise the level of job satisfaction, and the level of health services provided to the community. Working on removing the causes of lack of job satisfaction as many work pressures, such as: marginalization, long working hours and lack of recognition of the social, psychological and administrative disciplines, and lack of integration of services provided to patients. Working on staff participation in planning and decision-making process; as it affects the level of job satisfaction to have.

This study examines job satisfaction of physicians in Korea and investigates factors affecting their satisfaction. The majority of the past studies tend to cover few minor factors— including stress and occupation professionality or insufficient scale of respondents in particular regions—thus leading to restricted explanations on job satisfaction of the overall physician pool in Korea. This study examines the level of job satisfaction of physicians in Korea and factors affecting their satisfaction by using the ‘2016 Korean Physician Survey (KPS)’ data which included all physicians in Korea. Ordinal logistic regression analysis was conducted in this study in order to identify the factors affecting job satisfaction of physicians in terms of care environment attributes. These attributes included autonomy for care delivery, colleagues/staff/patient relations, income, healthcare resources, social reputation, personal leisure time, administration, restrictions and regulations, and work hours and loads. For the ordinal logistic regression analysis, general socio-demographic attributes, such as gender, age, specialty, job position, type of affiliated healthcare organization, working region, and length of service were controlled beforehand. The result of our measures, the affecting factors of job satisfaction for physicians, include being able to; maintain positive relations with patients through adequate time for consultation and necessary healthcare, have the autonomy to make clinical decisions, have healthy relations with peers and staff, obtain respect from family and society, work in an environment with desirable income and have adequate health resources, and have appropriate work hours and loads for those who facilitate high-quality care. Creating an environment in which physicians can focus on patient-oriented healthcare will contribute to promoting national healthcare.
