Dizziness and vertigo are the most common complaints of patients that has a high economic burden on the health system. In modern medicine, treatment for dizziness and vertigo consists of chemical pharmacological therapy. Although these drugs are useful in controlling the disease, their side effects and inefficiency in full control of the disease require the use of complementary medicine in this field. Persian medicine consists of valuable experiences of Persian medicine scholars based on the theory of humors and temperaments. In Persian medicine, 2 types of disease are presented: dizziness ( sadar) and vertigo ( dovar). Persian medicine physicians expressed a different mechanism of action than modern medicine for these diseases. They believed that accumulation of abnormal humors, reeh (normal bloating) or causative pathologic substances, is the basic cause of sadar and dovar and that the most important treatment is cleansing the body, particularly the head from accumulated substances by bloodletting methods.

Amavata is a very painful condition in day-to-day life. It is a chronic disorder related to especially sandhisthanas (joints). It can be compared with Rheumatoid Arthritis (R.A.). In modern medicine, R.A. is treated with steroids and various NSAIDS which has multiple side – effects. In Ayurveda, Amavata is caused due to impairment of Agni (indigestion) and vitiation of Vata dosha which form ‘Aama - The untransformed, non-assimilated compo- nent in the digestive process.' Amavata is a madhyama rogamarga disease and causes severe pain, stiffness and is difficult to treat. Hence, there are chances of recurrence. For this, in Ayurveda, both Shamana and Shodhana treatments are explained very well. In this case study, the patient was dependent on steroids and her physiological functioning body was hampered. By Ayurvedic intervention (Shodhana and Shamana Chikitsa) we have effec- tively manage the disease by gradually tapering the steroids and ultimately stopped. The sequential treatment plan is effectively used in this case. Keywords: Amavata, Aama, Shamana, Shodhana.

One of the key issues in modern medicine-based therapy is the mechanisms of medicine-induced effects on the body. The generally acknowledged chemical paradigm can’t offer an explanation for the therapeutic effect, in case of treatment with ultra-high diluted (UHD) medicines. At the same time studies of the homeopathic phenomenon elicited the electromagnetic wave nature of the interaction between drugs (including allopathic medicines) and the organism. Correspondence of the medicine and gene wave indicators leads to the resonance of the waves and stimulates attenuated genetic activity demonstrating a therapeutic effect. Wave actions of an allopathic remedy target a certain weak gene, the weakness of which causes a certain symptom. The gene activation results in the symptom elimination which is symptomatic treatment. Homeopathic preparations have an effect on control centres containing a certain set of genes. Stimulation of such centres leads to normalization of the functions of a relevant body system, as well as of the biochemical processes controlled by the centre. On the other hand, counter-propagating amplitudes of medication waves and pathogenic beams helps to reduce their effect and stop the disease process. UHD of medicinal substances used in homeopathy demonstrates coherency - phase shift of the preparation wave. Its value is essential for the homeopathic phenomenon realization as it allows approximation of the medicine wave indicators to those of the ‘target’. Therefore, today’s level of scientific apprehension of a medicine healing effect on the organism, as well as subsequent studies and active implementation of obtained study results into practical work make it possible to identify a way out of the critical situation, which exists in the modern medication-based therapy, ensure medicine-based therapy efficiency and optimize costs of therapy and prevention of many diseases. Keywords: homeopathic phenomenon, coherency, mechanisms of medicine-induced effect on organism, wave actions, gene, therapeutic effect.

Tamaka shwasa is made by two words ‘Tamaka’ and ‘Shwasa’. The  ‘Tamaka’ word came from ‘tama’ means experience of darkness;  And ‘Shwasa’ means respiration or breathing process ; but as concern to this disease it means increased rate of respiration or difficulty in breathing process. Acharya Charaka quoted that Shwasa and Hicca are two diseases, which are fatal to life amongst all other diseases[1].Tamaka Shwasavyadhi comes under Shwasa vyadhi. On the basis of severity; Shwasa roga is classified into five types. Kshudra shwasa can be seen as asymptoms in many diseases and is self limiting. Chhinna, Urdhwa, Maha shwasa are the terminal stages and have extremely bad prognosis. And Tamaka shwasa having its own etiology, pathology and management. It is mentioned as yapya vyadhi[2] . In this disease Vayu is vitiated and blocked by Kapha. So, vayu moves upward instead of its normal flow.Bronchial asthma in modern medicine closely resembles with Tamaka shwasa. Ayurvedic drugs including the respiratory tonics and naturally occurring bronchodilators and immunomodulators can be a potential and effective alternative for the treatment of Bronchial asthma.  Aim: To evaluate the effect of Rasagutika[3] in the management of Tamaka Shwasa w. s. r. to Bronchial asthma. Materials and methods:In this study , a patient of Asthma managed by an Ayurvedic formulation Rasagutika in dose of 250mg with kantakari kwatha administered orally three times a day after food for the period of 8 weeks.

ABSTRACT : Amavata is composed of two words namely- Ama and Vata. The Ama is the product of incomplete digestion which circulates throughout the body and induces heaviness, loss of taste and appetite, body ache, joint swelling and stiffness, constipation etc like symptoms. The Amavata is described under Vata-Kaphaja vikaras since the period of Madhavkara (16th century). It is a chronic inflammatory systemic disorder affecting mainly the synovial joints in the body. It resembles with Rheumatoid Arthritis in the modern pathology. The Amavata is known to be a crippling, chronic and progressive disorder making it difficult to cure. The symptomatic relief is attained by modern medicine but the root cause and pathology of the disease remains untreated. In Ayurveda, the basic treatment principles of Deepana, Langhana, Swedana, Virechana, Basti, Tikta-Katu dravyas are applied for effective management of the root cause of Amavata. A 38 year old female patient with complaints of Shoola, Shotha and Sthamba of the knee, wrist, ankle and metacarpophalangeal joints of both hands was reported in our hospital OPD an year ago. According to the Lakshanas and the blood investigations, the diagnosis was made as Amavata and treatment was planned. Oral medication with Sinhanad Guggul, Vatavidhwans Ras, Arogyavardhini vati, Dashamularistha and Shunti-Eranda kwath along with Valuka sweda was advised. The assessement was made on the basis of subjective and objective parameters. The results did show a significant improvement in the symptoms of the patient and she was able to perform her routine work without any difficulty.
