Background: The academic activity of students and professors constitutes the basis of professional training in engineering. Training in electrical engineering has always been of less interest to university students compared to other professional training programs. However, in recent years, this interest has decreased beyond previous trends, an effect detected in all engineering programs, which has been accelerated by the distance learning mechanisms adopted in the face of the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, among the incentive mechanisms for young people, the promotion of research activity has been included. This study describes the model proposed within the Electrical Technology and Engineering programs of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas as a distinctive element of its research training strategy. Aims: To offer alternatives tending to promote the current research activities of the research groups of the electrical engineering area of the Universidad Distrital (Colombia) to increase the performance of the formative research processes, in particular with motivational aspects, development of critical awareness, and strengthening of resilience. Methods: A strategic plan was developed to increase the activity related to research processes within the academic program. It was based on the dynamics shown in the last seven years, and a set of strategies aimed at strengthening and encouraging this trend was projected for the next seven years. Results and Discussion: This strategic plan is expected to increase academic activity, particularly related to scientific production indicators. Projections for the next seven years indicate an increase in student participation related to scientific publications, the population in research groups, and project development. Conclusions: The proposed scheme corresponds to a model adjusted to higher education institutions with student populations of low academic strata and under national standards that prioritize quality in education from the point of view of both physical and human resources, particularly those that promote critical awareness of local and national reality. In this sense, the proposed plan is highly relevant and promotes one of the strengths identified in the academic program.

Для развития инновационного потенциала студентов современный образовательный процесс в высшем учебном заведении должен иметь личностно-профессиональную направленность. Значимым фактором развития инновационного потенциала студентов является образовательная среда и психолого-педагогическое сопровождение образовательного процесса. Changes in society, the complexity of professional tasks actualize the request to universities to train specialists who are ready for innovation. To develop the innovative potential of students, the modern educational process in universities should be focused not only on the professional training of students, but also on the development of personality. Innovative activities, solving creative tasks to create new products and technologies require active work of the intellect, motivation and will, and this stimulates the development and selfdevelopment of a person. An important factor in the development of innovative potential of students is the educational environment. The functioning of this environment should be based on a systematic analysis of the object, subject, processes, and conditions of innovative development. In addition, it is important to determine the criteria for the effectiveness of the innovation environment, as well as to implement the principle of ensuring the continuous development of students. For the development of innovative potential, it is necessary to use psychological and pedagogical support of the educational process. The main principle of psychological and pedagogical support of the educational process is to take into account the individual characteristics and capabilities of students, the development of their resources. Psychological and pedagogical support of the educational process should be aimed primarily at the actualization of personal competencies that determine innovative activity. For the development of innovative potential, students should participate in the choice of an individual educational trajectory, show educational initiatives and implement them in research activities.

This paper illustrates the efforts based on the results obtained in the funding of precision agriculture, during more than two decades of cooperation between University of Debrecen and University of Oradea, within the framework of joint, EU co-financed projects, and put into practice on both sides of the border. Common plant-health databases, interactive Web pages, consultation activities, professional publications, professional training activities, laboratory infrastructure improvements, common research themes proves the progress made to date and create conditions for further development of joint research activities.

The author of article analyzes the peculiarities of the professional training of future teachers of Ukrainian language and literature on the base of interdisciplinary integration. Lilik O. O. explores the problem of the definition of integration in scientific literature, she describes different levels and ways of interdisciplinary integration in vocation training. The author of the article considers interdisciplinary integration within the framework of professional training of future teachers of Ukrainian language and literature at three levels, namely: as integration of content (level of separate disciplines (historical-literary and theoretical-literary, as well as pedagogical and methodical) and educational material); as an integration of methods of activity (ability and skills to operate with material during training, as well as further professional activity); as an integration of values ​​and worldviews (the level of personal and professional worldview of students), the result of which are formed general and professional competencies. The first way is interdisciplinary integration within the classroom (lectures, practical, and laboratory). The second way is integration within the independent work of students. The third way for interdisciplinary integration is the research activities of students, including the writing of term papers and qualifications, which can be performed at the intersection of several scientific and educational disciplines. The fourth way of implementing interdisciplinary integration is the students’ participation in additional forms of organization of the educational process - special seminars, trainings, workshops, master classes, round tables, which can be held within grant activities or be a form of self-education of future vocabulary teachers. The fifth way is educational work at the faculty or the university in general, which involves the organization of various activities. On the basis of the conducted researches Lilik O. О. comes to the conclusion that interdisciplinary integration can be a catalyst for the educational process in higher education, provide comprehensive and thorough training of future teachers of Ukrainian language and literature for professional activities, as it covers a wide range of issues: from theoretical knowledge and practical skills to their personal and professional worldview.

The experience of combat operations conducting in the eastern part of Ukraine in 2014-2020 convincingly demonstrated the need to increase the requirements for professional training of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Physical training is one of the main subjects of professional training and an important means of psychophysical readiness formation of servicemen of various military specialties for modern extreme professional and combat activities. The aim of the study is to examine the efficiency of the experimental academic program of the discipline of Physical Education, and Special Physical Training concerning the formation of psychophysical readiness of cadets of technical higher military educational institutions for future professional and combat activity. The study was conducted at S. P. Koroliov Zhytomyr Military Institute. 120 male cadets participated in the experiment. An experimental group (EG), which consisted of the cadets who were studying according to the experimental working academic program of the discipline (n=60), and a control group (CG), which included the cadets studying according to the current working academic program of the discipline (n=60) were formed. The criteria of the efficiency of the experimental program are determined to be the indicators of general and special physical fitness of cadets and the level of professionally important psychological qualities. Research methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodical literature, pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics. It was discovered that conducting classes according to the experimental program contributed to the improvement of the level of development of the cadets’ special physical qualities, mastering military-applied skills, the formation of professionally important psychological qualities. The most significant changes in EG cadets occurred in overcoming obstacle course, holding the angle on parallel bars, holding the body in a horizontal position, tests for determination of attention distribution and volume, mental performance – at the end of the experiment, and the indicators of EG cadets were significantly (p˂0.05-0.001) better than those of CG.It proves the necessity of correcting the academic program of Physical Education and Special Physical Training for senior cadets with the aim of their psychophysical readiness formation for future professional and combat activity.

В данной статье проанализировано основное различие понятий учебно-исследовательской и научно-исследовательской деятельности. Основной проблемой является развитие мотивации к учебной научно-исследовательской деятельности учащихся. Выявлено, что на мотивационную готовность студентов к научно-исследовательской деятельности могут оказывать влияние многие факторы, рассмотрено их воздействие. В статье приведены различные студенческие мероприятия, которые могут способствовать повышению мотивации учащихся к исследовательской деятельности. Выявлены, проанализированы научно-исследовательские умения и их компоненты (операционный, содержательный, мотивационный). Реализация в профессиональной подготовке традиционных форм обучения (лекции, лабораторные, практические, семинарские занятия, коллоквиумы, курсовые и дипломные работы, консультации, индивидуальные занятия) помогает овладению учащимися научной информацией, но не всегда способствует формированию необходимых умений и навыков. Очевидно, что внедрение новых теоретических обобщений в учебный процесс (чтение преподавателями проблемных лекций, введение новых теоретических разделов по наиболее актуальным проблемам современной науки, расширение перечня учебной литературы и интернет-источников, освоение новых методик исследования, подготовка мультимедийных презентаций) повысит интерес студентов к исследовательской деятельности. Образовательный процесс будет проходить более успешно, если в вузе сформирована эффективная образовательная и научно-исследовательская среда, направленная на развитие личности студента. This article analyzes the main difference between the concepts of educational research activity and research activity. The main problem is the development of motivation for educational research activities at students. The authors revealed that many factors can influence students’ motivation readiness for research activities; considered the impact of those factors. The article presents various student activities that can help to increase students’ motivation for research activities; identifies and analyzes the research skills and their components (operational, content, motivation). The implementation of traditional forms of education in professional training (lectures, laboratory, practical, seminars, colloquiums, term papers and theses, consultations, individual classes) helps students master scientific information, but does not always contribute to the formation of the necessary skills. It is obvious that the introduction of new theoretical generalizations in the educational process (delivering of problem lectures, introduction of new theoretical units on the most relevant problems of modern science, expanding the list of educational literature and Internet sources, development of new research methods, multimedia presentations) will increase the interest of students in research activities. The educational process will be more successful if the University has an effective educational and research environment aimed at the development of the student’s personality.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought great disruption to health systems worldwide. This affected ongoing clinical research, particularly among those most vulnerable to the pandemic, like dementia patients. Fundació ACE is a research center and memory clinic based in Barcelona, Spain, one of the hardest-hit countries. Objective: To describe the ad-hoc strategic plan developed to cope with this crisis and to share its outcomes. Methods: We describe participants’ clinical and demographic features. Additionally, we explain our strategic plan aimed at minimizing the impact on clinical trial research activities, which included SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR and IgG serological tests to all participants and personnel. The outcomes of the plan are described in terms of observed safety events and drop-outs during the study period. Results: A total of 130 patients were participating in 16 active clinical trials in Fundació ACE when the lockdown was established. During the confinement, we performed 1018 calls to the participants, which led to identify adverse events in 26 and COVID-19 symptoms in 6. A total of 83 patients (64%) could restart on-site visits as early as May 11, 2020. All SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR diagnostic tests performed before on-site visits were negative and only three IgG serological tests were positive. Throughout the study period, we only observed one drop-out, due to an adverse event unrelated to COVID-19. Discussion: The plan implemented by Fundació ACE was able to preserve safety and integrity of ongoing clinical trials. We must use the lessons learned from the pandemic and design crisis-proof protocols for clinical trials.

Licensure examination performance provides an indication of the effectiveness of the curricular program to develop core competencies of students. The study aimed to evaluate the quality of Cebu Technological University’s engineering programs by determining the performance of its graduates in the licensure examinations from 2005 to 2012 and comparing it with the national standard. It also benchmarked its performance with that of the top four private engineering schools of Cebu. Source of data was the Professional Regulation Commission. The result of the study showed that there were no significant differences between the CTU College of Engineering’s performance in the licensure examinations of both Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering as against the National passing performance. There were no significant differences between the performance of CTU and the performance of the top four engineering schools of Cebu in both Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Based on those findings, it can be concluded that the performance of CTU College of Engineering in the licensure examinations is comparable with that of the national standard. It is also comparable with the performances of the top four private engineering schools of Cebu. It is effective in its curricular programs in engineering, competent to provide quality engineering education at par with the top engineering schools of Cebu and the rest of the nation, and capable of producing globally competent engineers.   Keywords - Engineering Education, licensure exam performance, quantitative, t-test, one-way analysis of variance,  Philippines, Asia

The article considers issues related to the formation of scientific and research competence in students of nonlinguistic universities by means of a foreign language. Using a foreign language as a tool for obtaining information of a scientific or professional nature is particularly relevant in the current labour market. The distinctive feature of the new federal standard of higher professional education is its focus not only on the accumulation of knowledge, but also on the formation of the ability to apply knowledge in practice, on the development of certain competences. Therefore, it is necessary to switch from the content to the effectiveness of the educational process. Scientific research work is becoming an important part of a student ‘s professional training. This is one of the key factors of development and active formation of the qualities essential for a would be railway specialist. Creation of knowledge-intensive industries in the field of railway transport changes the requirements to the skills of university graduates. Skills in selecting and analyzing of information, applying it creatively, identifying problems and making management decisions are in demand. Project technology is offered as a tool for forming the research competence among students of railway specialties. The feasibility of this method as an effective way of organizing research activities of students of railway and economic specialties is justified.
