Abstract Instructional technology plays a fundamental and crucial role in facilitating teaching learning process and makes it more effective, interesting and successful. Therefore, the study was conducted to investigate the availability, usability, usefulness and on the other hand barriers to the successful integration of instructional technology in private teacher training colleges in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (Pakistan). The main objectives of the study were to investigate the availability and usability of instructional technology in private teacher training colleges, the usefulness of instructional technology in teacher training programmes, and to find out the main barriers in the way of successful integration of instructional technology in teacher training programs. All the principals, teachers and prospective teachers working and studying in private teacher training colleges in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa constituted as the population of this study. In total, 24 private colleges out of 48 were selected randomly and from each of these colleges, one principal, 5 teachers and 15 prospective teachers were selected randomly as the sample of this ongoing research. The study was descriptive in nature. Three questionnaires were developed for principals, teachers and for prospective teachers as research instruments for the collection of data. After analysis of data, the researcher arrived at the conclusion that most of the important instructional technologies are not available in private teacher training colleges. Teachers do not use even the available instructional technologies into teaching learning process. The researchers noted that poor availability of instructional technologies is the main barrier to the technology integration. In addition, lack of technical and administrative support, lack of funding, lack of necessary skills and knowledge, excessive electricity failures, lack of training opportunities, and lack of preparation time were also observed during data collection.  Key Words: Teacher Education, Teachers Training Colleges, Instructional Technology, Barriers to the successful integration of instructional technology

Educational technology plays a fundamental role in enhancing teaching learning process. It has facilitated instructional process and made it more effective, dynamic and productive (Suleman, et al. 2012). The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of the multimedia in the development of teachers training institutes at tertiary level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The objectives of the study were; (a) to find out the effects of multimedia on the educational attainment of prospective teachers at tertiary level (b) to determine whether teaching through multimedia is more effective than the traditional method of teaching at tertiary level (c) to examine the effects of multimedia on the educational attainment of higher and low achievers (d) to investigate whether the prospective teachers can retain the learning for a longer time when they taught through multimedia and (e) to make workable recommendations to enhance the teaching learning process through multimedia and other educational technologies. All the prospective teachers studying in public and private teachers training institutes at tertiary level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa constituted the population of the study. The study was delimited to the prospective teachers of Kohsar Public Schools and College Latamber (Karak) and Hussan Model Degree College Chokara (Karak) studying at B.Ed level. The study was further delimited to the subject of Teacher Education. Forty prospective teachers of B.Ed level from these two institutions were selected as sample of the study. Sample prospective teachers were divided into two groups i.e. control group and experimental group on the basis of pre-test. Each group was comprised of 20 prospective teachers. The study was experimental in nature therefore pre-test and post-test research design was used as research instrument. After statistical analysis of the data, the researchers arrived at the results that multimedia plays a fundamental role in teaching of teacher training programmes at tertiary level. Multimedia was found to be more effective in clarifying difficult concepts of the prospective teachers. The students of experimental group showed extraordinary performance as compared to the students of control group. On the basis of the findings, it is strongly recommended that provision of multimedia should be ensured and utilized in teachers training institutes at tertiary level..Keywords: Effectiveness, Multimedia, Development, Teacher Training Institutes, Tertiary Level

Starting from 2011, year of the publication in Italy of Alain Berthoz's book on simplexity, an articulated theoretical reflection involved part of the Italian scientific community stimulating an inter-transdisciplinary debate that has generated "non-linear" trajectories of research within the educational field. In particular, the transposition of the theory of simplexity in the teaching-learning process, by postulating an idea of teaching based on a metacognitive approach, has led to the hypothesis of a teacher training model able to promote the exercise of "non-linearity" within the didactic field through the use of simplex properties and principles. In the wake of these reflections, the work presented below describes the results of a study aimed at assessing the reliability of an instrument for measuring the construct of simplexity within the didactic field starting from a specific research experience carried out during training courses for support teachers which were held at the University of Bergamo in 2017
