The role of parents was seen as the missing link in provision of infrastructural facilities leading to achievement of desirable performance as the government fulfilled her mandate of providing free education through the Free Day Secondary Education funds. Descriptive survey design was used. The study population included 20 principals, 184 teachers, 776 parents and 776 students. The respondents who were sampled through purposive, incidental and random sampling method included principals, parents, teachers’ and form four students. The study shows there was a significant relationship between Provision of Infrastructural Facilities and students’ performance (R = .594; p < .001). The results of the regression indicated that parents’ participation in provision of Infrastructural Facilities explained 35.2% of the variance in students’ performance (R2 =.352, F (1, 239) = 130.105, p < .001). It was found that parents’ participation in provision of Infrastructural Facilities significantly predicted performance of MFIs (B = .376; p < .001). By replacing the significant coefficients into the equation connecting parents’ participation in provision of Infrastructural Facilities with students’ performance, the equation becomes Y=24,768+ 0.376X2 +:έ. Library, toilets and laboratory in day secondary schools were found to be inadequate hence affecting their performance. The study recommends that parents should be involved in infrastructure development secondary schools as this could influence academic achievement.

Cleft lip and palate are congenital abnormalities that occur in children. Success in the management and treatment of this disorder requires the role of parents. However, often parents are embarrassed and have low self-esteem, so it would interfere with the success process of treatment and child care with clefts. This study aimed to determine the parents’ self-esteem of children with cleft lip and palate in the Yayasan Pembina Penderita Celah Bibir dan Langit-langit  (YPPCBL) Bandung. This research was a descriptive quantitative study. The study population was parents of children with cleft lip and palate. A total of 30 respondents participated in this study which was chosen with total sampling method. Parental self-esteem was measured using modified instruments based on Coopersmith's theory, with validity values of r = 0.977 and Cronbach's α = 0.989. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution. The results showed 18 respondents (60%) had high self esteem and 12 respondents (40%) with low self esteem. This research would be an evaluation material for YPPCBL Bandung in maintaining and improving parents' self-esteem of children having clefts. With high self-esteem, it is potential for nurses to increase parental participation as a primary caregiver of children with clefts, it would also improve the success of care and children’s quality of life.

The government of Kenya allocates between 35 to 40 percent of the total budget to education. It is essential that public funds be directed effectively and used for the purposes for which they are allocated for. This study was therefore set to establish the perceptions of stakeholders on the effect of financial mismanagement on physical facilities in public secondary schools in Gucha district. The study employed a descriptive survey design. The study population consisted of 126 headteachers, 126 heads of departments, 126 Board of governors‟ chairpersons, 126 bursars, 1011 teachers, and 10 quality assurance officers. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 5 boarding schools, 37 day schools, 42 headteachers, 42 Bursars, 42 heads of departments, 42 BOG chairpersons, 337 teachers while purposive sampling was used to select 10 quality assurance and standards officers. Data was collected by the use of questionnaire, interviews schedule, Focus group discussions and observation forms. Data collected were analyzed using both Quantitative and qualitative methods. The study established that financial mismanagement had adversely affected physical facilities. From the study it was concluded that mismanagement had affected the quality of education negatively. Based on the findings of the study it therefore emerged the need for financial training for all stakeholders involved in financial management directly and indirectly.

Secondary school support staffs are less satisfied with their posts in general, their contracts and conditions of employment, working arrangements for their post, training and development opportunities available to them are always demoralizing them. Going by the foresaid conditions of work, this study was set to analyze of working conditions of support staff in public secondary schools in Nyamira County, Kenya. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The specific objective of the study was to: examine the working conditions of the support staff in public secondary schools. The study population consisted of 170 public secondary schools, 170 principals, 172 deputy principals and 170 BOM chairpersons with 1020 support staff, totaling to 1532. Simple random and stratified sampling techniques were used to select 16 secondary schools, out of which one principal, six support staff, one deputy principal and the BOM chairperson from each of the sampled schools were selected, making a total sample of 144 respondents for the study. The study established that support staff in Nyamira County work under very poor conditions. The findings reveals that support staff motivation depends on the working conditions set by the principal in a school also influence workers motivation to work. The study recommended that there should be salary increase to support staffs and that the yearly increment should be effected considering the fact that they were few and were doing too much work. Principals should avail adequate working tools.

PurposeDue to its complex nature and influence, an inappropriate organisational culture can be a strong impediment to effective knowledge sharing in an organisation, yet a suitable culture enhances organisational effectiveness. The aim of this study was to elucidate the role of organisational culture in facilitating knowledge sharing in a selected government ministry in Botswana. The role of people, collaboration, trust and rewards was explored to explicate their influence on knowledge sharing.Design/methodology/approachA descriptive survey design was adopted in which a questionnaire was administered to 127 respondents who were sampled from a population of 431 employees of the ministry based at the head office in Gaborone, with 97 questionnaires successfully completed and returned culminating in a 76.4% response rate.FindingsThe findings of the study exposed a significant and positive correlation between organisational culture and knowledge sharing in the government ministry covered in the study, although incidents of ineffective knowledge sharing were detected. Out of the four elements of organisational culture that were examined (people, collaboration, trust and rewards), the correlation analysis revealed a significant and positive relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable in three of the four independent variables under study.Originality/valueThe study identified gaps in managing knowledge and proposed suitable measures which can add value to knowledge-sharing practices within the selected ministry and elsewhere. The findings of the study are critical as they enable the management at the ministry to develop capabilities for improving knowledge-sharing practices.

<p>The unrests witnessed in 2018 reminded Kenyans of past bloody episodes, which, though rare, caused pain, loss and destruction. Several  parents are likely to still be struggling to come to terms with the loss and destruction of those events. Unfortunately, despite several studies that have tried to investigate and recommend solutions for these menaces, this is still freshly being experienced in the country. This scenario informed the study with the purpose of investigating the role of school politics in management of unrests in public secondary schools in  Kenya. The study was guided by conflict theory and theory of symbolic interactionism, and a descriptive survey design with a target population of the 57 public secondary schools in Taita Taveta County, Kenya. The sample consisted of 194 headteachers, heads of departments and Board of Management members. Stratified random sampling was used to select respondents. The study used a questionnaire and interviews to collect data. The purpose of this study, namely to obtain empirical evidence that the implementation of corporate governance affect the performance of “Bank Perkreditan Rakyat” ( rural banks), and the role of local culture “Tri Hita Karana “to the BPR’s performance. The population is all BPR located in Badung and Denpasar. The samples using purposive sampling method. The data in this study were collected using a questionnaire are distributed directly to the object of research. “BPR” number into the sample in this study was 65 Banks. Data analyzed by model Multiple Regression Analysis. The research result show that the principles of corporate governance and the local cultural effect on the performance of BPR in Badung and Denpasar. “Bank Perkreditan Rakyat”. The implication of the study is important for the government to solve the economic problem using Corporate Governance and Tri Hita Karana concept.

This study seeks to look at the relationships among teachers’ academic qualification, availability of quality resources and the performance of students in Mathematics, English and Integrated science of Basic Schools at Kwahu-East in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The authors used a descriptive survey design which adopted the questionnaire, interview and observation in the collection of data. The authors used stratified random sampling in selecting 180 teachers whereas purposive sampling was used in selecting 27 headteachers and District Education Officers which used the Pearson correlation in the analysis. The study revealed that a teacher’s academic qualification obtained through education had no significant relationship with student’s academic performance in the respective subjects being measured by this study. The authors recommend that the Government of Ghana concentrate on providing continuing professional development (CPD) programmes that concentrate on practical situations in the schools and channel more resources to schools.

It is a qualitative research with datacollection methods (observation, interview, documentation), thenanalyzed using descriptive methods (by recording and reviewing allresults of data obtained from various sources, case studies, comparativestudies, time and motion studies, behavior analysis) and the object ofthis research was chosen by purposive sampling method. The results ofthis study get clarity that the importance of the role of parents inshaping personality, including: good time management, smile,greetings, and familiarize good behaviour. The role of parents inshaping morality includes: always remember to die, fear of Allah,always reminding that everything we have can not be taken into theafterlife-world except our valuable knowledge that we had done in life,shadaqah jariyah, and the prayer of the good children. The importantrole of parents is as the child companion, as a preacher and qudwahhasanah (good role model), controller, motivator, mediator, technicalmanager of children in every process of child development, especiallyin aspects of personality and morals.

The discussion about development discourse in a country talking about how an idea affect economic policies. In Indonesia, the development discourse continues to change depending on the ruling regime. After the reformation, the dominant discourse is a neoliberal one that minimizes the role of the state in development. During the reign of Jokowi-JK, however, the role of the state strengthened. The government plans to build a massive infrastructure of the physical economy. The government legitimized its choice of action as the implementation of the Pancasila and Trisakti ideologies. Using the theories of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe, this article argues that the state legitimizes its policies as implementing ideology by building infrastructure development discourse, but covers only pragmatic practices that occur. The practices themselves are pragmatic because the government ignored the fate and rights of citizens affected by infrastructure development.

Sexual violence in children case happens most in age 6-12 years. Impact of sexual violence in children is post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and revictimizations in adulthood. Role of parents in prevention sexual violence is very important because parents is the people closest to the child. The Purpose of this study is to get an overview of parents roles to prevention sexual violence in children at SDN 061 Cijerah Bandung Kulon Bandung. This study used quantitative descriptive method with samples 141 of parents at SDN 061 Cijerah from populations 530 students and used accidental sampling method.  The instrument used is a quistionnaire by researcher combined prevention sexual violence based on government program PANTS with role of parents based on BKKBN. Reability of this study has a alfa cronbach of 0,918. Data analysis used with calculate cut of point from each role of parents and categorize to good roles or less good roles. The results of this study showed that of  141 parents in general that is 93,6% had good roles. The role of parents as educators 88,7% parents had good role as educators. For incentive 90,8% had good role as incentive. For role models, 91,5% parents be a good role models.  As supervisor 85,1% parents be a good supervisors. For counselor 91,5% parents had good role as counselors. For comunicator 72,3% had good role as comunicators.
