Lisianthus (Eustoma grandiflorum (Raf.) Shinn) is favored in decoration because of its long-lasting and colorful flowers. The objective of the experiment was to evaluate the effects of different levels of nitrogen on the growth and development of three Lisianthus cultivars pot-planted in Ho Chi Minh City. The experiment was laid out in split - plot design (SPD) with four levels of nitrogen (3; 4; 5; 6 g/pot) being the main factor and three Lisianthus cultivars (Pink; Yellow; White/Purple) being the subordinate factor. Each pot was planted with one plantlet. The results indicated that plants applied with 4.0 g nitrogen per pot gave the best performance in plant height (18.41 cm) and number of leaves (24.08 leaves/plant) at 60 days after planted (DAP). The Pink cultivar reached the highest plant height (19.92 cm), number of leaves (43.53 leaves/plant) as well as number of flowers buds (12.31 buds/plant). The Pink cultivar, when applied with 4.0 g nitrogen/pot, gave the highest plant height (21.38 cm) at 60 DAP.

Lisianthus (Eustoma grandiflorum (Raf.) Shinn) is a favorable flower plant for decoration year-around, especially during New Year holiday. This experiment was conducted in order to evaluate influences of five substrates and three concentrations of foliar fertilizer on growth and development of Lisiathus in Ho Chi Minh City. The obtained results indicated that the plants which were grown best on the substrate mixture of 30% cow dung : 40% coco peat : 20% rice husk ash : 10% soil had better plant height (46.06 cm), number of leaves (63.30 leaf/plant), number of flower buds (14.20 buds/plant) and number of flower (6.17 flowers/plant) than the other treatments. Lisianthus grown on the substrate mixture of 30% cow-dung : 40% coco peat : 20% rice husk ash : 10% soil mixed foliar fertilizer Dau Trau MK 30-10-5 at a concentration of 2.0 g/L was highest in the plant height (46.80 cm) and number of leaves (66.00 leaves/plant). However, the number of flower buds and number of flowers were 15.47 buds/plant and 7.53 flowers/plant, respectively when Lisianthus was grown on substrate 30% cow-dung : 40% coco peat : 20% rice husk ash : 10% soil mixed foliar fertilizer at a concentration of 1.0 g/L.

This study aimed to: (1) identify the interaction effect between varieties and mixed doses of urea + ZA on the growth and yield of shallots in Ultisol soil; (2) to identify the effect of each shallot varieties and the dosage mixture of urea + ZA which produce the highest yield in Ultisol soils. The research was conducted from April to June 2019 in Tungkaran Village, Martapura, with a split plot design. The main plot was shallot varieties (V) with three levels, namely Biru Lancor (v1), Bima Brebes (v2), and Super Philip (v3). Subplots were a mixture of urea + ZA (P) with four levels, namely 0 kg urea + 600 kg ZA (p1), 100 kg urea + ZA 400 kg (p2), 200 kg urea + 200 kg ZA (p3), and 300 urea kg + ZA 0 kg (p4). Each experiment was repeated three times. Therefore, there were 36 experimental units. Observation parameters included plant height, number of leaves per clump, number of bulbs per clump, fresh bulbs' weight per clump, and yield of stored dry bulbs. The results showed that the Bima Brebes variety (v2) had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, number of bulbs per clump, the weight of fresh bulbs per clump, and yield of stored dry bulbs. The mixture of 200 kg urea + 200 g ZA (p3) significantly affected plant height, number of leaves, number of tubers per clump, the weight of fresh tubers per clump, and yield of stored dry tubers.

The conventional propagation method using ginger rhizome being slow, a suitable method of raising ginger seed material in portrays has been devised by Indian Institute of Spices Research and Kerala Agricultural University. The advantages of this technology are production of healthy uniform planting materials and reduction in seed rhizome quantity which eventually reduced cost on rhizomes. The experiment was carried out in the Instructional Farm, College of Agriculture, Vellayani during April 2016 to January 2017. The ginger variety used was Karthika. Field experiment was laid out in split plot design with four levels of mulches in main plots and fertilizer levels in sub plots with four replications. Two nodded rhizome bits of ginger cultivar was raised in protrays were transplanted at 55 days in beds taken in the interspaces of coconut. Plants that received M1 (30 t ha1) in main plot resulted in maximum plant height, number of tillers, number of leaves/plant shoot weight, fresh yield and dry yield treatment T2 (150:100:100 kg ha1 and their interaction (m1t2) also resulted in highest plant height, number of tillers, number of leaves/plant, shoot weight, fresh yield and dry yield on all periods of observation The results of the study indicated that ginger transplants intercropped in coconut garden, that mulching @ 30 t ha1 ( half at transplanting and half 2 MAT) along with 150:100:100 kg NPK ha-1 and basal application of 30 t ha-1 of farm yard manure could be recommended for higher yield and growth.

An experiment was conducted to assess the effect of different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on Gladiolus yield of cultivar (cv.) Jester in Ilam municipality-2 Fulgachi, Ilam. The research was conducted at the Department farm of Bachelors of Science in Horticulture and Floriculture Management (B.Sc. HFM), Ilam from April to September 2014. The experiment consisted of twelve treatment combinations laid out in factorial randomized complete block design with three replications. Four levels of nitrogen 0 kg, 50 kg, 100 kg and 150 kg/ha were experimented as the first factor and three levels of phosphorous 0 kg, 50 kg and 100 kg/ha formed were taken as the second factor which comprised of twelve treatment combinations. Nitrogen and phosphorous significantly affected plant height, number of leaves per plant, spike length, days to first cutting, days to last cutting and yield (number of corm per plant) of Gladiolus plant.

The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during July to November 2016 to investigate the performance of separated tillers of hybrid rice variety Dhani Gold. The experiment comprised three times of tiller transplantation viz. 3, 4 and 5 week aged tiller seedlings and four levels of number of tiller seedlings transplanted hill-1 viz. 2, 3, 4 and 5 tiller seedlings hill-1 laid out in a split plot design with 3 replications. The highest plant height was obtained when 3-week aged tiller seedlings were transplanted at the rate of 3 tiller seedlings hill-1. The highest number of total tillers hill-1 and number of effective tillers hill-1 were found when 3-week aged tiller seedlings were transplanted with 5 tiller seedlings hill-1. The highest grains panicle-1 was obtained when 4-week aged tiller seedlings were transplanted with 5 tiller seedlings hill-1. The highest grain yield was found when 3-week aged tiller seedlings were transplanted with 5 tiller seedlings hill-1. The lowest grain yield was found when 5-week aged tiller seedlings were transplanted with 2 tiller seedlings hill-1 in hybrid rice variety Dhani Gold. Based on the findings of the present study it may be concluded that 3-week old tiller seedlings of Dhani Gold should be transplanted at the rate of 4 or 5 tiller seedlings hill-1 for higher yield. Thus present study confirms the potentiality of growing hybrid rice from separated tillers in case of unavailability of seedlings or to minimize the seed cost of high value hybrid rice seeds. Passionflower is a member of Passifloraceae family, it can be used as medicinal and ornamental plants in addition to its consumption as fruit in the world. Guava (Psidium guajava L.) fruits, which has a rich nutrient content, are consumed both fresh and processed. Passionfruit and guava plants, which can only be cultivated in temperate southern coasts in our country, have gained commercial importance because of the fruits' export potential, high medical importance and nutrient. This study was carried out to determine the effects of some bioactivator applications on the criteria of sapling growth and development of passionflower and guava plants. The experiment was conducted between 2018-2019 under greenhouse conditions. Saplings obtained from seed germination in Akdeniz University Faculty of Agriculture Research and Experiment Area were used as plant material. 3 different commercial preparations called Messenger, Crop-set and ISR-2000 were used as bioactivators. Plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm) and number of leaves (number / plant) were measured weekly, in order to determine the effect of the applications on the growth and development of saplings. At the end of the study, it was determined that the highest average plant height (10.17 cm), stem diameter (13.53 mm) were obtained in ISR-2000 application. The highest average plant height (11.93 cm), stem diameter (16.44 mm) and number of leaves (9.07 units / plant) were obtained from Messenger application in guava plant. When the results obtained are evaluated, it is recommended that ISR-2000 bioactivator can be applied in passionflower sapling cultivation and Messenger bioactivator can be applied for guava sapling cultivation.

A pot experiment was conducted to determine the effect of zinc and nitrogen on growth, nodulation pattern and yield of cowpea. The treatments were four levels of nitrogen ( 0 , 10, 20 and 30 kg/ha) and four levels of zinc (0, 5, 10 and 15 kg/ha). Application of various levels of nitrogen significantly increased dry matter production/plant , plant height number of branches/ plant, effective nodules/ plant, total nodule / plant, effective nodules weight /plant, pods/plant , seeds/pod and grain yield. Similarly zinc significantly increased plant height, branches / plant, number of leaves/plant, dry matter /plant, effective nodules weight /plant and grain yield. There was no significant interaction between nitrogen and zinc on grain yield.

Melon are one of the most popular fruit commodities, but, despite the demand, its production in Indonesia has declined. One measure that can be used to optimize the quality of melon fruit is to trim off the leaf buds and arrange the position of fruiting on the stem, and this study, using the golden melon cultivar ‘Apollo,’ aimed to identify the effects of leaf bud trimming and fruit position arrangement in improving the quantity and quality of the fruit harvest. The experiment was conducted from March to May 2018 in the greenhouse of Food Crop and Horticulture Agribusiness Development (UPT Pengembangan Agribisnis Tanaman Pangan dan Hortikultura), in Lebo, Sidoarjo, Indonesia. It was based on a split-plot design, with leaf bud trimming as the main factor, consisting of two groups (trimming or not trimming), and fruit positions as the secondary factor, consisting of four stages, all repeated at four different time intervals. A correlation was found between leaf bud trimming and fruit position arrangement toward the number of leaves. However, the treatments did not affect the growth and yield of the plants, but did have a significant effect on fruit weight, sweetness, and volume. It was concluded that trimming off the leaf buds and arranging the fruiting position on golden melon plants can increase the quality of fruits, with the treatment involving trimming combined with arranging fruiting on the twelfth–thirteenth segment showing the best results.

This work evaluated the development of colored cotton submitted to irrigation water of different salinity levels and organic matter doses from tanned manure. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 4 x 4 factorial scheme with 3 replications, totaling 48 experimental plots. The factors studied were 4 doses of organic matter (1, 4, 7 and 10%) and four levels of irrigation water salinity (0.26; 1, 2 and 4 dS m-1). The variables analyzed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, number of fruits and fresh shoot mass. Significant effect of organic matter was observed on all studied variables, with a positive response on the increase of all variables as a function of increasing doses of organic matter. The isolated effect of salinity was significant for all parameters evaluated, except for the number of leaves, with significant reductions of 6.03; 3.27; 5.23; 6.94% in the parameters: plant height, stem diameter, number of fruits and shoot fresh weight respectively, for each unit increase of irrigation water salinity. The interaction between the variation sources studied had a significant effect only for fresh shoot mass, where the highest average for this parameter was observed at 10% organic matter dosage at irrigation water salinity level of 1.0 dS m-1.
