A Model of the Relationships Among Emotional Intelligence, Spiritual Intelligence, and Holistic Individual Characteristics Among Malaysian Adolescents

Adolescents are the future, yet they are faced with many challenges in navigating their life. The present cross-sectional study was conducted to examine the relationship of Emotional Intelligence and Spiritual Intelligence to Holistic Individual Characteristics among Malaysian adolescents. A sample of 395 Form Four students were selected using the stratified random sampling method. Two survey questionnaires adopted and adapted from established scales were used to collect data. A pilot study was done to test the reliability and validity of the resultant adapted scales. Data from the main study was analysed for descriptive statistics using IBM SPSS version 27. The data were also analysed using the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) methodology with IBM Amos version 27 as the tool. All measurement models were validated through the pooled confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). A second order CFA done confirmed that Emotional Intelligence and Spiritual Intelligence were important component factors of Holistic Individual Characteristics. The fitness indices achieved the required level, specifically, the value of RMSEA= 0.041, GFI=0.982, CFI=0.980, TLI=0.970, CMIN/DF=1.645 and P= 0.037; while the b values showed that the most important component factor was Emotional Intelligence (b= 0.794) as compared to Spiritual Intelligence (b= 0.774). This study findings lend evidence to the importance of these constructs in shaping the holistic individual among Malaysian adolescents. It can help relevant authorities and parents to actually focus their efforts in developing the younger generation. Besides that, this study finding also helps to fill in the gap of theoretical knowledge in the area of emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence in relation to holistic individual development as well as in terms of its methodology of analysis.

Background and Purpose:The purpose of this study was to test the reliability and validity of the conceptual model of critical care nursing using the Nursing Activities Score (NAS) for intensive care unit (ICU) patients.Methods:An observational study conducted in 2011 using the NAS scores of 219 patients in Norway. The inter-rater reliability (IRR) was tested by parallel classifications. The validity was explored by an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) as the measurement models in the structural equation model.Results:Within the paired ratings the Spearman's correlation coefficient was 0.39. The EFA results explained 77% of the variance with six factors. The reduced CFA model resulted in a three-factor model: relationship, prevention and treatment. Conclusion: The findings supported the IRR and construct validity of the conceptual model of the NAS.

Abstract: This study aimed to reassess the psychometric properties of the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC) adapted to Portuguese for use in the Brazilian context. An observational, cross-sectional study was performed in a large, private, non-profit, acute care hospital, reference in patient safety, in a major Brazilian metropolis. Participants were selected from a non-probability sample of all eligible personnel in the various hospital departments invited to participate in the study. Reliability of the HSOPSC was assessed by estimating Cronbach’s alpha for each dimension. confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), a matrix of correlations between the dimensions, and exploratory structural equation modelling (ESEM) were used in exploratory and confirmatory analyses of the structural validity of the construct. The overall response rate was 18.7% (n = 1,439). Four dimensions (“overall perceptions of patient safety”; “staffing”; “teamwork across units”; and “non-punitive response to error”) returned problems of internal consistency. CFA returned acceptable fit with the original 12-dimension model. Correlations between the dimensions of the original 12-dimension model indicated discriminant validity problems, while residual variance was greater than 0.70 in 13 items. The ESEM of the original 12-dimension model returned good fit, with the following indices: CFI = 0.985; TLI = 0.968, and RMSEA = 0.026 (90%CI: 0.024-0.029). Although better than those of the first evaluation, the results obtained in this validity and reliability reassessment of the Brazilian version of the HSOPSC require further research.

Office occupants’ have always preferred workplaces that have windows that connects them to the outside. Window access to the outside can influence occupants’ satisfaction with the combination of other workplace features. This study aims to identify the window and view factors relationship in the workplace, to confirm the reliability and validity of the measurement and structural model. Adopting a cross-sectional survey design, primary data from five offices in the Kogi State of Nigeria with 267 respondents were collected by using the convenience sampling method and analysis was performed with the Statistical Package for Social Science version 23 and AMOS 22.0 version as the modelling tool. The study identified eleven vital factors that are interrelated in the relationship between windows and view in the workplace. They are referred to as latent construct namely; Window distance (WDB), Seating arrangement (SAB), Room height (FHB), Office size (OSB), Window position (WPB), Window Sill level (WLC), Window size (SWC), Window type (TWC), View content (CVC), View satisfaction (VSC), and Occupants’ satisfaction (SAT). The result showed a valid model using the Structural Equation Model, and the effect of the current workplace negligence on occupants’. This study improves the existing knowledge on the window and view relationship in the workplace, and provide suggestions for Facility Managers, Architects, and Interior Designers on maintaining a healthy workplace environment

This study developed a Structural Equation Model (SEM) in order to identify the associations between motivational climate, emotional intelligence, adherence to the Mediterranean Diet (MD), Physical Activity (PA), and some health indicators in a sample of future teachers. A non-experimental and cross-sectional study was carried in 775 university students (22.22 ± 3.76), using as main scales the Perceived Motivational Climate in Sport Questionnaire (PMCSQ-2), Emotional Intelligence Inventory adapted for the sport context, Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents (PAQ-A), Mediterranean Diet Quality Index (KIDMED), 20 meter Shuttle Run Test (20mSRT), and percentage of lean and fat mass as calculated by the Tanita TBF300®® (Tanita-Corporation, Tokyo, Japan) electronic scale. The results showed a positive association between emotional intelligence and task climate, whereas the relationship with an ego climate was low. Ego-oriented climate was positively related to MD and high levels of PA. Emotional intelligence was directly related to higher levels of PA and the level of adherence to MD. PA was negatively associated with fat mass and positively with lean mass and VO2MAX. Task-oriented motivational climate showed a positive relation with the emotional intelligence of young people. Ego-oriented motivational climates were related to higher rates of physical-sport engagement and better diet quality.

Drawing on the resource-based view, this paper seeks to examine the influence of employee competencies on organizational performance using a sample of 325 managerial and non-managerial employees working in Indian public and private sector banks. The study employed a cross-sectional research design, and the data were collected through a structured questionnaire using convenience sampling. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to check the reliability and validity of the dimensions, and the proposed hypotheses were tested by using structural equation modelling. The results indicated a positive and significant impact of selected employee competencies on organizational performance except for self-competence, which showed an insignificant and negative effect. The study is of immense potential to help policy and decision-makers of the Indian banking industry to develop and implement strategies for improving employee competencies, which, in turn, are instrumental in enhancing organizational performance. This study is a unique attempt to examine the impact of various employee competence dimensions on organizational performance, particularly in the Indian banking industry.

Objective The aim of this study was to introduce the VaccinaTion & Hpv Knowledge (THinK) questionnaire to assess knowledge about human papillomavirus (HPV) and attitude to HPV-vaccination. Its reliability and validity was demonstrated in a sample of women living in Sicily (southern Italy). Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted on a sample of 220 women at the “Paolo Giaccone” University Hospital in Palermo (Sicily), aged 18–61. Data were analyzed through Cronbach’s alpha and exploratory factor analysis, followed by a structural equation model with measurement component. The two-level data structure was explicitly considered. Results Three dimensions were found: “knowledge of HPV infection (kHPV), “Attitude to be vaccinated against HPV (aHPV)” and “Knowledge about vaccines (KV)” (97% overall explained variance). Internal consistency was good for the whole questionnaire (0.82) and the first dimension (0.88) and acceptable for the second (0.78) and the third dimension (0.73). 23% of women showed no or little knowledge of HPV and 44.3% of women had no or little knowledge about HPV induced lesions. Discussion The use of a validated questionnaire may serve as a useful measure to assess general knowledge about HPV and attitude towards vaccination against HPV in the primary prevention setting.

The lack of consumer trust in green residences is an important reason why the green residential market is difficult to promote. According to the consumer theory and trust building model, structural equation model (SEM) of the factors affecting the trust of green residences is established. According to the questionnaire of 368 consumers in Xi’an, China, the reliability and validity of the original data are analyzed by SPSS data analysis software, and SEM model is processed by AMOS analysis software to obtain the key influencing factors of consumer trust in green residences. The results show that individual characteristics, green residential knowledge, green residential information, environmental responsibility awareness, perceived value, and institutional evaluation are important factors influencing consumer trust. Individual characteristics, environmental responsibility awareness, and institutional evaluation significantly positively affect consumer trust at the 1% level; green residential knowledge and green residential information significantly positively affect consumer trust at the 5% level; perceived value negatively affects consumer trust at the 1% level. The research results can provide an important reference for enhancing consumer trust and promoting the green residences.

Purpose – The main purpose of this article is to study the influence of cognitive tasks on mentoring provided and the moderating influence of professional teacher education. Design/methodology/approach – This cross-sectional survey was based on a questionnaire that was sent to a total of 435 employees from 29 pre-schools in Norway. A total of 284 responses were returned, a response rate of 65.3 per cent. Two research hypotheses were formulated. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to develop three measurement models and structural equation modelling (SEM) based on multi-group analysis was used to test the hypotheses. Findings – The results revealed that cognitive tasks increase the occurrence of mentoring provided at work and professional teacher education moderates this relationship. Research limitations/implications – The use of convenience sampling and self-reports are discussed, especially related to representativeness and reporting biases. Practical implications – The findings implicate a need for increased interdisciplinary co-operation both at work and in the teacher education. Originality/value – This is an under-studied area and no previous research has used a confirmatory approach to investigate how cognitive tasks and professional education influence the occurrence of mentoring provided.

Purpose Students’ use of blogging tools in learning environments is increasing across the world. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the literature by examining the effects of relevant factors that engender satisfaction and positive impacts of the technology for learning. Design/methodology/approach A cross-sectional survey was used to collect data from 108 undergraduate students taking a management information systems course. The partial least squares technique of structural equation modelling was used to test the reliability and validity of the data, and the study’s hypothesised relationships or paths. Findings This study revealed that perceived enjoyment, compatibility, usefulness, ease of use, and confirmation have positive influence on students’ satisfaction with blog use. Perceived enjoyment had the greatest influence on students’ satisfaction with blog use for learning. Perceived impact on learning was positively influenced by perceived ease of use, enjoyment, and satisfaction. Originality/value A limited amount of empirical research has focussed on students’ perceptions of satisfaction and perceived impact on learning through blog use in higher educational contexts. This study adds to the growing literature in this area of study.

Due to globalization and uncertainty in business environment, organizations need to adapt and update their knowledge to remain competitive and innovative and to enhance their productive level. Moreover, Emotional intelligence is vital and accountable factor that determine the victory in life. Such factor plays a significant part in workplace by influencing the collaboration between managers and employees. However, present study is undertaken to scrutinize the influence emotional intelligence, knowledge management on the performance level of organization with mediating role of organizational learning. Current study is descriptive and cross-sectional. Sample size is 150 and simple random sampling method is used. Questionnaire survey method has used. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) used to support and prove the hypothesis statistically. Results of study enlightened that there is significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence, and organizational performance. Moreover, knowledge management also significantly associated with organizational performance. Furthermore, findings revealed that organizational learning significantly and partially mediates the relationship between emotional intelligence and performance as well as knowledge management and organizational performance. Therefore, Emotional Intelligence and Knowledge are important inputs and organizational learning is the key practice, which enhances the performance and output of any organization.
