This paper is based on two studies of mandatory online learning which although unrelated and conducted eight years apart nevertheless provide an illuminating comparison of mandatory training delivered online. The first study was carried out in 2002 in a state government department and the second in 2010 with the commercial construction industry, both in Western Australia. The key findings from both studies are that learning outcomes mirror the learning goals that are imposed and legitimized by the organization or industry. Mandatory learning is often transmissive learning that may not have transformative effects and online training may be open to abuse because it lacks the controls necessary to ensure that those registering actually are the ones that complete the training.

The deaths of three young “backpackers” on Perth building sites is the starting point for this investigation of an industry that is ranked the third most dangerous in Western Australia. All were on a working holiday. They were unskilled, untrained and underpaid, revealing aspects of the construction industry since the beginning of the twenty-first century. The article suggests these fatalities are occurring, despite OHS reforms and mandatory training, because the decline of trade union rights and presence on work sites has led to inadequate policing and enforcement of safety measures. Deregulation and employers’ over-emphasis on productivity have resulted in an unskilled, casual workforce and a culture of blaming individual employees rather than management, which has created a climate of fear where those who draw attention to safety breaches risk losing their jobs. The article considers arguments for introducing industrial manslaughter legislation, but the evidence suggests that the most effective solutions are to restore union rights. This would encourage a culture in which workers have a voice, and pointing out safety breaches on sites could be rewarded, rather than penalised.

The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of online learning in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic using Classroom and Zoom at MAN 1 Kab. Tangerang and its supporting, inhibiting, and solution factors. This study uses a qualitative approach to understand the phenomena experienced by the research subjects holistically which are described in words and language in a special natural context and by utilizing various scientific methods. The research was conducted from January to d. April 2021. Data were obtained through interviews with informants who were considered to know the problems studied, which were 17 people, consisting of: 1 madrasah principal, 4 PAI subject matter teachers, 9 students, and 3 parents/guardians of students. Data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of data analysis were carried out through data reduction activities, data display, and data verification. The results showed that: First, the online learning plan carried out by the teacher went through five stages, namely: 1) recognizing students and initial competencies, 2) setting learning goals/competencies to be achieved, 3) determining the learning platform used, 4) determining the material , methods, media, and learning resources, and 5) compiling online lesson plans. Second, the implementation of online learning through three steps, namely: 1) carrying out learning according to the lesson schedule, 2) ensuring the presence of students in learning, and 3) carrying out online learning based on the online lesson plans made. Third, the assessment of learning outcomes carried out by teachers refers to the technical guidelines issued by the Decree of the Director General of Education No. 2791/2020 concerning Assessment of Learning Outcomes, namely: 1) referring to the emergency technical guidelines from the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, 2) covering aspects of attitudes, knowledge, and skills, 3) designed to encourage meaningful learning activities and do not measure the completeness of overall curriculum achievements, 4) varies between students according to their respective conditions, 5) proportional / not excessive, and 6) scoring is done. Fourth, online learning can take place because of the support of several factors, namely 1) environmental conditions, 2) available internet network, 3) available internet quota, 4) motivation to master technology, 5) curiosity about online learning applications, and 6) family support. While the inhibiting factors are: 1) some students do not have a free internet network, 2) inadequate devices, 3) lack of mastery of learning applications, 4) lack of motivation, and 5) lack of parental support.

Online learning as one of the impacts of the spread of the corona virus in the education sector must be implemented as an effort to maintain the implementation of education for the realization of the goals of national education. The implementation of online learning holding an important role, especially for students to achieve learning goals with all the impacts such as motivation and learning outcomes. This study is intended to describe the effect of implementing online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic on student learning motivation. This research is a quantitative study involving 254 respondents. The research instrument used a questionnaire in the form of questions packaged through the google form link to measure student motivation towards the implementation of online learning. The analysis of research results used simple linear regression testing equipped with normality tests and linearity tests as prerequisites. Based on the results of data analysis, the regression equation for student learning motivation towards online learning is Y = 16.911 + 0.573 X with t count of 10.574 and the coefficient of determination R2 = 0.307. These results indicate that the implementation of online learning has a positive influence on student learning motivation.

The technology of blended learning is one of the modern trends in education both in the world and in Russia. The article explores the various possibilities of blended learning technology. As a means of implementing online learning, it is proposed to use LMS Moodle, which is widely used among educational organizations. The categorization of the main elements of Moodle from the perspective of the organization of pedagogical control, forms of presentation of teaching materials is presented. Examples of the use of basic resources and elements of Moodle in the educational process are given. The interactive properties of individual elements those allow you to more effectively implement online learning in blended learning technology are revealed. An approach is proposed to understand the essence of blended learning technology as a technology that allows to activate a student’s activities in the framework of full-time education by using online training and transferring (from full-time education) those activities that students are able to implement in the absence of a teacher.

This article aims to determine the influence of online learning with virtual labs on the learning interest of students ' physics and to know the influence of online learning with virtual labs on cognitive learning outcomes of student physics. This type of research is a quasi experiment with the experimental design of one group Pretests posttest. This research sample is a student of class X MIPA 1 which amounted 33 people determined with simple random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study are cognitive learning results test and Angket learning interest learners. Data analysis results can be concluded that there is a virtual lab-assisted online learning influence to the learning interest of learners with a value of sig (2-tailed) smaller than 0.05 (0.0063 < 0.05) and there is a virtual lab-assisted online learning influence to the outcome of the students ' cognitive learning with a sig (2-tailed) value smaller than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05).

Australian construction productivity has grown slowly since 1985 and remains arguably stagnant. The importance of this study is therefore to examine several factors through to be drivers of construction productivity and to understand possible avenues for improvement. The drivers tested are research and development, apprentices, wage growth, unionisation and safety regulation. Expenditure on research and development and the number of apprentices were found to be drivers of productivity growth in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia. These findings are important because collectively, these three states account for a majority of construction activity in Australia.
