The current study sought to explore the experiences of college students who have experienced female-perpetrated sexual assault, and to compare their experiences to those of students assaulted by male perpetrators. A total of 11,165 college students across 11 years completed an online, anonymous survey measuring self-reports of sexual violence, context surrounding their victimization, help-seeking, and well-being. Of the students surveyed, 531 students reported experiencing sexual assault and identified both their own gender and the gender of their perpetrator, and 14% reported having experienced female-perpetrated sexual assault. Victims of female perpetrators were more likely to report their perpetrator being an (ex)intimate partner and less likely to be a stranger. Victims of female perpetrators were also more likely to report that their victimization involved their own drug use. Overall, victims of female-perpetrated sexual assault were less likely to tell anyone about their victimization, or to report to on- or off-campus resources. Finally, our findings suggest that victims of female perpetrators have comparable well-being to victims of male perpetrators. These finding contribute to the overall understanding of female-perpetrated sexual assault.

The optimization of important multidimensional factors is conducive to cognitive engagement, which is a crucial dimension of student engagement and plays a significant role in college students’ learning of the Ideological and Political Theory Course. However, because there are many influencing factors associated with cognitive engagement, the influence mechanism and analysis strategy of this kind of model are relatively complex. In order to solve this research gap, this paper establishes an optimization model affecting Chinese college students’ cognitive engagement in IPTC on the basis of sample collection and investigation. In this process, 4,700 questionnaires were distributed to 47 colleges and universities across the country, and copies were effectively recovered (N = 3992); the effective recovery rate was 84.94%. Cronbach’s alpha of 0.759 indicates that the scale has high reliability and Pearson’s correlation coefficient P  ≤ 0.001 shows that the scale has good validity. The KMO value of 0.703 in the Bartlett sphere test also shows that the scale is suitable for factor analysis. Firstly, according to the method of factor analysis, there are six important factor dimensions affecting college students’ cognitive engagement in the IPTC, namely, attention and motivation factor dimension, behavior and value attainment factor dimension, interest and practicality factor dimension, personality and will factor dimension, evaluation and time factor dimension, and knowledge and strategy factor dimension. Then, through descriptive analysis, it is found that personality and will factor dimension (M = 6.5837) plays a relatively major role while knowledge motivation dimension (M = 6.3505) has a weak impact on cognitive engagement. Finally, from linear regression analysis, there is a significant positive correlation between cognitive engagement and other variables. In addition, undergraduates are slightly lacking motivation in the learning of the course, and vigorously strengthening college students’ cognitive engagement is still necessary, so as to effectively enhance the effectiveness of the IPTC in the future.

With the proliferation of the fifth generation (5G) communication technology, another boom of online education will come, and reshape our traditional learning model. Inspired by the literature on online education platform, this paper establishes a model for the factors affecting the acceptance of online education platform among college students based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), and put forward several hypotheses on the influence of multiple factors over the acceptance. Then, a scientific questionnaire was designed and distributed online to college students. The survey data were subject to descriptive analysis and correlation analysis. The results show that college students have considered online education platforms an important learning tool; the acceptance of online education platform among college students is positively affected by such factors as personal value, course satisfaction, teacher quality, social influence, and self-efficacy. The research results provide a good reference for the development of online education in China.

This study examined the perceived influence of alcohol advertising in a daily campus newspaper on the drinking behaviors of students at a large midwestern university. Data came from two sources: a descriptive analysis of alcohol ads that appeared during a four-week period in the student newspaper and a survey questionnaire. Findings indicated that college students do perceive that their drinking patterns are influenced by alcohol promotions in the campus newspaper and, furthermore, that self-identified binge drinkers were influenced significantly more than were nonbinge drinkers.
