As the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic spreads all over the world, governments of various countries are actively adopting epidemic prevention measures to curb the spread of the disease. However, colleges and universities are one of the most likely places for cluster infections. The main reason is that college students have frequent social activities, and many students come from different countries, which may very likely cause college campuses to be entry points of disease transmission. Therefore, this study proposes a framework of epidemic prevention work, and further explores the importance and priority of epidemic prevention works. First of all, 32 persons in charge of epidemic prevention from various universities in Taiwan were invited to jointly formulate a campus epidemic prevention framework and determined 5 dimensions and 36 epidemic prevention works/measures/criteria. Next, Bayesian best worst method (BWM) was used to generate a set of optimal group criteria weights. This method can not only integrate the opinions of multiple experts, but also effectively reduce the complexity of expert interviews to obtain more reliable results. The results show that the five most important measures for campus epidemic prevention are the establishment of a campus epidemic prevention organization, comprehensive disinfection of the campus environment, maintenance of indoor ventilation, proper isolation of contacts with confirmed cases, and management of immigration regulations for overseas students. This study provides colleges and universities around the world to formulate anti-epidemic measures to effectively reduce the probability of COVID-19 transmission on campuses to protect students’ right to education.

The main objective of this study was to analyze student-perceived teaching styles’ power to predict students’ resilience and the emergence of bullying behaviors in physical education class. A total of 537 students of both sexes, between 11 and 15 years of age, from primary and secondary schools in the province of Alicante (Spain), participated in the study. The design of the study was cross-sectional. The results showed that bullying was positively predicted by students’ perceptions of a more controlling style and negatively by a greater perception of an autonomy-supportive style in physical education classes. Victimization was negatively predicted by greater resilience and positively by students’ perception of a teacher’s more controlling style. Finally, the mediation analysis showed that the perception of autonomy support indirectly and negatively predicted victimization, with resilience acting as a mediator. These findings provide useful information for physical education teachers interested in preventing bullying, and have important practical implications about the teaching style recommended for this purpose.

This chapter presents the potential and challenges of a new approach for the design of a platform aimed to foster and support the use of collaborative techniques in actual educational settings. CeLS is a web-based environment aimed to provide teachers of all subject domains and levels with a flexible tool for creating, enacting and sharing CSCL activities. CeLS special feature is the controllable data flow: the ability to selectively reuse learners‘ artifacts from previous stages according to various Social Settings in order to support design and enactment of rich multi-stage scripts. CeLS offers content free templates and a searchable repository of sample activities previously implemented with students. Teachers can explore these resources and adapt them to suit their needs, or create new scripts from basic building blocks. During the last four years the system was piloted by teachers from 13 Colleges and Universities and by school teachers. The chapter presents CeLS approach focusing on its unique features, examples of activities implemented with students and some insights on teachers as developers of online collaborative activities and as active contributors to the development of the environment.

Under the background of the era with the theme of green development, higher requirements have been put forward for the planning of new campus in colleges and universities. Campus planning under the concept of green emphasizes the ecological green campus model, creates a beautiful and elegant campus environment with outstanding green ecological characteristics, and realizes the green development and sustainable development of new campus in colleges and universities. The campus planning should fully consider the natural landscape, coordinate with the surrounding environment, combine the regional and cultural characteristics, integrate the unique human environment characteristics of traditional campus, and form a unique human campus atmosphere. Based on the terrain and the water body, the planning is supposed to inherit the elements of good campus space and create a unique campus space personality.

The colleges and universities campuses are places which function in teaching and living. Thus the rest space of a campus is one in which students learn and interact with each other culturally. Therefore, the designers should design a place for rest and activities in accordance with the requirement of the campus environment and embracing the characteristic of humanized landscape effect on the basis of adaptation to local conditions. Meanwhile, they should make it as a miniature of campus material civilization, which in some degree reflects the cultural and spiritual connotation so as to design a campus environment of new era full of cultural atmosphere.

The reference class problem in probability theory and the multiple inheritances (extensions) problem in non-monotonic logics are special cases of conflicting beliefs. One popular solution accepted in the two domains is the specificity principle. By analyzing an example, several factors beyond specificity are found to be relevant to the priority of a reference class. A new approach, Non-Axiomatic Reasoning System (NARS), is discussed, where these factors are all taken into account. It is argued that the solution provided by NARS is better than the solutions provided by probability theory and non-monotonic logics.

This article outlines the discussion about the importance of the principle of contingency and the role of the body for education in the humanities, according to Richard Shusterman’s neopragmatist philosophy. The background assumption is that it is not possible, for good or ill, to develop any serious approach or inclusive proposal for an enlightened and critical education – especially for philosophy and the humanities – without a mandatory reference to contingency and to the body, one of the most explicit signals of contingency, under the risk of being rendered sterile and useless when confronted with the dynamics brought about by reality. My perspective on Shusterman’s work is sympathetic to his change – both in method and academic bias – from a pure analytical point of view to a much more existential approach, which resulted in a new, revolutionary and interdisciplinary field: “Somaesthetics”. I sustain that amongst contemporary tendencies Shusterman’s ideas represent some of the richest and most exciting contributions regarding the educational possibilities for an integrated human development. Keywords: Somaesthetics. Humanities. Education. Contingency. Body. Richard Shusterman.
