<p>Higher education continues to evolve, including recent increases in the number of courses offered fully and partially (hybrid) online. Many new technologies have been used to support online education, particularly learning management systems (LMS’s), which serve as the core technology platforms for the online environment. Our research is to use Moodle as an LMS and empirical survey data to investigate what are the factors that influence online assessment and overall satisfaction with online learning. We used an online survey as the method of data collection for this study. The survey questionnaire was sent anonymously to all students who took the online or hybrid course sections at a US university, as well as all faculty who taught those online or hybrid course sections. The research result showed that overall student satisfaction with online learning is significantly affected by how the course is organized and how the content is sequenced, the ease with which students can complete assignments, and the use of the LMS to engage with content.</p>

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many higher education institutes shifted to online learning with the precautionary measures taken by governments. This transition was very rapid and sudden, which brought challenges to all learning methods in all disciplines while opening up new opportunities. Different studies have been carried out to evaluate experiences of online migration and study its effect on stakeholders in education. This paper is aimed to rationally evaluate the transition to online learning in PNU from the student perspective. Five thousand ten student responses to an online survey were collected. The survey results indicate that the majority of students were satisfied by the quality of the delivered courses during this crisis period as they have received adequate support from instructors, IT, and leaders. Moreover, student satisfaction can be explained by the readiness and preparedness of PNU for such circumstances. Indeed, students and instructors are poised to adopt new learning modalities as they were familiar with new technologies and innovation in learning and teaching so far.

To evaluate students’ online learning environments, the relationship between personality and online learning success, and students’ perceptions about online proctoring during mandatory remote delivery due to the pandemic, students responded to an online survey. Learning environments generally included houses and rarely included on-campus housing. The specific room type was predominantly the bedroom. Only conscientiousness was related positively to anticipated semester GPA. The positive relationship between anticipated and overall GPA supports the notion that more conscientious students tend to be successful in online learning situations, as online education was rated as slightly ineffective. A majority of students did not see a need for online proctoring due to the inability or time required to search for materials, which would only harm one’s performance. There is a need to research further the impact of the study environment, relationship of the students’ personality to learning success, and consequences of online proctoring during remote learning.

The quality of online learning mechanisms, widely implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is a significant issue for regional higher education systems. The research aims to assess student satisfaction with the quality of online education by identifying discrepancies between their requirements and the actual learning process. In order to examine the gaps between students’ expectations and perceptions, a new approach was proposed based on the integrated use of Gap analysis and SERVQUAL methodology, combining qualitative and quantitative aspects. SERVQUAL questionnaires for measuring student satisfaction with online learning include the following criteria: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy. Full- and part-time undergraduates of humanitarian and socio-economic departments of two universities participated in the study. Ural Federal University bachelors, learning via Moodle and Microsoft Teams platforms, could directly communicate with their peers and professors, while students of National Research Nuclear University MEPhI were engaged in massive open online courses (MOOC). As a result, all five criteria were analysed in the proposed model for quality assessment of online learning to reveal the gaps between students’ expectations and perceptions of the educational process. Significant discrepancies in the «empathy» and «responsiveness» criteria in both groups demonstrate low student satisfaction with the quality of communication and individualisation of learning. The research findings can be used to construct resource allocation models for implementing educational programmes and developing support measures for regional higher education institutions.

Students’ learning experiences and perceptions are markedly influenced by the use of digital technology during the COVID-19 pandemic. Exploring students’ perception of blended online learning, amid the adaptations of the higher education sector in the wake of uncertainty, has become more critical than ever. This paper reflects on the experience of learning and teaching the Research Methods and Techniques subject in the postgraduate programme of MA Urban Design at Cardiff University during COVID-19 in the UK. To do so, we designed and carried out an online survey to explore students’ perception of online teaching and learning activities, feedback and assessment, and digital platforms based on their experience during the subject delivery period in the 2020–2021 academic year. One of the significant findings of this paper was that students agreed with the impact of eye contact on their virtual learning experience but as long as this was aligned with their rights to see others, including their peers and instructors, rather than reciprocal rights to be seen. In addition, students felt that facilitating synchronous communication through effective interaction among diverse peers has been quite challenging in small-group online reading seminars. The majority of respondents also reported that attending live online lectures was more helpful than watching pre-recorded lectures. Online formative feedback and synchronous interim reviews also allowed students to reflect on their progress and develop their projects further before their summative assessment. The outcomes of this paper can effectively assist educators who consider delivering programmes, adopting a blended online learning environment design model, in the post COVID-19 era. The findings of this study can also provide guidance for further developments and improvements in using digital technology and blended online learning in urban design education and pedagogy.

Nowadays, the ability of the higher education system to adapt to external conditions is facing the challenge of online transformation and digitalization against the background of changes in the format of social relations in the direction of greater pluralism, demassification of information sources, channels and recipients. The relevance of the study lies in the need to assess the consequences of the transition to online communication of teachers and students in order to identify new functional / dysfunctional effects of digitization of the educational environment. The paper represents the results of an online survey (spring – summer of 2020), when the pandemic of the new coronavirus led to the transition to distance learning. The survey was conducted among students of Russian and German universities to identify the attitude of students to online education. Possible unintentional consequences of digitalization of the educational environment were identified. On the basis respondents’ answers, the authors have analyzed emotional attitude of Russian and German students to the compulsory transition to online learning as well as their assessments of its positive and negative aspects. The authors provide ratio of the advantages and disadvantages of online learning in the perception of Russian and German students, highlight some side effects of online communication between teachers and students, as well as the concerns of students caused by the transition to a new communication format. According to students of Russian and German universities, online communication is not beneficial for the quality of education. The increased time spent in front of the computer screen is considered harmful. Besides, students in both countries are concerned with the weakening of social ties and the loss of social contacts.

The research objective is to design of learning evaluation that becomes strategy in the Covid Pandemic 19. The study used qualitative research methods with case studies that construct unique and important special realities through data collection interviews and discussions by using case study analysis. The data was collected through online media such as google meetings as well as direct observation from informants, who were determined by purposive sampling, namely the management and student representatives of study groups at the Open University of Purwokerto City and private education institution of Pakis school in Cilongok District in Banyumas regency, Central Java of Indonesia. The research result that the process of service and implementation of education as well as its evaluation during the Covid-19 pandemic must still take place using adaptation and innovation strategies in the form of online learning media through the application media for the Microsoft Teams and Learning Management System (LMS) program. Implementing innovative learning through online media has been successfully implemented practically and effectively, but there is still a need for special socialization and training on an ongoing basis. Evaluation of services and implementation of education is very important to do to provide program improvement and results and evaluation could be effectively carried out through google form and Learning Management System (LMS).

Background: The outbreak of the deadly disease COVID-19 has shaken the entire world. The pandemic has resulted in a global lockdown affecting all areas of life, including medical education. This has impeded the traditional way of teaching and learning activities and forced educational institutions such as medical universities to shift rapidly to distance and online learning. Aims and Objectives: The aim was to find out the impact of COVID-19 and the perception of undergraduate students of B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) of learning dermatology through online means. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a self-administered online questionnaire. The inclusion criteria were all MBBS third and fourth years students of BPKIHS willing to participate in the study. Result: A total of 151 participants agreed to complete the online survey questionnaire. The overall attitude toward online education was positive. The majority of students agreed that online learning material should be of high quality for online education (66.2%) and that online learning will bring new opportunities for organizing teaching and learning (62.3%). Zoom and Dudal were the most common online tools used by students. The geographic location, lack of past experience in using online tools, and communication barriers such as a poor Internet connection and frequent electricity cutoffs were identified by students as the main barriers to online education. Conclusion: Although the COVID-19 pandemic culminated in the lockdown of medical universities, it provided opportunities for bringing innovations into effect. Such large-scale studies are missing in developing countries such as Nepal, thus further research is needed to explore these possibilities nationwide.

AbstrakPandemi virus Covid-19 pada awal tahun 2020 menyebabkan perubahan sistem pendidikan tatap muka ke sistem pendidikan daring. Berbagai jenis platform pembelajaran daring digunakan, salah satunya melalui sistem pengelolaan pembelajaran, Learning Management System (LMS). Perguruan tinggi di Indonesia telah mengembangkan materi ajar dalam LMS institusi masing-masing namun masih banyak kekurangan yang terdapat di LMS pembelajaran daring tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kebergunaan (usability) sistem tersebut termasuk materi ajar. Penelitian menggunakan strategi kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengamatan visual LMS. Data dianalisis menggunakan evaluasi heuristik dengan studi kasus pada beberapa penyelenggara pembelajaran daring. Interpretasi data diperkuat dengan studi literatur dari penelitian terdahulu. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan permasalahan mayor pada materi ajar yang masih memakai elemen-elemen yang kurang tepat dan dapat menambah beban kognitif mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan beberapa rekomendasi yang dapat dijadikan salah satu pertimbangan dalam perancangan materi pembelajaran daring untuk perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Kata Kunci: evaluasi heuristik, LMS, pembelajaran daring AbstractThe Covid-19 virus pandemic that occurred in early 2020 caused the education system to shift from a face-to-face education system to an online education system. Various types of online learning platforms are used, one of which is through the Learning Management System (LMS). Higher education institutions in Indonesia have developed learning materials in their LMS institutions. However, there are still many inadequacies found in their LMS. The aim of this study is to analyze the usability of the system, including the learning materials. The strategy of inquiry uses qualitative strategies, data collection method is made by visual observation of LMS. Data analysis using heuristic evaluation with case studies on several online learning providers. Data interpretation is strengthened by the study of literature from previous researches. This study found major problems in learning materials that still use elements that are not suitable and can add cognitive loads of students in constructing knowledge. The results of this study provide some recommendations that are expected to be one of the considerations in designing online learning materials for universities in Indonesia.  Keywords: heuristic evaluation, LMS, online learning

Background: The lockdown strategy has been implemented globally to contain the spread of current pandemic of COVID-19. Educational institutes around the globe are facing challenges and online learning is being carried out to avoid face to face contact during lockdown. Students have to adapt entirely new methods of learning through information technology. Objective: To assess the satisfaction level of health science students with online learning and use of internet during Covid-19 lock down in Punjab. Study Design: Cross-sectional survey. Settings: The data was collected from different institutes of Punjab using an online survey. Duration: Three months from May 2020 to July 2020. Methodology: A convenient sample of sample (N) 357 undergraduate medical students were included based on the response submitted through online questionnaire. Volunteer undergraduate students of MBBS, BDS, DPT, and Pharm D were included. The level of satisfaction was measure using Online Learning/Distance Education Questionnaire. Data was evaluated by SPSS version 22. Frequency tables and percentages was used to measure categorical variables. Results: 41 were males and 316 Females with mean age of 20.5±8.5. 15.6% Most of them had taken more than 03 courses online on computer for educational purpose. More than half students responded that they were motivated to attend online lectures. 23.52 % thought that they can pass any course is on internet-based study. 27.45% considered online and in physical classes as same. The access of internet was not issue for 50.98% students and 37.53% think that course can be completed online. Conclusion: The students were satisfied from online education during this time of transition of conventional classes to online classes. More than half of them felt no issue of internet and 37% think that course can be completed in this mode of education.

Background: Virtual learning platforms gained unprecedented prominence after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak. Assuring the quality of education and student satisfaction are critical, especially in developing countries often plagued with infrastructural limitations, including information technology. Objectives: This study was conducted to assess the perceptions of students at a Kenyan Pharmacy School of online learning with regards to affordability and overall effectiveness. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using an online survey containing pre-determined questions aligned to achieve the research objectives. Results: Students in senior classes (Fifth year) viewed online learning more favourably and had fewer challenges with accessibility than students in the lower classes (First year to third year). Conclusion: The study identified areas of strength, such as convenience, time-efficiency, and self-initiative, as well as weaknesses, including inequitable access, internet connectivity challenges, and unsatisfactory lecturer digital competency, with relation to online learning.
