The purpose of the study was to compare self-leadership behaviors of Thai and U.S. elementary teachers using the Revised Self-Leadership Questionnaire. Findings indicated that Thai and U.S. elementary teachers had self-leadership behaviors at a high level. Significant differences in self-leadership behaviors were found for Thai teachers regarding two demographic variables, and for U.S. teachers regarding four variables. The study identified strengths related to the cultures of each group of teachers that were seen as potential benefits to the other group. These strengths provided the basis for recommendations related to professional development and teacher training.

This text is configured as a theoretical-bibliographic research, emphasizing thenarrative (auto) biographical approach to think about the processes of teacher training based on the writings of themselves as contributing to the construction of knowledge, knowledge and transformations that this can provide. We propose to question as a research problem: What are the contributions of the writings of oneself in the teacher education processes woven into (auto) biographical narratives? In view of the above, we weave as objectives of this article: to understand the historical-epistemologicalaspects of the field of (auto) biographical narratives in Brazil; understand the movement of professional teaching training mediated by the narrative writings of themselves, as well as reflect on the contributions of the (self) biographical narratives written in the process of teacher training and professional development. The theoretical-epistemological foundation of this text is based on the principles of the narrative (auto) biographical approach to which we are researchers in this area. The results of the study reveal that the challenge posed in the process of teacher training in the context of a narrative pedagogy, is the adoption of methodological devices in pedagogical practice by teacher trainers, with the use of narrative writings of themselves, which can be undertaken by the trainer himself, in dialogue with students in training, so that they create a culture of writing, and can contribute to their formative process by building knowledge and knowledge necessary for the profession that will accompany them, including, in the professional development of teachers when they are working in the area.

This article explores the relevancy and potential benefits of self-reflection and reflective practice in promoting personal and professional development. In addition, it reviews the concept of transformative learning in conjunction with self-reflection since the two constructs connect to each other as well as to the process of human development. Moreover, different educational programs and activities that increase the likelihood of change and transformation are discussed. Lastly, this article concludes with my personal reflections on my learning and growth as I adapted to change and navigated new environments while studying abroad in Great Britain.

Currently, age is characterized, on the one hand, by the existence of governance systems that are gradually eroding the Welfare State and, on the other hand, by the implementation of business management models based on precarious work and a massive reduction in jobs. This work aims to analyze the degree of happiness perceived in the group of Spanish entrepreneurs (either with or without employees), compared to that perceived by employees (whether permanent or temporary); and if that happiness is associated with certain socio-demographic variables gender, level of studies and income level). For this reason, there is a need to consider these working hypotheses proposed. Starting with the general null variable (H0), its opposite is established: H1. There is a relationship between the type of professional situation (employee, businessperson, self-employed, cooperative, etc.) and happiness; that is, there is an association between the different employment categories (represented by the variable professional situation) and the value given to the variable that measures the degree of perceived happiness. The averages of the distributions for each category are not similar. Keywords: Happiness, Entrepreneur, Wage Earners, Well-being, Professional Situation.

Fana’ is term for annihilation of the self-appreciation, a concept highlighted in Sufism represents the vanishing of the human wicked attributes that is embellished by various demands of evil desires. On the other hands, Fanā’ is also refers to the only concentration of the memory in appreciation of the perfection and the glory of Allah SWT. This is because fana' is a high level stage of consciousness and a precise focus attentions only on Allah SWT to the stage that other things to be blunt as if lost from seeker’s memory. Nevertheless, in the discourse of Islamic thoughts, many misunderstandings and misappropriation are correlated to the concept of fana’ that occurs in Sufis path. Therefore, this article efforts to high spot the concept of fana’ conferring to Sheikh Daud al-Fatani (d.1847) through his work to scrutinize the extent to which the concept of fana’ posed by him in line with other well-known Nusantara Sufi figures. This study uses the content analysis method by referring to the work of Sheikh Daud al-Fatani sufi entitled "al-Manhal al-Ṣāfī fī Bayan al-Ramz al-Sufi". The study found that the term of fana' presented by Sheikh Daud al-Fatani was in line with the meaning of fana' which was emphasized by the previous Nusantara Sufi figures such as Sayyid Abdul Rahman (d.1917), Sheikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani (d.1788) and other ancient Sufis figures. However, the use of the term is somewhat different in explaining the fana's meaning since Sheikh Daud al-Fatani in his work emphases more on the aspect of the existence stage which he labeled as the seventh stages (Martabat Tujuh). The study concludes that the concept of fana' posed by the figure was an essential bridge in understanding the concept of fanā' adopted by the practitioners of Sufis path among society nowadays.   Keywords: Fana’, Syeikh Daud al-Fatani, Nusantara Sufi, Martabat Tujuh, al-Manhal al-Ṣāfī fī Bayan al-Ramz al-Ṣūfī.

Madagascar has experienced various episodes of conflict since the colonization period. Despite the solutions local and external actors implemented, conflict recurs. Metanarratives such as socialism, communism, capitalism, and liberalism greatly impacted the conditions explaining the dynamics behind such recurrences. How did metanarratives contribute to the creation of more peaceful (de-escalating roles) or conflict situations (escalating roles)? With the help of Qualitative Comparative Analysis, this article identifies and studies the metanarratives influencing and being influenced by the following: a) conflict dimensions, b) the framing of the conflicts by the actors involved, c) the construction of the images of the self/the other, d) the accommodation policies (the solutions implemented to address the incompatibilities between the actors), and e) the repertoires of action. It argues that metanarratives play significant roles in transforming a conflict in both constructive and destructive ways.

Following Mills, several prominent sociologists have encouraged researchers to analyze actors’ motive talk not as data on the subjective desires that move them to pursue particular ends but as post hoc accounts oriented toward justifying actions already undertaken. Combining insights from hermeneutic theories of the self and pragmatist theories of action, we develop a theoretical position that challenges dichotomous assumptions about whether motive accounts reflect either justifications or motivations for action, instead illustrating how they can migrate from one status to the other over time. We develop this perspective through a comparative analysis of actors’ involvements in two quite different careers of social action—religion and mixed martial arts—documenting both how and when justificatory talk about actors’ motives for initiating a course of action at one point in time became formative of their subjective motivations for sustaining these same courses of action at another.

The authors discuss the problem of developing the self-efficacy of penitentiary systems employees. It is an urgent problem because this personal meta-quality of Russian penitentiary systems employees has not been studied sufficiently. At the same time, according to available research, a high level of self-efficacy makes it possible even for a moderately gifted person to achieve significant results. The paper presents the results of an empirical study carried out by the authors in 2018. They surveyed 117 penitentiary systems employees with the purpose of researching their self-efficacy, identifying its connection with life orientations and motivation for achievements (aspirations). The aim of the study was the verification of the hypothesis that certain psychological characteristics of employees hinder the development of their self-efficacy - inadequate motivation for achievements (aspirations) and insufficient awareness of the meaningfulness of life. The verification method for the hypothesis was psychological testing: self-efficacy level methodology by J.E. Maddux and M. Sherer (as modified by A.V. Boyarintseva); «MAS» motivation study methodology by M.L. Kubyshkina; «Life Orientations» test by D.A. Leontyev, as well as methods of mathematical statistics for data processing (comparative analysis using Mann-Whitney U-test, Pearson correlation analysis). It is noted that the surveyed employees have a rather high level of self-efficacy in «substantive activity», while the self-efficiency in «interpersonal communication» is low. The authors present the results of a comparative analysis of data from two groups selected depending on how well this parameter is developed, and on their gender. The correlation data analysis results demonstrated a strong positive correlation between both parameters of self-efficacy - substantive activity and interpersonal communication - with all indicators of the general level of awareness of the meaningfulness of life. The authors conclude that insufficient competence of employees in the sphere of interpersonal communication, competitiveness that increases with age, insufficient awareness of the meaningfulness of some aspects of life hinders the development of their self-efficacy, which is more typical of female employees. The authors also present a structure of the process of improving the self-efficacy of penitentiary systems employees.

The philosophy of age is mostly an inquiry into the temporal parameters of human existence. The aim of this article is to review the senile temporality as qualitatively different in time production (chronopoesy) from the temporality of youth and maturity. To achieve this I have considered different types of senile chronopoesy, especially its most radical version (eschatologic time), which correlates with chronoaesthetics of the decrepit and Christian Messianic time. As a result, I managed to identify the main conditions of transformation of time production while aging. I considered the problem, using comparative analysis, in the perspective of the methodological horizon of hermeneutics phenomenology (analytics of Dasein). The results of the study can be reduced to several points. The reduction of ‘age’ and ‘inner age’ future that requires an answer from Dasein determines a shift in the human temporality and configures the particular senile temporality. Changes are the most significant if man accepts his life as meaningfully completed, and the will to Other (that is good on its own) replaces the will for particular achievements (i. e., self-realisation). Goal-setting and the production of over situational temporality persist in eschatologic senility, while ‘heroic’, ‘finishing’ and petty senilities have no big goals and only situational temporality, uncompensated by the verticalization of temporality (by the orientation to the Other). The period between the substantial and physical eschatons is kindred to the time or the aesthesis of the decrepit and the Messianic time of Christian historiosophy as they all are forms of the present (end time). End time is an intransitive present, free from the past and future, correlated with the Other (that is timeless). Once started, it never ends and never become past until the end of the life.

The current document analyzed the statistical data for the year 2015 to make a comparative analysis in the case of China and Pakistan. The results conclude the migration and the refugee related challenge in Pakistan is the most critical factor to be observed and demands high level of attention. On the other side, the strengthening infrastructure in china is the massive pull factor to increase urbanization and economic growth. Moreover, the future lessons learnt from the China’s progressive growth can improve the pace of urbanization in the neighboring region like Pakistan. However, the china’s economic growth is dominating by the industrialization trend as china can be labeled as World’s factory. However, Pakistan’s agricultural dependency on the economic growth makes both economic developmental approaches distinct. It can be also concluded that the urbanization as a phenomenon requires multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary view to improve and understand urbanization trends.
