The current article deals with the interesting phenomenon of mismatch between an academic graduate's field of education and their field of occupation (a phenomenon known in the literature as horizontal-mismatch or job-field underemployment), and its impact on the individual's career satisfaction. Some studies regarding the broader phenomenon of underemployment suggest that graduates might temporarily accept an underemployed job in order to avoid unemployment and obtain some work experience, but even though most of the relatively scarce articles on the subject suggest it is usually an involuntary phenomenon, almost none of them specifically focus on the case of job-field underemployment. 310 Israeli academics with almost-equal gender representation participated in this study. A statistically significant negative correlation has been found, according to which, the greater an individuals’ level of job-field underemployment, the lower their career satisfaction level. The main conclusion of the present study is that the individuals’ quality of job-field fit appears to be a very significant component in their career perception: The individual, being rational, will invest in a specific field of education in order to integrate into the labor market accordingly. Therefore, this phenomenon is not desirable for the individual, and it requires more informed career planning by the individual in order to avoid experiencing this phenomenon in the first place. At the macro-economic level, this requires better labor-market adjustments between the supply of labor and the demand for jobs.

Abstract.Emotional intelligence is a set of skills that enable the individual to manage their own emotions and those of others, making it easier to achieve established objectives and create wellbeing at organizational, academic and personal level. Job satisfaction is a positive emotional assessment of work experience that is related to the productivity and well-being. In this regard, the aim of this study was to analyze to what extent emotional intelligence can increase job satisfaction. To achieve this goal are counted with a mixed sample of 377 workers (M = 172, F= 205) in public and private companies of Portugal, that answered a questionnaire previously validated by other authors, which mediates the three main variables of study: emotional intelligence, organizational stress and job satisfaction. The results obtained through the Pearson correlation tested the hypotheses in the expected direction with significant negative correlation between emotional intelligence and organizational stress and a significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. Emotional intelligence workers anticipated job satisfaction R multiple = .332, R2 = .111, F (6, 370) = 7.66, p <.001, the most significant variables as predictors of emotional intelligence, Auto - courage (? = .184, p = .001), and Empathy and emotional contagion (? =.141, p = .016).Keywords: Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction. The relationship between certain dimensions of career anchors, job perceptions and quality of work life. The career anchors and job perceptions of a sample of 258 employees in various types of organizations (private, semistate and state) were examined. A significant link was found between the respondents' career anchors and corresponding job perception; after which a test for differences in quality of working life between the fit and non-fit group was carried out. It was only for those respondents whose dominant career anchor was job security that significant differences (p < 0,5) were found and the fit group had a significantly higher score. The implications of these findings on career planning for the individual and the firm are examined.

The tourism industry requires that increasing attention be paid not only to the quality of products and services but also to the quality of the human resources that constitute one of its major assets, since tourism is essentially a people-centered service industry. As such, a high-quality skilled workforce will ensure greater competitiveness and innovation, improved job prospects, repeat tourist visits, and economic growth in South Africa. This study aims to establish how tourism graduates perceived their abilities in terms of knowledge and skills and how the tourism industry evaluated tourism graduates' actual abilities in terms of knowledge and skills within the tourism industry. The researchers adopted a sequential, explanatory mixed-method that entails combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The researchers conducted a quantitative survey of a purposive sample of 561 managers, supervisors, and owners of tourism industry establishments, as well as tourism graduates exposed to the industry and those working in the tourism industry. Semistructured interviews were also conducted with 12 participants who were purposively selected. This study found that the tourism industry experiences graduates as being comfortable with technology, having a professional appearance, as well as outgoing—their three top actual abilities. However, graduates were perceived to lack entrepreneurial skills. In addition, work experience, negotiation skills, and career planning were among the lowest ranked actual abilities of tourism graduates. Actual knowledge and skills gaps indicate a lack of the educational expertise required, as it underpins the curriculum in a tourism qualification and adds extensive value to the tourism industry when recruiting, training, and developing staff.

Through academia, professional disciplines seek – whenever possible – to base their actions on theory rather than fact and historical practices. This serves to improve certainty and place curricula, research, and practice on the best footing in terms of knowledge and quality. This emphasis extends to the workplaces in which professionalised disciplines are learned and practised. In healthcare, great importance is placed upon evidence-based findings to support clinical practice. Although subject to ongoing debate, the quality of research is assessed against a yardstick that culminates in a ‘gold-standard’ of clinical trials and systematic reviews. What healthcare professionals do, should, whenever possible, be based upon evidence, not ritualised practices and missives, such as “I was trained this way” and “This is how we do things here”.How to cite this article: Jones P. Professions aimed at helping and supporting a person in a difficult situation, with their traditions and principles of assisting activities, have existed since ancient times. The main purpose of the helping professions is to improve the quality of life of the person who sought help and to activate his inner potential. The importance of existential problems and their solution in the way of the professions plays a special role, since only a harmonious person who has reached agreement with himself and the outside world can fully open up in the profession. Despite the individual specifics of each profession; regardless of the direction of his work, the helper must have not only a certain set of personal qualities and a proper level of professional knowledge, but also an understanding, awareness and acceptance of the level of responsibility that he bears for what is happening in the work process. The study describes the relationship of future aid specialists to existential problems, professional responsibility and future profession.

This article reviews and summarizes two decades of empirical literature concerned with both direct and moderating variable-based analyses of the relationship of organizational stress with job satisfaction and job performance. Moderating influences of various constructs operationalized at the individual, group and organizational level of analysis are classified and then reviewed systematically. An evaluative summary of this research suggests that although there have been significant improvements in the analytical methods employed to investigate such phenomena, much of this research still does not consider the role of reciprocal relationships that evolve over time. We provide four guidelines for improving the quality of both theoretical rigor and methodological robustness in this important area of organizational inquiry.

Palavras-chave: Extroversão, Introversão, Personalidade, Educação a Distância. The Relation of Interactive Educational tasks with the Personality Traits of Teachers Working with Distance EducationAbstract The knowledge of individual characteristics is very important in the teaching process. Among these characteristics, the personality of teachers working with Distance Education (DE) is a factor that can affect the quality of this process. The purposes of this study were to analyze the personality traits of teachers working with Distance Education; verify the relation of tasks and functions required by this education model with the individual characteristics and examine how teachers see themselves as your personality and your relationship in the performance of different educational tasks in virtual environments. Six teachers answered two questionnaires: the first to check the personality trait; the second, to verify the relationship of personality to the interactive educational tasks. The results indicated that extrovert teachers chose jobs with greater social demands, and introvert teachers had higher scores on tasks with cognitive demands. Moreover, most teachers believe that their individual characteristics may interfere with the performance of theirs activities. Despite the few significant differences, it can be concluded that the work in a Distance Education team can be improved through knowledge of the personality traits of each teacher, with tasks being performing according to their main features. Keywords: Extroversion, Introversion, Personality, Distance Education.
