<p>The purpose of this study is to empirically evaluate social and cultural reproduction theory in the pursuit of education. Thus, the theory of social reproduction, cultural reproduction and social capital have been utilized to develop the theoretical framework. The research type in regard to its goal is applied and in regard to data collection method is survey research. A questionnaire has been used to collect data. Population of this research covered all graduate students of West Azerbaijan province universities in the academic year 1392-1393 (n=9352, according to available statistics) among them 132 students were selected randomly as research sample through multi stage cluster sampling. To test the research hypotheses, Pearson correlation, multiple regression and path analysis technique have been employed. Empirical findings indicate that independent variables including socio-economic status, social capital and cultural capital affect academic success of students in pursuing higher education.</p>

Abstract Objective Sleep plays an important role in the health and well-being of middle aged and elderly people, and social capital may be one of the important factors for sleep disorders. This study aimed to understand the relationship between social capital and sleep disorders in a unique region of China –Tibet that generally has the disadvantaged economic status compared to other parts of China. Methods The study was based on Tibetan data from The China Multi-Ethnic Cohort (CMEC) and was conducted from May 2018 to September 2019. A total of 3194 Tibetans aged > 50 were selected from the community population by multi-stage stratified cluster sampling. Social capital was measured using two validated health-related social capital scales, family/community and society.. Sleep disorders were measured as the presence of disorders of initiating and maintaining sleep, early morning awakening, or daytime dysfunction. Logistic regression models were applied to examine the association between social capital and sleep disorders. Results 39.9% (1271/3194) of the participants had sleep disorders. In addition, after controlling for all potential variables, family social capital was significantly negatively associated with sleep disorders (OR = 0.95, P < 0.05), while community and society social capital was not associated with sleep disorders. Then, when we did all the sex-stratified analyses, the significant association between social capital and sleep disorders was found only in women (OR = 0.94, P < 0.05), while no association was found in males; neither males nor females showed any association with community and society social capital. Conclusion Our study would help to better understand the extent of health inequality in China, and guide future interventions, strategies and policies to promote sleep quality in low-income areas, taking into account both the role of Tibetan specific cultural traditions, lifestyles and religious beliefs in social capital and the gender differences in social capital.

The concept of social capital, due to its nature and content, is associated with almost all the issues in the human, social and health fields. On the other hand, the role of happiness and joy in mental health, physical health, and social inclusion are very important in the field of health. The purpose of this study was to investigate the components of social capital and its relation with social happiness of students in Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences in 2017. This study is descriptive-correlational. The research population consisted of 450 students in Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences in 2017who were selected by cluster sampling. Bullen& Onyx Standard Social Capital Questionnaire and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ) were used to collect data. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient). Data analysis was performed using SPSS-23 software. In this research, social capital score was 3.17 ± 0.45 according to the students' score and the mean score of the social happiness was 3.68 ± 0.14. There was a positive and significant relationship between two variables of social capital and social happiness of students (r=0.423). Among the social capital fields, the variables of the value of life, trust, and security had the most and the least relationship with the overall social happiness. Social capital and its aspects have a direct and significant relationship with the social happiness; therefore, with increasing the social capital, the level of social happiness increases.

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between theory of mind ability and academic achievement and self-efficacy of students with conduct disorder in Ardabil. This descriptive study is correlational type, and the population of study consisted of all students with conduct disorder in high schools (secondary levels of 7, 8, 9) of Ardabil in March, 2015. Multi-stage cluster sampling method was used which covered 384 person and then Rutter’s behavioral disorders questionnaire form B was put at the disposal of teachers, and among people who were diagnosed with conduct disorder a total of 60 students with conduct disorder were selected as the sample group. Data were collected by the use of a questionnaire regarding self-efficiency in children and adolescents, Hopi’s theory of mind, behavioral disorder questionnaire by Rutter form B and academic records. Obtained information was analyzed by using Pearson correlation coefficient test and regression test. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between theory of mind with academic achievement, self-efficiency, social self-efficiency, academic self-efficiency and emotional self-efficacy (05/0>p). Regression analysis showed that theory of mind can predict significantly about 38% of the variances of academic achievement, 29% of the variances of self-efficiency, 26% of the variances of social self-efficiency, 41% of the variances of academic self-efficacy, and 28% of the variances of emotional self-efficiency in students. Accordingly, it can be concluded that theory of mind can predict academic achievement and self-efficiency in students with conduct disorder and it shows the relationship between these variables.

The high academic optimism levels of the teachers affect the success of the students positively. The most important characteristics of schools with high academic success is the high optimism levels. The schools with high academic optimism levels give much more importance to the teachers than the schools with low levels of academic optimism. This study aims to determine the relation between the teaching style preferences of the teachers and the level of the academic optimism in the schools. Thus, the dimensions of the teaching styles and academic optimism have been compared. This study has the model of relational screening. The study examined the level of explanation of the academic optimism in the schools by the teaching styles preferred by the teachers. The dependent variable of the study is the academic optimism perception of the teachers and the schools. The independent variable is the sizes of the teaching styles. The study group consisted of 323 middle school teachers in total selected from 13 schools by means of random cluster sampling and who were working in province of Konya in 2016. “School Academic Optimism Scale” developed by Çoban and Demirtaş (2011) and the “Grasha-Reichmann Teaching Style Scale” adapted to Turkish by Sarıtaş and Süral (2010) were used as the data collection tool. The relation between the academic optimism and sizes scores of the teachers and the teaching style sizes were tested with Pearson correlation technique. The level of the significant explanation of the teaching styles preferred by the teachers as well as their academic optimism size scores were tested with the multiple regression technique. A significant relation has been found between the scores of the teaching styles preferred by the teachers and their total academic optimism scores. It can be suggested that attention shall be focused on the lifelong training of the teachers  in order to develop the academic optimism feelings of the teachers. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.ÖzetÖğretmenlerin akademik iyimserlik düzeylerinin yüksek olması öğrencilerin başarılarını olumlu yönde etkilemektedir. Akademik başarısı yüksek olan okulların en büyük özelliği akademik iyimserlik seviyelerinin de yüksek olmasıdır. Akademik iyimserlik seviyeleri yüksek olan okullar, akademik iyimserlik seviyesi düşük olan okullara göre öğretmenlere daha çok önem verirler. Bu araştırmada, öğretmenlerin tercih ettikleri öğretim stillerinin okullardaki akademik iyimserlik düzeyi arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaçla öğretim stilleri ve akademik iyimserlik boyutları karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu araştırma, ilişkisel tarama modelindedir. Araştırmada öğretmenlerin tercih ettikleri öğretim stillerinin okullardaki akademik iyimserliği açıklama düzeyi incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın bağımlı değişkeni öğretmenlerin okulların akademik iyimserlik algısıdır.  Bağımsız değişkeni ise öğretim stillerinin boyutlarıdır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu; 2016 yıllında Konya ilinde çalışan ve tesadüfî küme örnekleme yoluyla 13 ortaokuldan seçilen toplam 332 ortaokul öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak,  Çoban ve Demirtaş (2011) tarafından geliştirilmiş olan “Okul Akademik İyimserlik Ölçeği”  ve Sarıtaş ve Süral (2010) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanmış olan “Grasha - Reichmann Öğretme Stili Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin akademik iyimserlik ve boyutları puanları ile öğretim stillerinin boyutları arasındaki ilişki Pearson korelasyon tekniği ile test edilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin akademik iyimserlik boyut puanlarını, tercih ettikleri öğretim stillerinin anlamlı bir şeklide açıklama düzeyi çoklu regresyon tekniği ile test edilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin tercih ettikleri öğretim stilleri puanları ile akademik iyimserlik toplam puanları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur.

Although many studies have investigated the relationship between perfectionism and anxiety among the adults, little is known about the manifestations of the effects of parent perfectionism on anxiety of children in Iran. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between positive and negative perfectionism of mothers whit anxiety of their children in an Iranian sample. Besides the study of effects of mother's perfectionism and how can make serious problems for their children is another aim of this research. The study was consisted of 150 women of Refah Bank employees and their 8–15 years old children, which were selected by a multi-stage random cluster sampling. In order to evaluation, the positive and negative perfectionism scale and the revised children's manifest anxiety were assessed. After data collection, Pearson correlation and stepwise regression, using SPSS were conducted. Results showed that positive perfectionism of mothers was not correlated significantly with their child's anxiety. However, mothers’ negative perfectionism was associated positively with children anxiety which was significant at 0.01 probability level. Analysis of stepwise regression showed that mothers’ perfectionism predicted anxiety of their child. It can be concluded that negative perfectionism of mothers can directly and indirectly have negative effects on children and provide serious problems for them. Our findings indicate that although we must take care of unhealthy and neurotic consequences of negative perfectionism but positive striving for perfection can help us to improve in some aspects.Disclosure of interestThe author has not supplied his/her declaration of competing interest.

SummaryThis study focuses on how older adolescent girls access and utilize social capital to develop resilience against teenage pregnancy in Begoro, Ghana. A survey of 419 non-pregnant girls aged 15–19 years, selected using a multi-stage cluster sampling technique, was conducted in 2012. Qualitative data were gathered through in-depth interviews with ten girls purposively selected from the survey respondents. Parents, relatives, teachers and religious groups were found to be important sources of social capital for the non-pregnant girls in developing resilience against teenage pregnancy. In addition, resilient girls tended to rely on multiple sources of social capital. It is recommended that stakeholders and policymakers in Ghana ensure that these significant sources of social capital in adolescent girls’ sexual experience are equipped with the right information to help girls decrease the risk of teenage pregnancy.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of religious beliefs on mental health of students in Islamic Azad University of Karaj. The research method was regression and Pearson correlation. For this purpose, the population of study was selected from normal undergraduate students of Islamic Azad University in Karaj. Sample of study was included 120 students (60 girls and 60 boys), in academic years of 2015-2016 and they were selected by multi-stage random cluster sampling method. In this study, mental health questionnaire of Goldberg with 28 questions and Baraheni’s religious attitude questionnaire with 25 questions were used. The results showed that, there is a significant relationship between religious beliefs and mental health. In the sense that, when religious attitude is more positive, people will have better mental health.

<p><strong>A</strong><strong>bstract</strong><strong>. </strong>This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model to improve student learning outcomes. This research is important because the lecture learning model makes learning meaningless so it impacts on low learning outcomes. This research uses quasi experiment using control class and experimental class. Respondents in this study were students of class X SMK 8 Semarang Academic Year 2017/2018. Sample selection using random sampling, class X1 is <em>used</em> as a control class and X2 is an experimental class. The experimental class was given an intervention by learning Teams Games Tournaments (TGT), while the control class used lecture learning. The effectiveness of the model was measured by the student test analysis method. then analyzed by completeness test and average difference test. AbstractIntroductionIt is important to recognize the various dimensions of puberty and planning for the education of adolescents and their parents who are on the verge of this course. The present study aimed to investigate predictors of puberty health behavior in adolescent girls.Materials & MethodsThis correlational study was carried out on 280 female students from the eighth and ninth grades of high school who were selected by multi-stage random sampling method. The data gathering tool was a researcher-made questionnaire whose validity was assessed using the face and content validity method (Panel view of the experts) and its reliability was tested by test-retest and internal consistency. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 16 using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression at a significant level less than 0.05.ResultsRegression results with stepwise analysis showed that demographic variables other than the age of students (p = 0.031) had no effect on the adoption of puberty health behaviors, but their students’ knowledge and their attitude were good predictors of behaviors Health is puberty. Among the underlying and psychological variables, was the strongest prediction (Beta = 0.48). Attitude with knowledge and age was 34.9% of variance for explaining puberty health behaviors in adolescents.ConclusionConsidering the power of predictors such as knowledge and attitude, it is possible to develop puberty health behaviors by increasing knowledge of students and providing correct and appropriate information to them and improving attitudes.
