Analysis of exceedings the speed limit in Poland

Driving with excessive speed is considered as one of the main factors affecting traffic safety. This factor affects not only to the risk associated with the participation in a traffic accident, but also on the consequences of these accidents. The paper presents the analysis of the number of exceeding the speed limit in Poland. The analysis was based on data obtained from the Center of Automatic Supervision of Road Traffic. Of all Polish voivodships, the highest number of exceeding the speed limit was disclosed in the Mazowieckie and Śląskie Voivodships. Furthermore, in all voivodeships, the highest number of exceeding the speed limit was recorded in the range of 11-30 km/h. The smallest drivers group is exceeding the speed limit over 50 km/h. A positive phenomenon is the fact that as the speed increases, the number of vehicle drivers exceeding the speed limit is decreases. The presented data confirms that the basic tool used to improve road traffic safety is proper speed management and supervision.

The object of this research is the system of socio-legal relations in the sphere of ensuring road traffic safety. The subject of this research is the legal norms that regulate the administrative-legal status of the driver of automated vehicle in the instance of committing offense that caused a road traffic accident. The goal of this article consists in the analysis of the normative framework that regulates operation of automated vehicle on the road, as well as the administrative-legal status of the driver of such vehicle. Analysis is conducted on the foreign experience, federal legislation, bylaws and departmental acts pertaining to consolidation of the the legal status of the driver of automated vehicle in the instance of committing offense that caused a road traffic accident. The novelty of this work is defined by practical and scientific relevance of the problems of the activity of law enforcement agencies in the area of ensuring road traffic safety, as well as the need for improving the legal framework that regulates the authority of the Russian police. The acquired results can be used in legislative activity of the government branches, activity of the law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, scientific research of the experts dealing with the problems of ensuring road traffic safety, improvement of the branches of Russian legal system.

Professional drivers constitute an important group of drivers who shoulder the responsibility of safely transporting passengers and cargo. Bus drivers and taxi drivers are an important part of the urban public transport system, and their driving safety affects road traffic safety. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the differences between bus drivers and taxi drivers in their driving behaviors and driving skills and to predict their traffic accident involvement based on these behaviors and skills. We conducted a field survey of 274 bus drivers and 178 taxi drivers in Hefei, China. The results revealed significant differences between bus drivers and taxi drivers in terms of violations, lack of concentration and technical driving skills. Aggression and violations had significant predictive effects on bus drivers’ traffic accident involvement, and memory lapses and a lack of safety consciousness had significant predictive effects on taxi drivers’ accident involvement.

The traffic accident is a major hazard in modern society. Automotive anti-collision system is an advanced security technology based on intelligent transportation system. Researchers worldwide have carried out relevant studies which are helpful to improve the road traffic safety and reduce the rate of traffic accident. In this paper, first functions of each part of the system are modelled to form the model of the whole part. According to the characteristics of automotive dynamics system and the characteristics of actuator structure, dynamics model of automatic anti-collision system are developed to simulate the complex process of the vehicle mobility. Some functions of the developed system are verified by simulation using Matlab. The system shows good control on the vehicle speed and safety stopping distance.

Suburban roads are an important part of China’s road network and essential infrastructure for rural development. Poorly designed road curves and scarcity of traffic signs have caused an excessively high traffic accident rate in plain topographical areas. In this study, an approach to evaluate and improve rural road traffic safety is introduced. Based on fuzzy and cask theory and weighted analysis, a cask evaluation model is built. It provides a quantitative instant method for analyzing road safety in the absence of traffic accident information or rigorous road space data, by identifying dangerous sections and key impact factors, and ultimately help to put forward traffic safety improvements. Based on the application to a specific section of Xiaodang Central Road in the Fengxian District of Shanghai, the result shows that the pavement conditions of cement-hardened dual-lane rural roads was good, but traffic safety was poor. Missing traffic signs, unreasonable road alignment, and poor roadside conditions were the main problems. Finally, improvements of the short-stave subsystem were proposed: the location of guide signs and roadside conditions should be improved, and the number and efficacy of the rural road traffic signs need to be increased, and markings should be and receive regular maintenance.

The problem of road traffic safety has been widely concerned in recent years. The identification of traffic accident hot spots can effectively improve the road traffic safety and let the traffic managers formulate targeted improvement measures and suggestions. The traditional identification method of accident hot spot does not consider the spatial attribute of the accident, so it has some limitations in the identification of traffic accident hot area. Therefore, this paper first proposes a method to identify the hot spot of traffic accidents based on geographic information system (GIS). The mathematical model and machine learning model are used to explore the correlation between traffic accidents and spatial characteristics from macro and micro aspects. Finally, taking Beijing as an example, the feasibility of the research method is proved by using the accident data of Beijing in 2015 and the geographic information of Beijing. The research results of this paper can realize the spatial effective transformation of accident records, comprehensively consider the micro and macro attributes of the accident itself, realize the automatic and efficient identification of the accident hot spot. In addition, the causality analysis results between each attribute and the distribution of accident hot spots can help decision makers to formulate safety and sustainable road strategies.

AbstractRoad traffic accident is one of the major causes of death in Nigeria. Road accidents have taken away so many lives in Nigeria today that hardly does any single disease match its mortality prowess. People have died prematurely and properties worth several millions of Naira have been lost as a result of road traffic accident. This paper gives a full discussion on road traffic safety issues and the methodology used were through the collection of data using questionnaire and accident information from the Nigeria Police Force, FRSC etc. The primary information for this research was sourced through the use of structured questionnaire, personal observation and interviews of road users in the study area. Secondary data emanated from published and unpublished sources such as government records, internet, journals, books etc. The findings were presented in descriptive and inferential form using frequencies, percentages, tables, mean and chi-square analytical techniques. The findings from the study revealed among many others; that Male involved more in road accident compare to female counterpart in Minna Niger State. Private car had more accident compare to Taxi, The number of accident in each zone does not depend on the population of that zone, etc.

Various traffic safety efforts that aimed to reduce the number of traffic accident victims on road. Traffic safety is a program to reduce the number of accidents either the consequences. Tendency of road accident causes are human factor, therefore is needed a system approach to handle traffic safety that include four aspects, that is 1) Process; 2) Infrastructure; 3) Management; 4) Coordination and integration. Safer road can not be achieved if only just using the strategy, but the capacity of institution is needed by coordination and integration amongst the ministries of the institution. Coordination and integration as a form of synergy among the ministries of the institution to handle the road safety conducted by sharing the role to handle various road safety related areas by using the Information Resources Information System – IRIS. Berbagai upaya keselamatan lalu lintas yang bertujuan menurunkan korban kecelakaan lalu lintas di jalan. Keselamatan lalu lintas merupakan suatu program untuk menurunkan angka kecelakaan beserta seluruh akibatnya. Kecenderungan penyebab kecelakaan lalu lintas adalah faktor manusia, sehingga diperlukan pendekatan sistem dalam penanganan keselamatan jalan yang mencakup empat aspek, yaitu: 1) Proses; 2) Infrastruktur; 3) Manajemen; 4) Koordinasi dan integrasi. Keselamatan jalan tidak dapat terwujud hanya dengan menggunakan strategi, namun dibutuhkan kapasitas kelembagaan melalui koordinasi dan integrasi antar kementerian lembaga. Koordinasi dan integrasi sebagai wujud sinergitas antar kementerian lembaga dalam penanganan keselamatan jalan dilakukan dengan berbagi peran dalam menangani berbagai bidang yang terkait keselamatan jalan dengan menggunakan sistem informasi sumber daya informasi (Information Resources Information System-IRIS).

In order to increase driving safety level on freeway, the paper analyzed the affecting mechanism of rainy day, snowy day and foggy day on road traffic safety. Considering that the sum of running distance and braking distance is less than visible distance, theoretical calculation formula of maximum speed limit value on freeway in adverse weather was presented based on the safe distance. Suggestions values of corresponding speed limit were given according to different visible distance, road fiction coefficient and grade.

With the development of the social economy, the level of motorization has been greatly improved, and the traffic safety problem has been paid more and more attention. In recent years, China’s road traffic accident rate showed a trend of decline after rising first, suggests that the Chinese road traffic safety level is on the decline. Road traffic safety evaluation has a positive effect in found risk factors of road traffic safety in time and reduce the traffic accident rate, so the study of traffic safety evaluation method is imperative. And the urban road traffic safety evaluation is frequently viewed as the multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) problem. Depending on the conventional VIKOR method and interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IVIFSs), this paper designs a novel IVIF-VIKOR method to assess the urban road traffic safety. In addition, since subjective randomness frequently exists in determining criteria weights, the weights of criteria is [Z1] decided objectively by utilizing CRITIC method. Eventually, an application and some comparative analysis are given. The results show that the designed algorithms are useful for assessing the urban road traffic safety.
